Creative, delicious drinks and incredible frozen custard! We enjoyed the "Silk Slipper" and special-for-the holidays "Sweater Weather" coffees. The cinnamon roll was just the right sweetness, not overkill. So glad that Sourdough Cuppa Joe's revived and partners with Nana's Frozen Custard. We had the cookie custard sandwich, it didn't disappoint. Made on order, we chose the homemade chocolate chip cookies with vanilla custard. So good!! It's a small place, so not tons of indoor seating. One recommendation would be to lower the "table" (shelf) across from the counter, it's a bit too high for the chairs provided. WOW! This place is amazing. I was planning on heading to Starbucks before seeing this on the map and chose to stop here instead. Let me just say I made the right decision. I ordered at the walk up and took my time looking at the menu. Never felt rushed while doing so. I ordered 1 broccoli and cheese quiche , 1 bacon & cheese quiche both with a slice of sourdough and strawberry jam. 1 sugar free vanilla iced latte & a honey cinnamon latte. Everything was SOOO GOOD. I paid about $20ish for all of it and it was so worth the price. I was expecting to pay more maybe even $35 considering some places charge $8 for a slice of sourdough. The sugar free latte so good. No weird after taste. The honey cinnamon latte was the best!! You have to try it. The quiche was so flavorful and fluffy. The sourdough was great as well. Will be back for sure. read more

The big sign on the building that says "Nana's Frozen Custard confused us initially, as we were looking for Sourdough Cuppa Joe. As we pulled in we noticed the much smaller sign out front. If you've never been here, look for Nana's! Very nice and clean with extremely friendly staff. The smile never left the face of young lady assisting us and she was patient as we asked a lot of questions. She gladly provided samples of the custard as well. I have the Cappuccino Crunch. Vanilla custard with toffee bits, a shot of espresso all mixed. Yum. My wife had the Reece's River: custard served in a "boat" with a base of mocha chocolate, peanut butter, covered with Reece's Pieces and topped with 2 peanut butter cups. Both were very nicely presented and tasted absolutely wonderful. They also have all kinds of coffee products made to order and baked goods like scones to accompany your coffee if desired. You know when you walk up to the counter somewhere and the employee says anything to you? They just kinda wait for you to make the first move? That's what happened here. The women behind the counter didn't seem thrilled to be helping my friend and I but we both ignored it and kept on moving. We asked about a few baked goods and the woman answered. We ordered. I told her I wanted a muffin and she answered back "a scone?" I had to repeat myself. It was an odd exchange and maybe she was having an off day but it was never rectified. I waited almost ten minutes to get my iced tea and my friend waited even longer for her pour over. They weren't super busy and I'm really left confused by what the heck just happened. I noticed there was a drive through. The place looks like an old diner and actually has two signs up-one being their name and one is something else. They have several baked goods options and both mine and my friends muffin and scone-were good. Side note there's a longer table (it's a door lying on its side) that were sitting at when a man in a wheelchair with a woman I'm assuming is his wife came in. He had a shirt on that said he was a veteran, but that's beside the point. I'm just sayin that of COURSE if someone in a wheelchair comes in you make accommodations where and when and how you can. My friend and I immediately started moving our things and said hey you guys can sit here if you'd like we are taking up too much space anyway. They sat down. Before leaving the woman said hey thank you for moving your things for us. We come in here all the time and you're only the second person to help us find a comfortable spot to sit. So-public service announcement. Pull your head out of your you know what, people! Look around. Say hello. Make accommodations when you see a need. Go out of your way. Say thank you. Be a good human. Love this place. The owner is so great. Everyone who works there is incredibly polite and attentive. I get the Rude Awakening with extra cream. It's always perfect. Recently I've been getting food for the family since my gym is next door. The sandwiches are fantastic. Great ingredients and they even make the bread there! I have a picky eater and this is his favorite place to go. He especially likes the Treasure Chest. If you order that be prepared for sweetness overload! Took a nice morning drive to check this place out. It's pretty neat inside an old walk-up drive in restaurant. The interior is nice and inviting. There were two people ahead of me and there were two people working inside while one of their co-workers rested on a bench out front. It took a minute or 3 to work through the two customers ahead; mostly it looked like processing through a discount they had. I ordered a small coffee and muffin. I waited longer than I expected for a basic order; the employee did apologize for the wait and kept me informed of the status. Outside of the service being slow the employee was very pleasant. They charge by weight, ounces The chocolate was bland, as stated in the previous reviews. DON' T get the chocolate, its missing the chocolate factor. Neat lil place in Hixson. We started out going to Einstein Bros but I changed my mind. Give the lil guy some business. Damn, I called this one so well, go me! For ten bucks, we got: 2 Quiches, a HUGE piece of sourdough with apple butter, and a muffin. We had our own drinks (water). Sourdough is a cool lil place. We ate outside before it got humid, there are a few seats but we used the upright tables and stood. It made me feel more European. I've only been there twice. I have no idea why I said that or what it means. The food was great. One of the best pieces of sourdough I have ever had, compared to Niedlovs in Chattanooga. My first visit and impression is that they are pretty good! I ordered a dirty chai so I didn't have to deal with the, how many sugars/creamers question that some others pointed out they don't like. A dirty chai if you don't know like I didn't is normal chai tea with milk and then a shot of espresso. Heck ya! I also got the spinach artichoke quiche and a slice of sourdough bread with blackberry jam. There was a bit of a wait, this isn't Starbucks. While I was waiting I looked around a bit. It's true the inside is not really conducive to dining. There are a couple of small tables and then one bigger table that used to be a door. Well it is still a door but is functioning as a table. There are a couple of benches outside and some stand up tables around the front patio cover. This is still set up more like a walk up custard shop. I took some pictures to post on Yelp of various things, feeling like a spy. Food comes and I got it to go. I was going to stand outside, however the sun is by now shining on the stand up tables and benches on one side and on the other side are some screaming kids and a mom. Ok, home it is. I get in my car and flip open the lid. My first thought when he handed me the take out container was that it felt light. Both of my food items are in there. The quiche is more like a spinach, egg and cheese muffin cup kind of thing, not really what I would call a quiche. It's small but I think I only paid $2.25 for it? Plus they discounted my whole bill .75 because I ordered a coffee and food. I grabbed a bit of the quiche cup thing and it is very good. Most definitely savory. The quiche was stuck on top of my sourdough bread which I didn't like so I just slide the quiche off the bread and closed the lid so I could eat it when I got home. Home and the quiche is gone in a few bites and then I spread the blackberry jam on that nice slide of bread. Oh now that is heaven. I am wishing I had gotten two slices of bread. Heck maybe even a whole loaf? Do they sell that stuff by the loaf? I can't remember. They should though. So yeah, I'm very happy I finally tried the place since I have lived here 3 years now and have driven by the defunct Nana's Frozen Custard, even looking it up to see what was going on with it. Then finally seeing the new sign for Sourdough Cuppa Joe but just never making it there. If they were open on Sunday I would have already been at least 10 times. We have been meaning to make it there ever since we heard they were serving Nana's custard, which we knew we love from previous experience. We got three kid cones and a chocolate milkshake.
