I love so many things about this gym. 1. The space - it's big for the city and I love the garage door open to Clark Street. Great equipment, clean, and cool atmopshere. 2. Location - Great South Loop location but close enough to downtown that I can actually walk here from my office if I want to squeeze in a lunchtime WOD. 3. Programming - this is a big one. I always research a box before I go by looking at their programming online. If you can't find it or if it's lame, I usually won't bother. The programming is really one of the things I think that makes SLSC stand out amongst other boxes in the city. They offer something for every fitness level - they have a fitness, performance, and competition option each day that allows you to pick the right thing for your skill level and desired results. Honestly I've never seen another gym fit so much into an hour class time, but at the same time you aren't rushed get through it and you still get a lot of individualized attention and assistance (more on that below). It really allows you to build a good foundation. 4. Coaching - The coaches here are awesome. They care so much about you and want to help you meet your goals. The classes are small enough that the coach can actually watch you and give feedback and help. That should be a given, but let's be honest it doesn't happen everywhere. I've been doing crossfit 5-6 times a week for 2 years, and every single time I've come here I have learned something new that I've wondered why no one ever told me before. 5. Finally - and this may be my favorite thing - the pride in ownership. The owners are just wonderful people. They aren't people that started a business to make money. They are in it because they just genuinely love crossfit. And that really comes across which I think is really rare.

Ask the Community - South Loop Strength & Conditioning

Can you just go in and do your own thing or is it always class based? Im looking for a gym that's got good enough equipment for cleans/snatch/etc. and that I can actually perform olympic lifts.

We do have open gym hours all day, but most of our members train with our group classes. If you plan on doing open gym during peak hours (before and after work), it can be pretty chaotic and you may be better served training elsewhere. If you have… Read more

From the time I moved to Chicago to getting in shape for my wedding, this place has been part of my life. After a major surgery (a myomectomy to remove a large fibroid), I struggled both physically and mentally. When I returned, I weighed 165 pounds and felt very weak. The Fit Results team met me exactly where I was. They customized a program for me through semi-private training, supported me with nutrition guidance, and helped me rebuild my strength safely. Because of this support, I'm now down to 149 pounds, stronger than ever (from squatting 15 lbs to 125 lbs), off my diabetes medication, and no longer a candidate for cholesterol medication. Group classes are fun & challenging, but if you're recovering from surgery or dealing with cyclical weight changes, I highly recommend personal or semi-private training. Be transparent, they will help you achieve your goals! No judgement! Huge shout-out to the owner AND every trainer at Fit Results--they are all incredibly skilled and truly know how to support you no matter where you are in your fitness journey. #STARTNOW #GETFIT

We've both been on an exercise kick recently and she ensured me that Sproing was an excellent workout. During the first of my two workouts of the weekend, I found myself trying to adjust to the machine. It's a cross between a treadmill and a mattress. While the floor of the machine took a little getting used to, I was also facing backwards and strapped in, which made the whole thing a little odd at first. We sprinted, worked our core, did pushups, and used weights. It was a good, high impact workout that centered around interval training. Once I had a feel for the place, my second workout was even better. Cullen was an awesome instructor and he really kept us motivated, encouraging us to push ourselves until the last second. We could see if we were heeding to his advice by watching the big screens in the studio that showed us in real time how we were doing, based on our heart rate monitors. I got a great sweat in over that weekend thanks to the instructors and I found the desk staff to be very welcoming and helpful. The space is clean and new, the bathrooms are spotless and very "homey", and the equipment is sanitized regularly. This is a unique workout for sure and it can be tailored to your fitness level. Try it out if you have time.

Filled with enthusiasm and energy, the sproing fitness instructor definitely motivated each and every one of us to work hard and push ourselves to get the most out of the workout. A heart rate monitor will be attached to an elastic band that you strap around your waist. There is a screen that shows how each individual's % max heart rate which essentially shows how hard you're working out. You are attached to the sproing machine with a Velcro strap that you wrap around your waist and you do exercises on a soft, cushioned surface. The idea of sproing is to do running based high intensity interval training (HIIT) - 20 seconds of work intervals with 10 seconds of rest intervals. Each class is 45 minutes where it's 30 minutes of HIIT. At the end of the class, you get emailed a summary of your workout results which shows how many calories you burned. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Sure, it may feel like your body will give up on you and you'll feel really sore after..but it hurts so good. With an incredible staff + intense but fun workout, I highly, highly recommend sproing fitness!

I love the HIIT style with intervals of running (speed, incline) and strength training (body area targeted differs depending on day of the week). I also like how every single class I've been to is different-- they switch it up constantly and are really creative. To top it off, they made me feel like a queen on my birthday with this sign at check in. They also left a birthday card on my treadmill. Love Barry's :)

I came in with 3 of my girl friends, we were all new to this location and class. Let's just say, this 50 min run + lower body focused class was an absolute caloric BURNER!!! Our instructor, Jen D., was so motivating and truly pushed all of us to our pinnacle -- absolute kick as* of a coach and I personally recommend trying out her class, even if it's just one. We took a 6:40pm, 50 min class, and wanted to shower afterwards. On 2/27/24 there was a rain storm we didn't realize was projected to happen after our class. We went in for a shower, and as soon as I stepped out, a kind member of Barry's let us know about this storm and that she would appreciate if we could try to get ready as fast as possible so that we, along with the staff won't be stranded there. She mentioned she along with the rest of her coworkers would like to leave early for this purpose but, that they will stay until we leave. I didn't get her name, but she was forth coming about making us aware of a storm and that we should head out as soon as we can. I was drying off and changed into my clothes and dried the roots of my hair (unknowing of a *rain* storm, ugh!) I would not have tried drying the roots of my hair if I knew it was going to be pouring outside! After briefly doing that, she came back in and let me know the closed at 8pm and that we needed to leave so, I understood but was still waiting for my friend to get out of the shower. It's 7:55pm, and a different member named Tina came in and in a very rude tone told us that we were given warnings to leave, yet we were not leaving. I reminded her that I was fully dressed waiting on my friend who just got out of the shower and that once she gets clothes on that we will leave. I asked for her name and she mentioned I was being inappropriate for asking. As I was trying to de-escalate the way her approach came off, she stormed out of the ladies locker room. I was shocked! We got our stuff and walked out but before leaving, I mentioned this was my first time and I didn't know they closed at 8pm, nor was I aware of how severe the storm was, truly! I mentioned to Tina I don't want bad blood but, this experience she gave me made me feel incredibly uncomfortable. There was no true apology for how she spoke to my friend and I, but now I just don't feel welcome which is hard to say after a great workout. My friends and I would like to keep going to this location and we wished we knew more about closing times ahead of our workout to plan accordingly and ultimately avoid this unnecessarily uncomfortable experience that was truly brought on by how we were talked to. I'm sure if we were trusted to leave after being communicated to kindly, we would have shed a few minutes from our time there. We left at 8:23pm. Again, I would love to keep coming here, but now I'm questioning keeping my package and currently on the fence about recommending this location to athletes in my network. It is so valid to feel frustrated and almost irritable at guests that aren't moving fast enough; I feel that! It is not okay to talk to people in the way we were talked to. It's not hospitality, it's hostility, and it's truly not something I'm sure was intentional. At the end of the day, we're paying for the class and the experience at Barry's. We left disheartened by the way we were talked to. I'm a very easy going gal and deeply understand that everyone is going through something. Everyone. But again, we were complying and there is a way to talk with people - this was certainly not one of them.
