Well, they always had an interesting campers and other stuff & like times changed They opened the McDonough ,Ga location and have been holding their own with displaying their brand right out front on a hill! And have been there for years now ,I have noticed that they do have a variety of campers from and 1-2 person pull behind to medium to large& Fifth wheel units & drivable Rv's ! I haven't really had any experience anything with them , but I have been repairing bodywork on Rv's and motorhome for years & long enough to tell you if they been in business since I been repairing them from 1996 , they were opened before I started, so they must' be doing something right! This is my second review of Southern RV as this is my second time purchasing from them. The first time I purchased 2yrs ago was a 5 star experience. This time was more of a 2.5. Heather McDonald (with the assistance of Nick), was great! Heather was patient, very personable, and definitely the one to go to for your RV needs. She was there every step of the way and helped as much as she could when things started to go wrong. The issues began after delivery of our RV. We were told during the walk through that everything was checked (plumbing, electrical, slides, etc). They were not. We were told our RV was being cleaned prior to delivery. It was not. The RV arrived dirty (interior) and we have have had plumbing issue after plumbing issue. Instead of Jason actually coming to fixing the problems (we have a destination trailer and informed Southern RV that once it was delivered, we could not move it), he continues to "guide" and "direct" US to fix the problems. All of which would have been avoided if our RV was truly checked prior to us receiving it. We are extremely frustrated with how everything has been handled with regards to honest business practices, customer service, and follow through. read more

We first looked at an RV just to see if we liked a class C after always having towables. Antonio Gary met us and showed us the unit we wanted to see. He answered all of our questions without pressure to hurry or buy. He gave us plenty of time to really look at the unit. About 6 weeks later he sent us a text just checking to see how our travels were going and mentioned that the unit we had looked at was still available when we were ready. Another several weeks passed and we called him to see if the unit was still there and available. It was and he had it ready(cool) when we arrived. Again we gave the unit a long look over and he didn't rush us. When we were ready to do business, he worked with Terry Reno to get us a fair trade and set up closing. They had our unit detailed and replaced several parts that we had concerns about, all at no extra charge to us. When we came to pick up our unit, Isaac gave us a thorough walk-thru, taking time to explain all the equipment and answering all questions. We have owned many RVs in our 25+ years of camping, even fulltiming for a while. We have been extremely pleased with the service and treatment we received at Southern. purchased new in 2023- had to bring in for some maintenance under warranty- they didn't do what was needed with back up cam but we let it slide. decided to consign in 2025- took them 2 months to even list the RV then it sold in 2 weeks. however they keep 10% in commission, charge $1000 fee plus $400 sales commission plus "repairs" - this was our decision to go this route but earning double commission from original sale then consignment seems excessive - this took $5000 off our proceeds. After having it for a few months, we realized that they did not work on it or check it over at all. It's unbelievably frustrating because I was homeless for the week and a half they had the unit, "inspecting" it. The list of problems far surpasses the shitty "6 service calls" you get if you get the insurance They held it for a week to "inspect and reseal" it (but then sealed something else the day we took it off the lot in about 30 mins? Weird) but the list of problems is growing: * the night we got the camper, the AC was pouring water within 5 minutes of being turned on. (They fixed it the next day before we left the lot, but weird how it wasn't fixed in the week and a half they had it because it didn't take more than an hour to do and it wasn't long before the problem showed. I wonder what they actually tested if not the basic electronics) * the black tank seal leaks and is LITERALLY being held together with sealant and a C-clamp * under the sink pipes leak a significant amount of water, to the point I've just given up and put a bucket underneath. I don't even want to think about the leaks that are behind the wood where I can't see * fucking mold. * shower just alternates between pumping hot and cold water up the tube * heater went out about 2 weeks after we bought it and it's some break in the wiring that we can't even get to * the window on the front door leaks with rain * theres a fruit fly infestation that was there day 1 in the windows and beds read more

