I love so many things about this gym. 1. The space - it's big for the city and I love the garage door open to Clark Street. Great equipment, clean, and cool atmopshere. 2. Location - Great South Loop location but close enough to downtown that I can actually walk here from my office if I want to squeeze in a lunchtime WOD. 3. Programming - this is a big one. I always research a box before I go by looking at their programming online. If you can't find it or if it's lame, I usually won't bother. The programming is really one of the things I think that makes SLSC stand out amongst other boxes in the city. They offer something for every fitness level - they have a fitness, performance, and competition option each day that allows you to pick the right thing for your skill level and desired results. Honestly I've never seen another gym fit so much into an hour class time, but at the same time you aren't rushed get through it and you still get a lot of individualized attention and assistance (more on that below). It really allows you to build a good foundation. 4. Coaching - The coaches here are awesome. They care so much about you and want to help you meet your goals. The classes are small enough that the coach can actually watch you and give feedback and help. That should be a given, but let's be honest it doesn't happen everywhere. I've been doing crossfit 5-6 times a week for 2 years, and every single time I've come here I have learned something new that I've wondered why no one ever told me before. 5. Finally - and this may be my favorite thing - the pride in ownership. The owners are just wonderful people. They aren't people that started a business to make money. They are in it because they just genuinely love crossfit. And that really comes across which I think is really rare.

Ask the Community - South Loop Strength & Conditioning

Can you just go in and do your own thing or is it always class based? Im looking for a gym that's got good enough equipment for cleans/snatch/etc. and that I can actually perform olympic lifts.

We do have open gym hours all day, but most of our members train with our group classes. If you plan on doing open gym during peak hours (before and after work), it can be pretty chaotic and you may be better served training elsewhere. If you have…

The crew at RSTR offers something different than other group fitness classes: 30 minutes of high intensity strength OR endurance focused programming. After taking the Endurance 30 this morning, I definitely felt cardiovascularly challenged. None of the individual components of the work out were to extreme, but the combination of movements and the ability to modify and determine your own intensity made it an incredibly challenging circuit. Another strength of this location is the attention to total body wellness. As part of the intro package, there was an in depth initial assessment, including an InBody scan to breakdown the specifics of the number on the scale. The patience to work through each component of the scan, break down what the metrics mean, and establish goals of where the numbers would ideally be in 3, 6, 9, 12 months was unexpected and fully appreciated. In reality, the South Loop is a gym / fitness facility heavy area but RSTR really differentiates itself through its focus on mindfulness, wellness, fitness, and balance. From nutrition programs, to varied and diverse workouts, to pre-workout stretching, and post-workout aftercare, this is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. It's approachable group fitness with unique, individualized, data driven metrics to measure your progress in a real way.

From the moment you walk in, it's clear they've thought through every detail. Their pricing is surprisingly competitive, especially if you're looking for an unlimited membership. Considering everything that's included, it's one of the best values I've found in boutique fitness. The facilities are exceptional. Yoga mats, towels, and cycling shoes are all provided at no additional cost, which makes showing up for class effortless. The studio is always clean, modern, and well maintained, creating an environment where you can focus entirely on your workout. What truly makes Studio Three stand out is the incredible team of instructors. Sayre, Stu, Katie Lee, Danielle, and Jacqueline consistently deliver challenging, motivating, and thoughtfully programmed classes. Every coach brings a unique style, but they all share the ability to push you while making every workout enjoyable. Let's also not forget the studio management team, Julia, and the amazing front desk associates. Emily always remembers me when I visit, and she truly makes everyone feel at home. After visiting boutique fitness studios across the country for the last decade, I can honestly say Studio Three has set the standard. Between the outstanding instructors, beautiful facilities, convenient amenities, and excellent membership options, it's an easy five-star experience. I recommend it to anyone looking for the best fitness studio in Chicago.

The expert coaches make it so easy: customized workouts, tweaks based on how I am feeling/specific areas I'd like to work on, helping with form, and being great friends and motivators. The community at Fit Results is second to none as well. If you are looking for an approachable gym with fun folks to work out with (and next to) look no further. Semi-private trainers track your progress through body scans, regular check-ins, and the customized workouts they plan for you. Not only do I not have to think about my workout plan, but I know that someone is looking out for making sure I am hitting my long term goals. The gym is super clean, welcoming to all backgrounds and abilities, and led by folks who care. Shoutout to Lou for creating this amazing space, and Steven and Sogol for being the best trainers out there. I feel so much more confident in my body, and strong thanks to ya'll!

