In November 2025, I decided that my 60 ft. redwood fence had to be replaced. Approximately 40 years…read moreold, it had been aging with grace until the last few years. The wood was severely damaged by wood beetles, storms, wind, rain and overall decaying wood. I spoke with a representative from Jacob Construction who confirmed that they do specialize in this type of project. I booked an appointment for a free assessment. I previously sought out other companies who gave me extremely high estimates of what a fence of this size would cost using redwood. One estimate as hight as 28k. Arriving on time was a professional gentleman, Leo, who understood my need for a new fence and the best way to begin this project. We spoke at length and I had some pleasant surprises. Leo was quick to assess the safety factors and the practicality of a certain type of fence. Above all, he had different resources for my situation, for keeping the fence at a reasonable price. This company really knows their business! THEY ARE WONDERFUL TO WORK WITH! I live in a house that was built in 1950 and was partially rebuilt after an electrical fire in 2017. After assessing the status of my home, they proceeded to ask me more about the foundation considering the year the home was built. The foundation, crawl space and sub-floor was in tact after the fire, but in all those years the original foundation had never been updated. I live on the coast, south of San Francisco, California and earthquake concerns are very real. Leo was able to offer me a free inspection, considering the possible hazard risks, I agreed and the inspection definitely was a blessing. After viewing photos of a crack and the lack of supports to the existing structure, a retrofitting was definitely needed as a preventative measure. Leo and Joseph met with me and explained all the details, answered all of my questions. We reached an agreement and the work was completed and passed a city inspection. They assessed my home with the goal of making it as safe as possible and preventing further very expensive mishaps. I appreciated their approach which undoubtedly would have cost me more than I can imagine. I have a policy with the California Earthquake Authority. I am now able to activate a reduced annual cost due to proactive repair against possible damage. I have rental properties and am quite aware of the need to hire construction people you can trust. I would not hesitate to hire Jacob Construction again. To be explicit, Leo, as Project Manager and Joseph as V.P. completed a superb project in every way. The crews were real pros. They were detail oriented and timely. They kept a clean, organized, professional work site. The overall workmanship was excellent. This includes the retrofitting project as well. My parents finally agreed to renovate their home that they lived in for approximately 30 years. Thankfully, Joseph was able to also communicate with them in Korean which made it easier for my parents to communicate everything they wanted. That was a HUGE relief! They underwent a major renovation (all new floors, gut-renovated the kitchen, gut-renovated all bathrooms, knocked down walls to expand space, new ceiling/lighting fixtures, etc). The finishes were impeccable and my absolute favorite feature were the heated wood floors in the living room/family room. My parents' house was always freezing and this was such a lovely feature so we don't have to blast the heater or turn on the fireplace. We shopped around quite a bit (I'm all about finding the best deal!) and for the quality of the work and the glowing reviews (a friend referred us), we found their pricing to be incredibly competitive. I'm also queen of complaints so I went through to find any possible issues and I'm really surprised at how happy I am with the work. It literally feels like my parents moved in to a brand new home. Tom is the owner of Shenon Construction, and as first time homeowners with a master bedroom addition being our first construction project, we approached Tom both cautiously and slowly. We first talked 8 years ago and Tom was so incredibly patient, answering all our questions and going round after round with meetings. He led us through HVAC and window considerations before we even committed to the project. He subsequently drafted a thoughtful and detailed plan, connecting us with his designer to get things started. Enter COVID and our infamously slow city planning department. It took almost five years just to get our permit approval. Tom kept advising us throughout and his recommended designer diligently re-submitted plan after plan. Tom never showed an ounce of impatience and after five years, a project needs to be re-bid. Impressively, Tom encouraged us to price compare contractors once again. We knew Tom so well at this point and he still carefully re-walked us through every step of the process and cost. Once again, no one came close to Tom and Shenon in their ability to earn our trust. When we finally kicked things off at the end of July, we were introduced to our project manager, Adam. Hands down the most detail-oriented, organized, and responsible person we've ever met, Adam was at our house almost every day. Memorably, he echoed Tom in saying every tiny detail or concern goes through them. From then on, we saw every worker arrive on time doing incredible work. We discussed endlessly the closet sizes, number of light fixtures, which windows pass code, who does lead remediation, replacing the basement access, where to fit a sun tunnel, what height to make our deck, yes or no to gutters, color choice after color choice, and on and on. Adam smiled throughout, had answers to every question, and always replied with a 'just let me know'! Everything was built to meet Tom and Adam's high standards. We received to-do lists weekly, a spread out payment schedule, and met with scores of expert sub-contractors. Tom and Adam did all this while juggling around our living in the home, limiting dust and noise, and being ever mindful of our cat. Adam went above-and-beyond here, as well, responding to our group text chats anytime day or night and was excellent handling our day-to-day needs while sending the big project questions to Tom. We ultimately became friendly with these guys and can't imagine any homeowner not feeling the same. It was amazing to see our room go from foundation to framing to finishing--everything happened so quickly! In fact, the whole project took about five months, wrapping up with the final inspection an entire month ahead of schedule. We now have a wood-floor master bedroom with a large picture window, an subway-tiled master bathroom with wet room shower/bath combo, a much needed walk-in-closet, and a lovely wood deck patio with a pergola. We absolutely love our new space, and we couldn't be more thankful to Shenon. We've heard from friends and neighbors about construction nightmares, littered with no shows, hard to reach GCs, shoddy workmanship, and unfulfilled follow-ups. Shenon construction is the complete opposite. Tom keeps every promise and provides options for aesthetics and saving money, but never compromises on quality. Adam's care and hard work makes the project smooth and keeps the excitement of building fun and alive. They're just awesome, and we can't recommend them enough. Shenon Construction earns all of their positive reviews and we're so happy we chose them. We only hope we can work with them again!