We purchased an RV this past April from Southern RV. First, it took us 3 weeks to actually see and walk through the unit. the first 2 times we were there, we rode around the lot looking for a RV that wasn't there. were finally told it was at " the farm" having pictures taken for the ad. 2 weeks later, it was finally returned to the dealership so we could see it. My husband purchased the rv and began the paperwork. brought it home on June 1st. During the paperwork, we were told that " we ( southern RV) will take care of the tag & title". It was a consignment rv so didn't think there would be a problem. WRONG! a month later we still don't have a tag and Southern RV claims they have yet to get the title from the previous owner. This went on for 3 weeks.. Every time my husband called to check on it, they did nothing but tell lies. So, here it is mid August. After finally speaking to the girl in the Tag office at Southern, (she hung up on him the first time), he went to our county tag office and after speaking with 2 people, was FINALLY able to get the tag. Bottom line, the sales people at Southern seem very eager to make a sale, but the customer service after was horrible. they told my husband nothing but lies every time he called to check on the status of the title & tag. We have been looking for a camper for months and found the exact camper we wanted at Southern RV. We drove a little over 2 hours on a Saturday to visit and look around the lot. We found the camper we have had our eye on and loved it along with the price! That following Monday, I called about the steps needed to apply for financing, etc. We did just as we were told and expected a call back within 48 hours at most, according to one of the agents there. By the end of the week, we had finally heard back.. This was after leaving multiple messages for Bonnie and the financial manager. My fiancé applied for financing, as was recommended, and it was the same process all over again.. another waiting game. Once we received a call back from Bonnie, once again after calling multiple times, we were told the next steps we needed. Since then I have called three times and have yet to hear back (my last call being on Thursday and still no response). We were super excited since we fell in love with one camper on the lot, but the service has been horrible. Brought my RV in for forever warranty work. $900 later I regret it. Told same day services were available, 4 days later I picked it up. My hot water tank worked when I brought it in, now it does not. Speaking to management, their quality control checked it and it's fine. Regardless of me telling them it does NOT work now I have it back, "best of luck" is managers response. Absolutely disgusting, management and quality control. I'd recommend Craigslist over Southern RV. Crooks, with no self respect or dignity. Fix my water heater that I paid $220 for you to "inspect"... which worked coming in but now does not. I'll remove the reviews. I'll contact a different service tech to fix this issue, so not only do they rob you, but you have to hire someone else to fix what they screw up! Go anywhere but this dump. read more

Only because there is no 0 stars, this place had my DIESEL motorhome for 30 months kept saying they were waiting on a part. went to get it and it wouldn't start was told again waiting on another part. Then was told that only "Red" could work on diesel coaches and long story short ....oh it was taken in to have a flat screen and satilite dish installed....finally got it started only to discover the only way to turn it off was to disconnect the battery . When I called about that I was told "We don't work on diesels here" They certainly don't...... Wouldn't let them oil the wheel on my American Flyer wagon. Please be AWARE when you sign or BEFORE you sign an Addendum "B" on the financial paperwork, that if for some reason you need to CANCEL your purchase that your deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE. We realize that during Covid-19 that sales staff may be short or scarce and we felt rushed through the financial paperwork on the RV we chose to buy as our Salesperson, though polite, had 2 other customers waiting on her. Brought my Itaska Suncruiser in for service to the heat pump. This was in July 2019 and was told it would take 3 weeks to get to it. After a month, went to check on RV/Was told they we doing a diagnostic and had not been able to determine the problem. I came back to him in September and was told the problem was with the motherboard and that they had placed an order for the part from Winnebago. I started to call weekly to get a progress report only to find out that the service manager had been fired and replaced by a new person that continued the story of the part had been ordered and Winnebago has not responded yet. I called Winnebago and they told me they had never received an order from southern RV. Winnebago referred me to another dealer in central Georgia. I immediately went to Southern RV and picked up my RV and took took it to the other repair shop. I had my RV back in two weeks with air conditioner was running perfect. This was in November 2019. I should've known better than to be strung along by their incompetent service department. I only write this now as I see management has still not repaired it's repair shop! read more

I recently visited southern rv and had to wait 20 mins for Sales and there was no customers on the lot so uncertain as to why had to wait. We did find a camper we love but as southern rv was our first stop we wanted to check out other places to see what other options in inventory before finally choosing one. We have visited several other dealerships now and the camper we love is at southern rv so I decided to read the reviews on their website and it saddens me after reading the reviews and the lack of response to those reviews has now made us hesitant to purchase there. I bought my unit from them thinking it would be best to do business with a local store, but I was wrong. They are not dependable, they lie, and lack integrity. Avoid this place like the plague. Eric Casebolt lost my Mercedes key. Tried to blame it on me. Left a deposit for an RV AC they swore was needed. I chose to not return for and canceled before the AC was recieved by the shop and after someone at a campground fixed my AC for less than $20. He chose to keep deposit and not replace my key. This is our second trailer from Southern RV. We decided to upgrade so from our first experience with them we went back. Mark Harper again came through with finding what we wanted based on the information that we gave him,the Sunset Trails model 285ck it was just the size.we needed and would work well for us. We made a few changes with furniture inside to accommodate our needs. Jonathan Mayfield the sales manager placed the order for us.got a time frame as well and got the ball rolling. Tracy took care of the closing and all the paperwork as well. On the walk through Bo was very helpful and patient to make sure he showed us everything and was able to answer all our questions, got the trailer hooked up and we were off. The absolute worst RV dealership I've ever dealt with. Their customer service is non existent after the deal is done. I purchased a 5th wheel toy hauler in March 2021. It was delivered with 4 broken items. They took it back and had it for two weeks. Only one item was partially fixed. The major door issue was not even addressed. The three season doors can not be used as they fall off every time they are opened and they are too heavy to lift back onto the tracks. They lost my business forever. read more

