I came down to hang out with our niece for a quick overnight trip. After doing some errands we decided to grab some food. It was pretty busy, but still summer (08/02) so I imagine not as busy as it is during the school year. Service was okay. They had a large party on the patio so we were stuck inside. We had to wait a bit for our server to come to the table and weren't offered water (had to ask) but maybe that's some restaurants policies. They have a really large beer selection, but being one who isn't a beer drinking I opted for a margarita. It was okay. Keeping with the theme I ordered the Cilantro Pesto Pasta. The description was interesting and I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or not. It 100% did not disappoint. The combination of cilantro pesto with noodles and beans and corn and chicken was amazing. I literally could not stop eating it. It's totally not what I expected. If you are looking for something a little different then the usual hamburger or fish&chip fare, I highly recommend this dish. Food is good! Probably wasn't a terrible thing we were also starving! We stopped in here on a Friday night and it was hopping. How had to wait about 30 minutes for the three of us to get seated. Service was very friendly and efficient. Once we were seated we were immediately asked if we want any appetizers or drinks which I appreciated. Ended up getting the wings for an appetizer and the salad wraps which I highly recommend! Atmosphere of the restaurant is ok as location is a strip mall type of a place but it is Pullman after all the crowd is young and vibe was good! Macaroni and cheese order was a little bland. Great college hangout in a slightly sketchy strip mall south of downtown Pullman! We rolled in hot, sweaty, and hungry. We left stuffed, hydrated, and with smiles!! We started with cooooold PAC NW beers on tap - Widmer Hefeweizen for me and White Rascal witbier for my husband - man! Those cold beers hit the spot! Then it was on to dinner. I got the chicken guacamole burger, which was made with absolutely fresh well seasone guac and a perfectly cooked chicken breast with bacon and cheese - I substituted the local WSU-made Cougar Good cheese for the provolone. We love Cougar gold - and if canned cheese grosses you out you need to get over it - Cougar Gold is great stuff! Hubby had the cheeseburger, sub Cougar Gold for regular cheddar, and sub WSU Wagyu beef (2.50 upcharge for the Wagyu). A great Pullman staple featuring lots of local favorites! A few vegetarian options, but falafel is pretty much the only vegan option. The black bean burger contains eggs, & olive oil & vinegar is the only vegan salad dressing. Stooped for lunch. Had the Southwest Chicken salad. The ingredients were amazingly fresh, well balanced and the dressing was a really good blend of seasonings. Also had a Bourbon Peach Ice Tea which was so I had another. Stopped for lunch a few days later and had one of the best cheeseburgers I've ever had. Went here move-in weekend and as one would expect it was busy, table for 6 equaled a 30 minute wait. No problem, we went over to Rite Aid and did a little dorm shopping. A little before 30 minutes was up they called to say the table was ready. We were immediately seated and given ice waters and menus. My husband was even able to order my wine which was waiting on the table by the time I got back from schlepping the Rite Aid bags to the car. When our son decided to join us 30 minutes into the meal, our server didn't bat an eye, but quickly put in his order and had a water for him before he arrived. So clearly service is NOT the issue. So what is? Hold on just a moment longer. Continuing with what else WAS good: Mac n cheese (which was the whole reason we went there as my oldest daughter LOVES!) Breadsticks-- literally melt in your mouth amazing yumminess-- trust me and order them Lentil-Beef Chili- yes the weather was in the 80's but this stuff rocked and came topped with sour cream and cheddar cheese and just the right amount of seasoning (translation- not over salty). Cosmo- took a few to get but it was on point Ok...we had the good..now the bad and the ugly: We ordered an appy to start and chose the pita and spreads sampler. Came out at a perfect time, but in a plastic basket in wax paper (think local DQ chicken basket) with 3 tiny plastic cups (ketchup size) filled with the dips and smeared flat on the top (so not even over flowing). After we each took our 1/8 t. Of dip and smeared with our butter knives onto grocery store pita bread we munched. Tzatziki pretty good, hummus forgettable but the "chutney" (we asked the server who delivered the dips what was in it and she did not know) was bad...something in it was expired or moldy or just wrong...we all tried a tiny bit and gagged. Dinner- One daughter ordered the special chicken caprese sandwich on ciabatta w/o tomato's--- chicken and bun had been chargrilled so too smoky for her liking, even with the spicy pesto and fresh mozzarella it just couldn't "glue" the sandwich together..after just 2 bites she lost it all over her plate. Son had the BBQ pork sandwich.. it was meh Kids chicken strips and fries were fine. I tried the special tacos and was sadly disappointed... 