We traveled an hour North for 3 Chinese Viburnum (snowball trees) as there were zero in Volusia or Orange counties. The nursery was nicely arranged, and resplendent with healthy plants for both indoors and outside - quite a few I'd not seen at local-to-me plant stores. Definitely worth the drive. Buyer Beware! While the staff were friendly and helpful and their selection was impressive, I had a disappointing experience. I purchased two trees for $300 each and six plants for $20 each. I planted everything the same day. Within a week, the trees began losing leaves, and four of the plants looked wilted. I thought they might be in shock, so I diligently watered them three times a day. By the next week, it was clear that the trees and four of the plants were dead or dying. When I returned to the store, I was informed that they do not offer any warranty on their plants. If you buy a thousand-dollar tree and it dies a week later, you are out $1,000. I just learned a $600 lesson. While Home Depot and Lowes may have lower quality plants, at least they provide a warranty. Southern Horticulture should be ashamed of this practice. read more

We made the drive from Jacksonville and it was well worth it. This nursery has the most friendly staff ever, and they each greeted us and asked if we needed help many times over even on a packed Saturday morning. Parking on site was a little limited but there is some street parking and we parked across the road at a business that was closed on weekends. We wandered around with our dog (who they welcomed with open arms) and found some plants we couldn't pass up. Everything was competitively priced and healthy. There was no wait to check out and we found a few things we hadn't seen anywhere else locally. Their indoor plant selection is tucked away on the side of the checkout area but has a lot of well priced and very healthy looking specimens. Sadly their native plant section was slim pickings at the time but I've heard normally they have quite a variety. We will definitely be back. read more

I would recommend their perennial section as they have a strong array of flowering perennials. And many other Florida standard vegetation. My family and I drove all the way from Jacksonville, specifically bc it was our understanding that masks were required in the nursery. I was very disappointed to see, not just a few, but several customers without masks. I asked about their policy and was told "masks are only required when customers were with staff". The selection was great, the staff friendly and prices pretty on point and there were signs everywhere with names and prices of the plants, making it very easy. I wish I could give this place 5 stars, but I feel slightly misled about their mask policy. We will definitely come back - but not on a weekend. A weekday when it's not so busy or after Covid is over. read more

The unique offerings set them apart from other garden retailers. The bedding plants are affordably priced, although the larger landscape plants and pots tend to be more pricey. They also have lovely garden accessories including glazed pots and fountains. Rather than just setting up the plants on palettes, everything is set up like a garden. Ironically another customer suggested this place as I was browsing in Home Depot with a cart full of plants! I decided to look them up as I am new to the area. Wonderful and knowledgeable staff with budget friendly and diverse offerings. As someone with very little gardening experience but a lucky streak in a previous home, I was eager to plan out my new yard and they really took their time to work with me and were honest and genuine in their input. I was able to purchase multiple plants and three young trees for my new home with excellent insight from the staff. They also have their own soil mixture (and plenty of other brands) and offer delivery for a reasonable rate along with a few other landscape type services. Truly a one stop shop for gardening. We saw monsteras in several sizes, lots of beautiful succulents from 1"-4", a handful of calatheas and alocasias, fiddle leaf figs, birds of paradise, large ZZ plants, and more. 120 dollars and every plant I buy from here dies. And I have a pretty good green thumb. I keep giving them the benefit of a doubt because I love this nursery And the people but I'm done throwing my money away buying plants here. The only vegetable that I actually have gotten to grow are the Datil pepper plants. After planting what was going to be my butterfly garden, I have finally given up on Southern Horticulture. Only one plant out of 12 has grown. And I've tried everything to save them. I won't ever go back. Not even for a pot. read more

This place is fantastic. I used to go to another place on US1, because they were new, friendly and inexpensive. Then a new guy started working there and was of no use to me at all. Pretty much wasted my time and money. So I went to Southern Horticulture and they hooked me up with amazing plants for my English garden. And they understood what I meant when I said English garden! They have since supplied me with succulents for my cactus garden, perennials for my front garden, mulch and landscaping cloth, a fountain, many tips and instruction on tree maintenance. Also they took down and disposed of a dead palm tree in my back yard. They also helped me arrange things so my nosy neighbors couldn't peak in on me. The price is reasonable. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Go here if you want reliability, knowledge and an awesome yard. read more