From the time I moved to Chicago to getting in shape for my wedding, this place has been part of my life. After a major surgery (a myomectomy to remove a large fibroid), I struggled both physically and mentally. When I returned, I weighed 165 pounds and felt very weak. The Fit Results team met me exactly where I was. They customized a program for me through semi-private training, supported me with nutrition guidance, and helped me rebuild my strength safely. Because of this support, I'm now down to 149 pounds, stronger than ever (from squatting 15 lbs to 125 lbs), off my diabetes medication, and no longer a candidate for cholesterol medication. Group classes are fun & challenging, but if you're recovering from surgery or dealing with cyclical weight changes, I highly recommend personal or semi-private training. Be transparent, they will help you achieve your goals! No judgement! Huge shout-out to the owner AND every trainer at Fit Results--they are all incredibly skilled and truly know how to support you no matter where you are in your fitness journey. #STARTNOW #GETFIT

The owners and coaches are incredibly knowledgeable about multiple fitness methods, including of course Crossfit and Olympic Weightlifting. The coaches take the time to provide individual coaching and assistance when needed and also provide helpful information on topics like mobility and nutrition. The programming is thoughtful, fun, and challenging and encourages members to push themselves while also providing multiple options to scale to a level that makes most sense for you. Another major factor that makes Dog House so great is the community of members. With so many crossfit gyms popping up, it can be hard to tell the difference or know which one is right for you. Crossfit can also be intimidating when you first get started. Dog House provides a great blend of a welcoming environment for people of all abilities and experience levels that also pushes you to go hard and really see progress. Though I have always been a member of some sort of gym for most of my life, Dog House is the first gym I have been a part of that has motivated me to work harder than I ever would have on my own. I have met many awesome people and made great friends from being a part of this community and I consider myself lucky to have found it. Oh, and I'm also a lot stronger than I used to be, so if none of this mushy "we love each other" stuff appeals to you, just come lift heavy things with us and get way more awesome. Bottom line: Great owners and coaching, great programming, and super great community. If nothing else, come check out a free Saturday morning class and see for yourself.

When I first tried the workout I was intrigued by the soft surface, because I'd never experience running like that. You actually hook into the machine with a Velcro strap that you wrap around your waist and fall forward! The machine has TRX straps on the sides and can be used to do a variety of strength and core building exercises. As a former OrangeTheory member, I was use to the High Intensity Interval Training portion of the class, but the machine itself was very unique. It has an air cushion that you can adjust to increase the difficult of your workout! They have a heart rate monitor system that shows you the results of your workout much like OrangeTheory but overall the workout is really amazing! It is definitely intense! I recently tried their beach surface which allowed me to burn over 800 calories and really challenged me to utilize muscles in my legs, calves and feet that I don't often use during regular workouts. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming! I would definitely recommend Sproing to anyone looking for a quality low impact muscle taxing workout that will leave you feeling energized and invigorated! We've both been on an exercise kick recently and she ensured me that Sproing was an excellent workout. During the first of my two workouts of the weekend, I found myself trying to adjust to the machine. It's a cross between a treadmill and a mattress. While the floor of the machine took a little getting used to, I was also facing backwards and strapped in, which made the whole thing a little odd at first. We sprinted, worked our core, did pushups, and used weights. It was a good, high impact workout that centered around interval training. Once I had a feel for the place, my second workout was even better. Cullen was an awesome instructor and he really kept us motivated, encouraging us to push ourselves until the last second. We could see if we were heeding to his advice by watching the big screens in the studio that showed us in real time how we were doing, based on our heart rate monitors. I got a great sweat in over that weekend thanks to the instructors and I found the desk staff to be very welcoming and helpful. The space is clean and new, the bathrooms are spotless and very "homey", and the equipment is sanitized regularly. This is a unique workout for sure and it can be tailored to your fitness level. Try it out if you have time.
