The employee there who called himself "TJ" mentioned that her phone was cracked (upsell tactic) and offered to fix it. She specifically told the employee that she didn't want the back of her phone fixed, just her battery replaced. The employee took the phone and told her it would be about an hour to replace so she left and came back when it was ready. She discovered the back of the phone was replaced and the battery remained. She complained that she did not ask for this service and requested her initial service. To her dismay the employee informed her there would be an extra charge for the service of her initial request and would only offer a discount for his mistake. He admitted his mistake but still had the gall to charge her. This is unacceptable that she received and paid for a service she specifically said she did not want. She has been scammed and everyone needs to know what type of business they may deal with when going to this establishment. Be wary of their business. Before taking my stereo receiver into Doctor Video I called repair shops in Northern VA, Richmond, and Roanoke, all of which quoted me more than $100 to replace a piece of hardware that costs less than $3 online. Mike at Doctor Video was very reasonable to deal with; I spent less than $50 getting the issue fixed and had the pleasure of some of the best customer service from a repair shop in my life. My only gripe was that the repair took a bit long however in the grand scheme of things, I would rather wait an extra few weeks for the repair to be finished than pay more than double the price to shops with rude technicians or poorly experienced repairmen. But it's what came after that prompts my 5 star review. The next day, my son and I put together a new desktop. Got it talking to my older printer, but when I printed the test page, the printer screamed (loud warning beep) and my desktop shut down. Holten spent over an hour on the phone with me, walking me through the various possibilities of what could have prompted this bizarre behavior (turns out the plug in that corner of the room was shorting -- moved the printer to another room, problem solved). But it took an hour or more to get there. And Holten guided me through it, no extra charge. Because he backs up his work -- problem with the printer, he'll figure it out.
