Delicious! Awesome baked potatoes, loaded fries and the chicken!! Can't go wrong with anything you order from this local spot.

Lindsey was fantastic. my family had a great experience. Excellent customer service. We will definitely be back

Gave them 2nd chance; fail. I got the rib plate. Sorry, but these were the most flavorless, bland ribs I've ever eaten. Meat was juicy but couldn't taste the dry rub on the ribs nor any smokiness in the meat. BBQ sauce just as bland. Dill potato salad; ok but no dill taste? Very plain, shredded cabbage coleslaw; not great. I don't get the 4-5 star reviews; about 1/2 mile away is Bolivar St BBQ; they're excellent and 100x better flavor wise hands down! read more

I'm so incredibly grateful for Southern BBQ. They catered a memorial for my mother in law and they were very efficient, set up fast and was there on time. The food was so good and I loved having that taken care of as it was a difficult weekend for us already. Thank you to Southern BBQ for providing this to us. We truly appreciate the service. read more

Family and I were driving from Oklahoma and were in the mood for BBQ. We saw this place on the side of road and decided to stop by. It definitely hit the spot! The food was delicious! The sides were great! And I could eat their rolls all day!! They also have a variety of BBQ sauces (Original, Sweet, Spicy) and Green Salsa which were all really good. The staff was nice and friendly. Def recommend ! read more

Great bbq and portions are big for the price. Very convenient right on the Highway access road to stop for lunch. Would definitely recommend. read more

I only give them a 4 instead of 5 because their A/C was out. The owner did set up a portable fan near us which was awesome! The food was super yummy. We ordered 2 Wednesday specials and 2 kids meals. My kids aren't huge meat eaters but they ate all of their meals. My husband and I had so much meat with our meals that we had enough for 2 more meals to take home with us. We all highly recommend Southern BBQ for your lunch and family meals! read more

Southern BBQ - Wednesday Special leftovers. So much food we couldn't eat it all - Barbeque Near Me - Sanger, Texas

Great service., the people are genuinely courteous, helpful and pleasant. Great food!!

Beef Brisket, Dill Potatoe Salad, Pulled Pork Sandwich, Sliced Brisket, Meat Plate!!!!!

Service was normal here as most places but as a BBQ reviewer and spending 30$ I was hoping for some really good BBQ. However I had ordered the brisket and upon trying it realized there was no flavor to it. I wasn't even sure if it was smoked to be honest. I was say the place is at the same level as dickeys unfortunately. read more

Sides were plain and not worth the price. The ribs and chicken were ok. I've had way better bar b que from a chain like Dickies or Spring Creek. read more

Not overly impressed. Sliced brisket was tender but mostly very lean which meant almost no flavor. Cole slaw and pinto beans were not impressive at all. Sauce was nothing special and pretty runny. Probably won't go back. Ice cream was good, however. read more

My 91 year old daddy said, and I quote " if I was trying to impress someone, I'd bring them here". I agree daddy, I agree. Ribs were so good they didn't any sauce, and they fell off the bone! read more

Love Southern BBQ. Big portions, Big Love, Big Smiles. Our go to for BBQ in Sanger!! Pecan pie that hits all the comfort spots. Brisket that is melt in your mouth tender. (And from a girl who loves fat cap, theirs is divine) I really love their okra, and my daughter loves the loaded mashed potatoes! read more

AMAZING BBQ! Don't go to Rudy's or Dickey's.... give Southern BBQ a shot. You won't be disappointed. I got the 2 meat dish, smoked chicken/chopped brisket, the sides were the Dill Potato Salad (I don't like tater salad but this Dill Potato Salad was AMAZING) and fries. The rolls were so good I got a dozen to go and the cobbler TOGO of course. read more

I decided to try this BBQ house finally. Dickies used to be in that location. It was ok as well. Today (about 2 hours ago) I ordered the 2 meat plate. I had sliced brisket, ham and 2 sides. The Pinto beans were horrible! Tasted like they had vinegar in them. The coleslaw was lackluster at best. Tasted like someone grated cabbage and put it in a bowl. The ham was tasteless and had the consistency of cardboard. The brisket was so dry and COLD I had to put warm BBQ sauce on it to be able to eat it and it was still cold. No smoke flavor at all. To top it off, a very large hispanic woman came in wearing a shirt from there, walked into the kitchen without washing her hands, started opening cabinets in the serving area and complained about what was and wasn't done. Why is this here and why is that there.... I hope it was just a bad day for them but I doubt VERY seriously I will ever go back and waste my time or money ($12.49)! I wish I had listened to my stomach and gone to Dairy Queen... The owner had the unmitigated gall to attack me for my review. She obviously hasn't bothered to read my reviews on REAL restaurants in the Sanger area.. So sad! read more

Great food, nice people, clean facilities... Very good experience here! Highly recommend giving them your business.

There isn't much around this area. We were camping and felt like takeout. Well, food was ok. Meat was pretty dry and their BBQ sauce was way too sweet. Sides were limited. I would eat here again but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

I catered lunch for my office today from Southern BBQ and all of us were just amazed at how great it was. We were very impressed.

