I stopped by yesterday because I was craving a simple hot fudge sundae--just ice cream, fudge, and whipped cream. The woman at the register was wonderful. She listened, helped me figure out what to order, and made sure I got exactly what I wanted. She made the experience pleasant from the start, and I even tipped because of how helpful she was. Unfortunately, the service went downhill from there. The woman who handed me my sundae gave it to me quickly and walked away without asking if I needed anything else. The cherry on top was falling off, but by the time I noticed, she was gone. As I sat enjoying my dessert, I noticed her interactions with other customers also felt rushed and short, almost as if she didn't want to be there. Each time she gave out an order, she immediately shut the window, which made the experience feel unwelcoming. The ice cream itself was good, and the cashier at the front deserves recognition for her excellent customer service. For example, I was really excited to try the cherry vanilla and assumed that it would be well-blended... but it was literally vanilla ice cream with those sickeningly whole sweet maraschino cherries in it. Similarly, the banana was flavored with some kind of extract with no actual bananas in it, and although the pistachio did have nuts in it, the ice cream itself was nothing special. The staff were very nice young folks doing a great job with the crowd. There was no wait despite a large group of folks enjoying ice cream. There is a lot of great outdoor seating. However, we just really didn't care for the ice cream. It is very creamy, but I would prefer to go to Kroger and get Blue Bell instead in terms of flavor. We tried both chocolate and Smores. I thought Smores would be kind of like a rocky road style, but it was marshmallow cream instead of marshmallows, which I didn't care for personally. The graham cracker was kind of like a cookie dough consistency, which was actually my favorite part of the ice cream. We just thought the chocolate overall in both ice creams was pretty lackluster. Get there 30 min before close to get a milkshake and they tell me that they "already shut down the milkshake machine" Which anyone who works in food service knows is code for "we started closing early and don't want to get the blender out again." Which really sucks because I waited in line for 20 minutes just to ask them that. They also had a sign that said no water cups, which just seems scummy. Employees are all teenagers, not a single adult to be seen. Wasn't gonna argue with a 15 year old. I won't be returning. It's an outdoor store, as most Bruster's are, where you place your order and eat your ice cream in the elements, rain or shine. I like getting there small waffle cone with and they let you choose 2 flavors, regular 3 flavors. My friends and I First time to Bruster, Coming from my company halloween party with our Kids and we wanted to try this ice cream place , Googled this place near and we came to this location on LaVista Rd , Worst decision we made the young man oliver he had really red hair skinny face was very rude, no greeting rolling his eyes just not wanting to deal with us which we are a very diverse group Black, hispanics and Indian he treated us all the same just rude , I personally walked away from the window and waited for the next young man to come and help me because I simply didn't understand the attitude that was given and did not want him waiting on me , if i am going to visit a place an get attitude with it i'd rather go elsewhere, I ordered my ice cream with next young man much nicer and I'm guessing the man that gave me my order was the manager Im not 100% sure but he was nice. As we sat to enjoy our Ice cream and chat we also observed oliver(red head) interacting with other customers of the same skin tone as me he was giving the same face unpleasant not inviting at all, once some caucasian couples walked up his entire face and body language changed he smiled with them and talked with them etc, so now I'm thinking maybe this young man just don't like us ( Black&brown people) which is unacceptable, if he cant treat every guest with respect and kindness he shouldnt be working in a guest facing business. Coming from a company that's big on hospitality where guest are #1. My friends and I did not receive that coming here and we will not be back, if this is the kind of behavior you allow we will go some where else no problem.
