Well I had been in the day before, and the person that helped me really tried to find the right type of cabinet screw for my special project. That was great. Today, with all the rain, I needed boots. Of course it was the end of the season and a lot were purchased. I have to tell you that the person, the lady, that helped me was a gift from heaven. My size and narrow foot made it impossible for me to fit in the ankle height. But she sure did try, did it in such a nice way, and her patience is incredible. I have NO clue why this store is an Ace Hardware store!?!! They don't adhere to Ace programs! Had several items to buy and get the cash register and the lady said we don't use the Ace program and was actually kinda of rude to my wife and i when we questioned cause we didn't understand! So I told her to cancel the transaction and walked out. We went to a Real Ace Hardware in Atlantic Beach!!!! Plus their customer service is so much better than Sound Ace!!!!!! This is the nicest Ace Hardware I've ever been to and it's all down to the staff. We were greeted at the front door by the neighborhood kitty and then inside the door by the resident cat Ace. A very friendly and helpful gentlemen helped us find a shell scoop and a yeti wine glass and we enjoyed chatting with him. Amazing selection of Yeti, Cartwright, and all sorts of other things for the home. Great store and great people! read more

I reside in Emerald isle and do business often with Sound Ace Hardware mainly because it's local, the people working there are fantastic and helpful. On August 5, 2016 I went into the store with an unusual issue with a beach chair I had purchased some time ago and had no receipt. I buy a new chair every year from the store because I'm looking for a particular chair that's difficult to find and thankfully they have it. I was greeted by the Assistant Manager, Melissa, and explained my issue. Melissa was very patient and genuinely concerned about customer satisfaction. After examining my beach chair Melissa had a brief conversation with the owner, Janel White, and I was immediately provided with a new chair...no hassles, no back and forth posturing. In closing, many other businesses would have refused to take any action on the customer's behalf and that would have been it. It's SO nice to have a hardware store right here on the island, but they don't just sell tools. This Ace Hardware has beach gear, garden decor, gifts, and so much more. Definitely worth a visit. Also, one of my favorite aisles has traditional kitchen items. They carry brands that are hard to find anywhere else. I have had the worst experience at Ace with one of the WORST employees in my life. I was in there looking for a Milwaukee 44-7-8in Corded Band Saw Kit (11 amps, 120v, 380rpm). I asked the following associate if they had this in stock. He proceeded to ignore me as he slept in the plastic Ace shopping bags. To get his attention again, I booped his nose, at that time, he blinked rapidly, yawned and then abruptly jumped off the counter. Though the employee was quite adorable, he definitely requires additional customer service training. I am still rating the business 5 stars as they are one of the first companies I've visited that has such a diverse staff. And yes, this employee was a cat. Meow. read more

Wow what a great experience compared to the big box home improvement stores. Please type of great help...I was asked twice by different people if I needed help. In addition to normal home improvement/repair items they had a huge supply of beach chairs, coolers, sunscreen, etc as well as a huge supply of fishing poles and gear. Definitely will head back here again for essentials at the beach. read more
