Family was looking for dessert and we found this winner! The flavors of the day were not calling my name so I got a pint of the Chocolate Heath which was right up my alley, so yummy! Husband and daughter shared a poffertjes which has two small scoops of custard. They said it was tasty. I liked the outside eating area where cute little dog was enjoying to the outing and little birds wanted to come and check out the action. It was a beautiful setting. I have been going to this place for years and realized that I should probably write a review. So here goes... The custard is delicious. They usually have 3 flavors "on tap" - vanilla, chocolate, and the flavor of the day. Service is quick and friendly. Since it's in a strip mall, parking is easy. And the best part - it's open late! Until 10 on weekdays and 11pm on weekends. There's a few tables inside and a few outside. It's always amusing to see all the folks rush in to get their custard fix mere minutes before closing. We've never cut it that close but it's good to know they'll welcome you in even if you show up then. read more

Overall: one of the best frozen custard places in Atlanta I am one of those people that for some reasons looks for reasons not to give 5 stars, but really nothing wrong with this place. Service has always been so prompt, friendly, and helpful. Frozen custard is always delicious and they have different flavors I think almost every day. Overall, there is plenty of seating. Indoor seating can be limited at times, but there are a handful of outdoor tables. Might as well enjoy your frozen custard in a warm spring/summer sun anyway, right? Just a great place to grab a frozen custard on your way to Costco, or when you are just craving a delicious scoop. This place is tucked in a ritzy shopping center and apartment complex with gratuitously sparse parking; several spots were designated specifically for short-term frozen custard parking. They offer vanilla and chocolate and one rotating flavor, which when I dropped in was a splendid salted caramel that delivered just the right hint of salt. They had the options for toppings and sundaes, but it was a bit strange that they didn't have a banana split or a greater flavor variety. Not much for those avoiding dairy or egg either. This is a great spot! They have vanilla and chocolate custard plus a new flavor everyday. When I went they had butterfinger which was super tasty. First time @ SC and have mixed reviews. Customer service was amazing. I was curious of the ingredients of the custard as it was not posted in the store or online. Come to find out custard is not made from scratch. It comes from a brown box from Dairy Direct (Meadowvale). I'm getting hooked on frozen custard, and this is a great place to get it. It helps that it's a very short drive from my home! Parking is no problem, since there is a long parking lot that all the businesses in the strip mall share. Just about all of the employees at Southern Custard are welcoming and friendly. They're always ready with an answer to customers' questions, and will provide you with a sample of fresh frozen custard on a tiny spoon if you show an interest in a flavor. The store is always clean, the counters cleared, and the toppings section very presentable. Employees and customers are required to wear facemasks and signage on the floor indicates where customers should stand in order to social distance from each other. Even if there is a long line, the employees are very efficient and get the customers through very quickly. Inside dining is not allowed, and there are some tables outside where you can enjoy your frozen sweet treat. Southern Custard always has three flavors, and two of them are chocolate and vanilla. The third flavor, the featured flavor, changes daily. Yesterday, the featured flavor was toasted coconut chip. I ordered a sundae with toasted coconut chip frozen custard (three scoops), topped with hot fudge, chopped peanuts, whipped cream and a cherry! The toasted coconut chip frozen custard was deliciously slightly sweet with chips of crunchy chocolate, and a hint of coconut via some slivers of coconut mixed in. The toppings complimented the custard extremely well. There are many other forms that you could have your frozen custard: concretes, malts, malts and floats. You could also have your frozen custard in a cup, cake cone or waffle cone. Great tasting frozen custard and friendly employees made for a fantastic Southern Custard experience! read more

Perfect for my sweet tooth! Southern Custard is located in Brookhaven in the same shopping plaza as Marlow's Tavern and Burn. They offer vanilla and chocolate custard daily and then one additional flavor that changes daily. A couple of friends and I were wanting dessert after dinner nearby and we found this spot. It's a cute little place. My friend and I shared the special that day which was a caramel crunch I believe. It had vanilla and dulce de leche custard with heath bar topping. It was good. My other friend got the poffertjes which are mini pancakes (8) with two scoops of vanilla frozen custard, hot fudge and powdered sugar on top. That was absolutely delicious! This place is kinda far from me but if I ever came back here I'd 1000% get that. I recommend that to anyone coming here. The custard over all is nice. We walked in and were immediately greeted by a friendly gentleman behind the counter. We indicated we'd never visited before, and he quickly gave us the rundown of everything they offered. (They always have chocolate and vanilla custard, and then there's the flavor of the day.). Today's flavor du jour was Pecan Praline. It took me about 0.25 seconds to decide I wanted a medium sized cup that was half chocolate and half praline pecan. Both were excellent. The pralines were a little cold-crunchy, and buttery sweet just like all good things praline. Totally hit the spot. My wife decided on a hot-fudge sundae made with the praline pecan and the vanilla. She practically inhaled that thing. She'd be mad at me if I told you that she finished it before we left the parking lot. This would be untrue, of course, but I think it's still funny to say so. I'm glad we visited Southern Custard, and I can't wait to go again. I think we saw that they'll soon have "honeycomb" custard on the menu soon as the daily flavor. We've been here a few times and have had a great experience. The shop is small with only a few tables inside and a handful outside to sit it, but the ambiance is modern and there has never been a problem finding a seat as most people take it to-go or eat quickly, so the turnover is fast. You order at the end of the counter right when you walk in and there are two flavors (chocolate and vanilla), and a flavor of the day. I have seen Milk and Honey as the flavor of the day and Cookies and Cream, which is just the vanilla with Oreo in it. The custard is very smooth and tastes excellent! What's not on the menu is a kid's option, which is one scoop (doesn't seem like a lot, but it is) and comes with one topping. Otherwise, if you order the adult sizes, toppings are extra. They have a great selection of toppings available. They also offer concretes, shakes, and malts. read more