2 tacos filled with chunks of dried out beef, over ripe pico (I scraped off), black beans and cilantro rice (surprised to come with rice and beans ON the tacos. Was this a burrito or tacos...tacitto? Burraco? I do also like that they offer an additional side with everything u order, so since I got the tacos hubby had a cup of chili + my side, choosing pesto pasta salad, which he enjoyed, forewarning quite spicy! I graduated 8 years ago and remember coming to South Fork specifically for the mac n cheese. I came in yesterday while visiting town and was massively disappointed. There was barely any cheese sauce so I asked for more cheese. Well, it didn't even taste like cheese nor did it have a cheesy texture. The prime rib sandwich is good because they slice it thin. If you ask for creamy horseradish they bring you a huge spatula chunk of raw horseradish in a ramekin. You have to ask for the sour cream and make it yourself. Who eats that much horseradish anyway? Portion control. Lol Great bar the nachos were not good. The pasta side is ok. Slow service at the front to be seated a couple of itchy waitresses who don't k ow the art of serving tables. Then there was a gal named whitney. She was great. Blonde guy who worked at the bar he was fast and friendly too. Good drinks and conversation. This was our first trip to this restaurant. We are new to town and came here after dropping our son at college across town. The restaurant was busy but sat us fairly quickly which was great because we were so hungry. The waitress came after a few minutes and took our order. Other families were being seated around us. We noticed other tables that were seated after we ordered getting their food so asked about our order (40 minutes after ordering). The waitress went to check and came back very embarrassed that she had forgotten to submit our order and we needed to order again. We asked to talk with the manager who said he would help get things going quickly. My wife asked for some appetizers to hold us over until the food came. We said we know mistakes happen but we just want something to eat. They sent some fries and a veggie tray - both were good. So our orders finally came 20 minutes later and our son devoured his burger. He said it was good. I had fish and chips which were average and my wife had fish tacos which were about the same. Then the waitress brought the check - again apologetic about her error. They hadn't charged us for the appetizers but they charged full price for the food and drinks. We were shocked. The manager had a chance to try and save the situation from being so poor by comping our meals, taking the drink charges off, comping 50%, etc. We were expected to pay full fare. He saw us on our way out after we paid the bill and asked how our meal was. We explained our disappointment and he said he was on his way to ask us if we wanted free desserts. Too late. He said talk to him next time and he will take care of us - there will be no next time. Anyway, the bottom line is a mistake was made which we understand, but the true failure is the lack of management taking control and making the best of the situation. They sell an experience that includes food. We probably would have come back for the food (though tried other items) but the poor experience and customer service will have us going elsewhere. Southfork owners - please don't fire the waitress; she was young and still learning and was ok otherwise. Talk with your managers about how to handle unhappy customers. You made $60 from us but lost so much more in reputation and future business - we will share our experience with others we know who have kids at WSU or are planning on going. read more

I got a to go order here while on a road trip with my husband. I got the bacon cheeseburger and the Philly cheesesteak wrap with side salads. The salad was a good size with really tasty ranch and croutons. The burger was cooked well with good filling to bun ratio. Tasted good without adding anything to it. The philly was cooked well, but the meat had no taste, it was just tender. I probably wouldn't order that again, but would definitely come back and try other items. Nice atmosphere. They had a few IPAs as far as beer goes which was nice at the time. I loved their pulled pork nachos! I've also had their burgers, which were good; I really like their fries, but once I got there too soon after opening and my fries were still a little frozen when they came.
