THE DRIVE IS ABSOLUTELY SO BEAUTIFUL! AND PEACEFUL! It is not worth driving here at all most biggest disappointment it is just a small garden with same old plants herbs I seen at every garden at a Garden center and it is just boring and I didn't see chickens and but I saw pet most sweetest black cat so adorable and cute and wonderful and don't drive up here not worth it and only come here for the views of the gorgeous river and so beautiful peaceful out here and magnificent magical and don't ever come here not worth it BIG DISAPPOINTMENT and looks so messy horrible and not clean or organized and the owners are nice and welcoming but that it is. Soooo... a friend brought me here and I must say I was not disappointed. I don't have a green thumb but I can appreciate and respect those who do. This place is awesome. So many different plants and flowers. I even found a plant that smells like popcorn. They were hit hard by CoVID and had to close the store and stop the yoga, but the nursery is still open. There is also jam's, honey, and soaps. All local ingredients. Check this place put if you are in the area. If you are visiting like me and love to buy locally sourced items plan to ship it home or buy an extra suitcase. read more

My family has visited Maggie's a few times over the years and have never been disappointed. The drive down 13 from Jacksonville is always a pleasant breath of fresh air. When we were recently planning my dad's Celebration of Life, I reached out to them ahead of time to make sure that someone would be there, since we would be going out there soon before the event to pick some herbs to use as centerpieces; my dad loved cooking and herbs. It was a lovely afternoon thinking of my dad and all of the herbs he loved to use; unfortunately, one of his distinct favorites, chervil, is not quite in season this time of year, but they don't control the seasons! The notes that they provide about each plant were very helpful so that we could provide some basic growing/use information to guests, who were invited to take the plants home at the end of the evening. The selection was vast and beautiful, and the staff was very helpful and informative as we picked out our items. My daughter, also named Maggie, was happy to go check out one of the beehives from a distance, as well. I'm so glad to have this great resource so close to Jacksonville! read more

This was just an awesome place with an awesome selection and a cool bonus was that the people who ran it were great, helpful, and kind people, too. This location is deep in a neighborhood - and it's a beautiful drive along the St. John's River to get there. Their selection of heirloom, unique, and Florida-native herbs, plants, fruit/pepper trees, etc. was beyond what I expected. I've been to a lot of nurseries - and you pretty much see the same stuff over and over in different ranges of quality. They just had so many cool things packed into such a small space - so many herbs. There is also some succulents, cacti, and can't forget the datil pepper plants, especially if you are coming after a stop in St. Augustine. On top of the great experience, we had a great conversation with the owners about both plants and non-plants things. There's a gift shop (it was closed though) and they do all kinds of other stuff out here (probably moreso when it's not COVID) like yoga and herb classes. I really wanted to pop into the gift shop, so hopefully it reopens later on and we can check it out on a later visit. We will definitely be back. If you are visiting St. Augustine and heading back to Central Florida, this is a good 20 mile detour to the west before heading home. read more

My favorite place to pick up herbs is Maggie's. They set up a booth every Saturday at the Riverside Arts Market. Their herbs are beautiful, of course, that's what they do! What really sold me was the helpfulness of the people. It can be very busy but they always take the time to walk me through my questions and provide tips even about herbs I may not have purchased from them. They have a passion and want to see people succeed at growing. This past time I picked up basil because I fell in love with the fullness of them. I also bought my first culantro! It is like cilantro but doesnt go to seed as often. It can also be planted in the shade and is significantly heartier and spreads! I am looking forward to having more culantro than I need! Maggie's Herb Farm - Bushy basil - Nurseries & Gardening Near Me - Saint Augustine, Florida

We stopped in Saint Augustine with the sole intention of finding some datil pepper plants for our garden, and after two other failed stops, we finally stumbled across Maggie's Herb Farm. It's off the beaten path but well worth the trip, and there's plenty of time to get out and stretch your legs while walking the farm. When you enter be sure to mind the signs that warn of the free roaming chickens that will cross the drive, and to keep pets leashed at all times. There is a greenhouse where all the herbs are grown, a section where you can find herbs and other plants have been potted and made available for purchase, a butterfly garden, and a small shop where they sell home made goods such as sauces, jams, and more. This is where you'll find Maggie, the yellow naped parrot that is the namesake of the farm. The owner is very friendly and helped us not only find exactly what we were looking for but also gave us tips on growing and caring for our new plants. She told us that they closed their doors for what they thought might be permanently after the last hurricane because the damage was so extensive that they didn't even know where to begin making repairs, but I'm glad that they were able to get their farm up and running again. If you're in the area and looking to support a great local business, the farm is open to the public from 10am to 4pm Tuesdays through Sundays, and is closed on Mondays. read more

Great organic herb garden. It is such a lovely place with friendly owners. I got a nice collection of herbs and unique flowers do create my patio green space. We had a great time. We met them at Riverside Arts Market but due to covid....no longer set up there but even groovier spot is the actual farm. Thanks for all of your help. GodBless this green thumb business. Visited Maggie's Herb Farm this AM. What a neat place, My ride took me along the St John's River, which is a nice extra The farm itself is amazing! If she dies not have the herb, or plant etc. you don't need it! Never have I seen such an array of not just herb plants including medicinal herbs, but there is an enormous selection of fruit trees, ornamental plants, including ornamental ginger, and flowering aloe, things I m very thought of growing. Shade plants. Sun plants. You name it, I could gave spent hours There. The gift shop is closed right now because of covid But the outsider is where everything mostly is, you can walk and walk if you like outside cash registers and very reasonable prices. This place has an energy, beauty, and purity you rarely see in this world...almost otherworldly. I was looking for rare herb called Tulsi . The places I checked did not have it and told me to order online. I almost gave up until I went to Maggie's herbs. Amazingly, Maggie's had it. Dora gave me the last plant of Tulsi explaining that it was not popular with most people despite its incredible medicinal benefits. I admire Dora for maintaining this beautiful place and hope it continues to prosper. read more

This sprawling nursery is amazing. If you're familiar with the G.D. song, Maggie's Farm, What you picture is probably right. Dora and Mike are really laid back, friendly, and are very knowledgeable. This is truly an old school working nursery. I don't know about you, but I prefer old school. I went to buy a few plants of milkweed, and ended up buying, a beautiful, ceramic planter, local honey, and 2 t-shirts, which Dora designs herself. She use to do pottery, as well, but some are not for sale. I really wanted the ceramic pig!!! LOL! As I understand it, this nursery has been around for 30 years, and Dora and Mike have had it for the last 10 years. You really need to see this place. And while your at it, pick up a t-shirt! I have been buying plants from Dora, who manages Maggie's Herb Farm, at her booth at the Riverside Art Market (RAM) for over two years and have always been happy with the quality and unique varieties of her plants. She specializes in native plants, and plants that are extremely suited for the climate of North Florida. I finally made the trip out to her nursery , and if you are into chemical free gardening, you will find lots of plants to love here. The type of herbs she sells do well in our climate, as an example I have basil from South Africa, and a basil from Australia, that are doing great in our steamy climate. She also carries some unusual native plants that have thrived in my own garden. She also has many plants, that will attract hummingbirds, butterflies, and birds, that need no toxic chemicals to thrive and be safe for these animals. I am glad I finally got to see the source of her RAM booth and I know I will enjoy returning to her nursery in the future. If you want to garden without toxic chemicals and/or want to incorporate native plants into your garden I think you might enjoy seeing all she has to offer at her nursery. Maggie's Herb Farm is open from 10am to 4pm Tuesday through Sunday, and is right on CR 13S, near the St. John's River, and south of Colee Cove in St. John's County. read more