Fear! That was why I never had done remodeling before. You hear all the horror stories of bad…read morecontractors - taking too long, doing a half-assed job, while going 50% over budget. Then, I got a slab leak. No choice but to do something. I have two bathrooms. At the time, they could have been on "world's worst bathrooms"; hideous 1970's "décor" with disco lighting and stained, pattern linoleum flooring. The shower stall had a plastic, accordion-style door with magnets on each end (who DOES that?!). I figured, whatever a contractor does, can't be worse. Then, I found Zachi of S & B Construction on yelp. Best thing I ever did for my home was to call Zachi. My house and my quality of enjoyment of it, and my view of what a contractor can be, have completely and utterly changed. I could tell from the moment he came over to do the bid he was great, and he only exceeded all my expectations throughout the job. He and his team completely gutted both baths, and now I have two bathrooms that are essentially luxury hotel baths. They are beautifully done (everyone says so!). He put in stone tile showers (with glass accent tile - it's so awesome!), a deep soaking tub, custom glass shower doors, stone floors, wood vanities with granite countertops, and custom lighting. They're bright and colorful (that's my taste!), and it makes me happy just to enter the rooms. The job was done from start to finish in three weeks. Yes, that fast! That included Zachi arranging for the plumbing inspections and everything. We never had to worry about any of it! Zachi was there every step of the way, from design (he met up with us to buy the materials - it was great!) to finishing touches, and we could not have done it without him. Actually, his intuition is terrific, because he even had some better ideas than we did! I liked all the workers on his team. They were polite and courteous, very hard working, and always on time. Zachi was constantly supervising their progress, as well as always available and responsive to questions. Here's what I'm certain of. Zachi wants the customer to be happy. I asked lots of questions and wanted specific things. I only ever had to ask for something once; Zachi ALWAYS remembered without my reminding him of things and always got them done! Even things I just mentioned once during the bid got done. This is important, too. He always left us with a "usable" house during the renovation. Although he did both baths, he staggered the demolition and renovation, so we always had the basic facilities. At night and especially on weekends, he'd make sure the house was cleaned up enough for us to do what we needed. Budget? The job was done to the budget on the nose (I went over by a few hundred, because I picked out an extra accent tile), even though things happened (e.g., the plumber had to put in an access panel for one of the showers). The budget was extremely detailed (way more than any others we had been given), so you knew exactly what to expect. Amazing! On a personal level, Zachi is smart, super nice and pleasant to work with. I can't thank Zachi enough. Bad day at work, I head to my gorgeous soaking tub, the world falls away and aaaahhhhh! Can't beat that. I love my house. Actually, it's more of a home now. I have called a couple of handymen in the past, but one came once to look at them but then didn't show up on the next appointment. The other one's schedule didn't work out. After that, I was discouraged and had put off these projects. Thanks for the other yelp users' reviews, I found Zachi. He was fast and professional and in and out of my house 3 times within 3 days in total and both sets of shower sliding doors are now fixed. He charges by hours, but his charge was very ethical and reasonable. I felt that he undercharged me. We hadn't used one of the showers for years because the shower doors were falling apart, so I am so grateful that it's finally fixed.
