This place is incredible. Love that they do a different flavor everyday but honestly I always order Chocolate every time haha. The flavors are extensive though and if you catch them on the right day you can get some very interesting stuff as the dessert chef is quite experimental. I've seen some fantastic creations. I definitely recommend this hidden gem! I came here for the first time the other day and the owner immediately greeted us and game us a overview for all the products they offer. Unfortunately we came an hour before closing and they were out of the flavor of the day and the chocolate. However I chose to get the poffertjes which are mini pancakes (8) with two scoops of vanilla frozen custard, hot fudge and powdered sugar on top and it was divine!! The quality of their frozen custard is great (however I do think Andy's is a bit better). However the options they have with their new flavors is definitely a plus! THE CREAMIEST ICECREAM IVE EVER HAD. They only have three flavors but every single one is soooo bomb. The icecream is rich and creamy. It wasn't too sweet. They greet you right when you walk in and they explain to you everything you need to know. They give you samples so you can choose which you like best. I can't believe I haven't tried this place yet until now! My bf and I just finished up dinner at Pure taqueria and wanted some dessert. We were actually about to go to another place but realized there was this little "custard" shop I never noticed until today so we did a 360 degree turn back into the shopping center to try this place! The employees were so friendly and explained all the products they have. They also weren't stingy at all with their sample of their featured flavor of the day. You can make literally any other flavor you want on their "concretes", which is basically a DQ blizzard. A month or so ago I discovered that there was a frozen custard spot right in my backyard in Brookhaven at @southerncustard and I finally got to try it a few weeks back. Sadly my standard chocolate frozen custard was unavailable but I did go ahead and get the vanilla cone with chocolate sprinkles and it definitely hit. Let's deep dive on why: 1. Consistency: this custard is velvety smooth, thick and rich. It's exactly for these reasons why frozen custard is so awesome 2. Flavor: I'm more of a chocolate guy but this vanilla was subtle but sweet 3. We were looking for a late evening sweet treat and landed here! Great choice, especially since the temps of summer haven't released their grip yet. It was busy but the lane moved rapidly. It's a pretty basic menu and the flavors offered are only vanilla, chocolate and a flavor of the day. In our case this was Cookie Monster. Having read about the poffertjes(these mini-pancakes) I was intrigued and went with those. They cook them for your order on a special griddle with small pockets for the batter. This includes flipping them mid way! I didn't understand how the poffertjes were used but they are basically on the side of your custard. We took Caramel sauce on top which was a great option! The poffertjes were perfect for sopping up melted deliciousness and caramel off the bottom of the little serving dish. Small comes with 6 of the tiny pancakes and a scoop of custard. It was a great size! They have a calendar posted with upcoming flavors throughout the month and they are not afraid of venturing in to some bold flavor territory. Put it on the list! Too bad the original hours on here were false. I would have loved a late night ice cream spot - and I honestly don't know why people haven't thought of it before. The real hours are 12 NOON (not midnight) until 10pm. Brookhaven really is blossoming. I'm always down for more dessert options, especially if it involves ice cream or custard. Honestly, I'm not an expert and I don't know the difference, although I know I should. I came for a midday snack and walked in to find it relatively mild. It wasn't super busy, but I also wasn't concerned that they were lacking customers. I ordered the mini Dutch pancakes, or poffertjes, with cookie dough custard. They were deliciously hot and perfect with the icy cold custard. It's definitely a different kind of sweet snack that I haven't seen in the Atlanta desserts scene, so I found it unique and worth a small drive for! They also have a nice and expensive looking espresso maker - so try the affogato! The custard pour over is on point. This ice cream shop is in the same lot as a donut shop, so basically it's a parking lot for sugar addicts. Upon coming in I was greeted warmly by the worker, and he was a very nice and helpful individual throughout the ordering process. That day they had vanilla, chocolate, and peanut butter ice cream flavors when I arrived. He let me try samples of the ones I was interested in, and they were very creamy and rich. I like my vanilla to have a little more of a punch, but the chocolate was very decadent. I also appreciated the worker did half scoops for me so I could enjoy both flavors. I tried out the dutch pancakes to go with the ice-cream since it was something different. Honestly when I looked at pictures before coming I totally thought they were serving something closer to a funnel cake. I would have preferred this. If you like pancakes you will love these, I just am not super fond of them to begin with. My biggest issue was the salted caramel I got on top just tasted like basic lackluster caramel. I was hoping for that salty note to contrast all the sweet, and when it went in the pancakes it almost tasted syrupy. Also if you like toppings the price can add up fast here. Overall the creamy texture of the ice-cream is lovely but needs a lot of toppings to make it exciting. I think I would like it in something like a banana split. If it was more economical to add toppings I might consider it again. In addition, since their signature special dutch pancake just was not for me, there was nothing that stood out as unique that spoke to my taste buds that would send me running back constantly due to cravings. I wanted to give it higher stars since I enjoyed the people so much, it just was not for me, but I can see it being a great niche that others will enjoy. read more

I think blending the toppings into the custard makes it so much better! The location looked new and clean, and the service was awesome. I had the chocolate which Matt described as having a hint of espresso and wow it was amazing and the daily speciality flavor - Peaches & Cream, with baked peaches! My husband, who sadly is unable to consume lactose, had a scoop of peach and raspberry sorbet and was amazed! For once I didn't feel guilty about my lactose-toleration ability! Other notes: they offer prepackaged half pints to go along with whole pies or slices. Give them two days for your pie order - they have some traditional options or a little bit more for a special order, this will be taken to the next family gathering! I get the same thing every time: poffertjes with vanilla custard and strawberry topping. I may have gotten this once with peaches last summer. You can get all kinds of toppings, like Oreos, waffle cone pieces, M&Ms, and various other cookies and candies. I'm not into these things in my ice cream. No brownies, no chocolate chip cookies, Butterfingers. Just fruit sometimes and maybe a generous dollop of whipped cream, if it's made in-house. It's almost freezing out tonight and the three of us had dinner nearby and I still wanted some frozen custard. The service is warm and the space is modern with beautiful (heavy) wooden chairs. (Unimportant but funky: Coincidentally, we have a light fixture just like the ones they have in the front.) I had to unbutton my jeans for the ride home, but damn, it was worth it. The vanilla frozen custard is silky and decadent. The Dutch-style mini-pancakes are perfectly springy and just the right amount of sweetness to complement your eggy scoop of ice cream.