Simple, quick and delicious! Brisket was the best for me. Hubs loved the ribs. Complementary ice cream for din in was a bonus. They offer catering too and it looked very reasonable. Also can buy by the pound meat! We will be back. read more

I really want there to be good BBQ in Sanger. And I was excited about Southern BBQ opening. Pepper Belly outside of Sable Creek wins the contest hands down, and they are mediocre to good. Before I went in, I drove around to the side to see if they had a woodpile. They do. A woodpile doesn't guarantee good BBQ, but no woodpile guarantees bad BBQ. The place smelled slightly smoky, so I was encouraged. Let's start with the good - the place is nicely decorated and laid out, the staff were pleasant and courteous. They worked hard to make sure I'd have a good experience and gave me a loyalty card to make sure I'd come back. The only thing they didn't do was serve good BBQ. The three meat plate with beef brisket, ribs and sausage followed me home. I asked for the brisket to be "dark and fatty". Sadly, it was dry. It had little flavor of any sort, and no smoke flavor. I do believe they scraped the flavorful fat off the brisket. Sad. The meat showed signs of having been cooked too long at too high a heat. The meat was falling apart in a crumbly sort of way. The ribs had a nice amount of "tug" which is to say the meat didn't just fall off the bone. However, again, there was no real flavor and no bark. The last meat was the best, the sausage. I asked if they made their own and was told they got it from the food service truck. It was an honest and well made sausage. However, again, there was no smoke smell or flavor. Two side accompanied the plate. Macaroni and cheese plus BBQ beans. I haven't gotten to the beans yet, but the M&C was nothing to write home about. Bland. REAL bland. It was probably made with a Velveeta substitute. I hope they get better. I'd hoped they'd be better than Dickey's. My suggestion to the management, visit Lockhart Smoke House in Plano and Pecan Lodge in Dallas. Enjoy some great BBQ and think about it. Then send staff to one of the "Camp Smoke's" that Lockhart Smokehouse will be holding in July. GREAT classes from a BBQ joint that is among the top 10 in the DFW area and the top 50 in Texas. It's amazing how short the distance is between meh and WOW! if you're willing to make the journey. read more

These guys are fantastic!!! All their food is really good. My wife and I really enjoy their turkey. All their sides are really good. We would definitely recommend this place!!!!! read more

decent bbq but pricy they are not the greatest bbq in the area do some lookin and review yourself

We eat here weekly, it's that Good! There is a variety of meats, lots of sides (their homemade potato salad is to die for). They have several sized plate, including senior. If you're in a hurry, they have a drive up window. The men who work there can be seen making the meats, fresh, right there. They also have a variety of tacos that are great for a small, quick lunch. I never get the regular plates, there's too much food for me. This is one of those places that all the locals know about and go often. It's clean, decorated in 'Texan' and has two Tv's that are not so loud you can't hear your neighbor. read more

One of the pros of being near Exit 477!!! Okra great, macaroni and cheese amazing. I'm a sides person, so try the charro beans, green beans and loaded mashed potatoes. I always love a salad, so it's a plus that they offer it. I really enjoy the turkey and my kid loves the brisket and ice cream. Rolls are yummy as well. Ms. Margaret is always cool and pleasant. The entire staff is hard working, calm and attentive. Restaurant is always clean. read more

We went through the drive thru for our first visit. The customer service was great. Very thorough. Great, user friendly menu. The food was outstanding. Awesome pulled pork sandwiches!! The bun is thick so you can pile on the bbq sauce. I was most impressed with the fried okra though, it was perfectly seasoned. Or food came out quickly and was amazing. I'll be a return customer often. read more

The family in front of me was 3 adults and one child ( maybe 6) requesting " children eat free with one adult meal" DENIED since the adults asked for water, SERIOUSLY? So one of the adults ordered tea. EYES ROLLED!!! I am next in line, wife just had dental surgery so ordered Mac and cheese, with water. I had 2 meat meal, $22 tab!!! Looked at receipt, charged " split meal charge" of $2. SERIOUSLY??? Took it to the register, no comment, no apology, RIP OFF!! Check you receipt!!! Went there frequently after church, NEVER again! read more

Was traveling through from Reno and stopped on a whim on our way to Ardmore. The staff was extremely friendly. I had a pulled pork sandwich, and I thought it was incredible! Great BBQ and amazing customer service, And great pricing for BBQ. Also free ice cream for all dine in customers can't beat that.

None of the staff were wearing masks while making or handling the food. I found that pretty disappointing when Sanger has a middle school and high school shut down right now due to Covid. We will not be going back. read more

Long wait for food, cashier couldn't work register. Took her over ten minutes to run transaction. Got food to go then when I got home, blocks away, it was all cold. Not very good flavor. Pricey too! Never eating here again read more

Very similar to Dickies BBQ...cafeteria style serving that comes with a boasted price

Pretty good food, the sides always look hot and fresh never like in a crusty pan, the folks are friendly and the prices are fair! My 4 star rating only represents my opinion of the meat itself, and I've had the best all over the country, over all my experiences have been 5 star! I don't eat sweets but pretty sure I saw a free ice cream machine in the lobby which is a total slam dunk throw back! Don't quote me on that read more