Having to order taillight to fix what this service dept only rigged with lots of caulk instead of fixing it.... To make a long story short.. Sold the Class C during the high increase of value .. Got my money back and ungraded to a Class A from an out of town dealer, couldn't be happier with service and the communication and the quick responses of repairing work orders... Buying our rv was an experience. Everyone was concerned about safety telling me they can't let me leave the lot without a brake controller installed (which I completely understand). Got my brake controller and weight distribution hitch and headed to get my rv when I was informed on the phone that there would be no assistance in helping set up my hitch because we didn't buy it from them. I had to load up my own tools and install the hitch alone in their back lot. This being my first time with setting up the weight distribution hitch, it would have been nice to have someone with their experience to let me know if I had everything right but I guess safety is only a concern if you buy the parts you need from them. We have a 2017 RV our tail lights and brake lights went out. My husband has heart problems and a diffibulator and pacemaker. He isn't supposed to work in the hot sun for hours or over exert himself. That's why we bought a 2017 for the warranty. We stopped in Southern RV and asked for them to please look at the lights. They said we have a 4-6 wait for service...what?? They wouldn't even walk out and look at the RV. I told them we live in it and are stranded because we can't drive it anyplace without brake lights and tail lights. They didn't care...we drove across the street to a trailer dealer Big tex. They were so nice! Keith worked on it for hours and fixed it! The fuse was blown but it wasn't in the right spot so we didn't know that was the fuse for the lights. Unbelievable Southern RV didn't care about us being stranded. At least there are some nice people across the street at Big Tex trailer. I wouldn't buy ANYTHING from Southern RV. read more

Called in October about having some service done to my camper. I was told that they were running 4-6 weeks for it to be completed. They said to bring it by on drop it off. I called to check the status after Thanksgiving and was told they were waiting on prices on material. Called back mid December and was told the same thing. I went by in late December, and NOTHING had been done. I was told they would start on it right after the first of the year. Visited them at the end of the 2nd week in January, and guess what... NOTHING had been done. At this point it was raining so I asked to verify that they had covered my camper since I had a small leak. The camper was NOT covered. It was brought in their shop while I was there. Since then I have made weekly visits to see the progress. My wife and I went by in late February. The work was close to being completed, except that they had damaged the front diamond plate, the new front end was not installed correctly and they used the wrong sealant. I was told that it would be completed on the 17th of March... No call and still isn't completed. DO NOT waste your time with Southern RV for any service. Drive the hour south to another site. I have been told 4 different completion times that they have not met, been told countless excuses for why they have not completed the work and I still do not have my camper back. In my opinion, they are completely incompetent when it comes to repair work. If I could give them a 0.5 star or no stars I would. read more

We stopped in last fall when we were starting to think about RVing again. It was a Saturday afternoon, and there were a good many people in the store. No one ever approached us, welcomed us, asked us what we were interested in....There were a couple of employees in an office area at the back of the showroom. They chatted with each other, but never acknowledged us. We went out on the lot, and no one ever asked if they could assist us or even said hello. Too bad there isn't a zero star. We took the class A in for replacement of a toilet, the awning fabric, and a rear ladder in July 2021. While parked on the lot of Southern RV waiting for repairs, a golf ball from the adjoining golf course broke the windshield of the RV. The service department told me that I would have to contact my insurance company. In January 2022, I phoned Thor Motor Coach, the manufacturer of the RV and they told me there were 4 toilets in stock that would fit my RV. I phoned Colorado Awning and they told me that they keep the fabric in stock, and if ordered, Southern RV would have received it. I reported this to Jason Wetztein in January 2022, and he told me the material was ordered in September 2021. We picked up the RV at the end of February 2022, 7 months in the shop. Don't waste your time with this company or expose your RV to damage that they will not be responsible for We purchased the RV new from Southern RV. The problems previously described and taking 7 months with a broken windshield while they had it is unacceptable. Even worse, they admit that other people have had broken windshields from the golf course while their RVs were in for repairs. Why would anyone take their RV for repairs at this place? I hope this post will help others. I will also file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

In the RV business, the highest profit margins are truck campers and Airstreams. If their camper selection seems odd at first, we realized what these folks are all about. Ask them about their $995 surcharge just to "prepare" the unit for delivery. Then it was "Let me check with my manager on this price he's going to hate me". One after another used car salesman profit tactics. For an Airstream dealer we expected more integrity. Sorry guys we would not return for our dream RV. read more

I bought a camper from this dealer early last spring, and by fall it was clear that they had sold me a camper with structural damage. The wood frame for the slide was rotten. They said that I need not bring it back until November...it was August because they were too busy to look at it. I took it to them in August and they said it would cost about $1K to fix the damage. After 7 months and $7K later and their unresponsiveness to calls, I finally got my camper back. I don't know if the repair is okay yet, but I know that if it breaks again, I will never take it back to these jokers, nor will I ever buy another camper from them. My husband and I went to southern RV 20 minutes before they closed. All the other salesmen had gone but Jeff was still there and took his time showing us a few different trailers. We decided on one and Jeff got the paperwork going. We picked up our trailer July 11th and did our walk through with Hunter. When I say Hunter was very detailed, showing us everything about or camper and giving great advice for product purchases! We had to buy a part for my husbands truck and got it put on in the service dept. Chevy is just an all around good dude. Everyone there was exceptional and treated us very kindly.
