I'm still not sold on the SoulCycle business for a number of reasons. We rode together as a bachelorette so our bikes ended up being $20 each versus the normal $30. That's still very pricey for a studio that claims to offer a more premium and one-of-a-kind experience. We rode for an 8:30am Beyonce x Lemonade themed ride. It was packed! No celebrity sightings though. The room was way too hot and made me too sweaty although I do realize SoulCycle intentionally does this just to give you the impression that you've worked out extra hard. Deceiving, it's just water weight! I was also way too close to my neighbor and bumped her multiple times when doing wide pushups. The instructor was energetic, but definitely not challenging enough. Her choreo was basic and she had us riding at a super low resistance. During a typical SoulCycle class, they like to create a party-esque experience, so the sparklers and shark costumed worker did make an appearance. I thought it was corny as hell. I do like a dark cycling room, but there was an emergency exit door in the room and a ton of people exited mid-class to let in blinding sun light. Definitely off-putting. I think most of the people in our party had a good time since they have never experienced indoor cycling, let alone SoulCycle. There were good vibes after class, but again, I will not ignore the deficiencies of the SoulCycle brand. The studio is rather small just like the cycling room. There are lockers, two showers and two bathrooms, all unisex. As far as amenities offered, I think there were only sweat towels, but that's pretty standard to be honest.

I did not see a shower but I also did not ask. They had a clean bathroom. I did not see amenities like hair ties available. Once I got settled in my bike there were staff members coming in to support anyone who needed help. Someone came up to me to welcome me to the studio as it was my first time there and asked if there was anything they could do to help. I appreciate the attentiveness. The ride started and David had lots of energy and a great eclectic playlist. It was already about 100 degrees in Miami when I arrived to the studio and the sets being completed with David I felt I was working out outside. I had a great time. I recommended the studio and his classes to friends.

I've been to so many CycleBar classes since my first visit here, but this most one yesterday was…read morethe least motivating. The instructor (Dana, the schedule did say she was a sub for the class), sounded dehydrated and lacked energy in her instruction, though she fully rode and led a detailed workout. She sounded like she should have been narrating a Pilates classes instead. She kept calling out a girl in the class whose mother had taught her how to be an instructor for the entire class. How do I know about this girl's background? The instructor kept commenting on the girl and her mother and saying how she couldn't believe the girl was already in high school. I heard her say one other girl's name once, then she kept calling out to "the Jacksonville crew" in reference to a few riders who had dropped in from Jacksonville. The instructor also kept line dropping from the songs that were playing, as if she couldn't think of anything else to say at the moment. Like "Don't believe me, just watch" from "Uptown Funk". She was an older instructor, so it came off as her trying to be hip and relevant. Her arms sequence was a little hard but short, like she ran out of time and had to shorten it. The whole class was off putting. I felt completely excluded and unmotivated to have fun and put in a good effort. I had to channel my frustration into giving myself a hard workout. Thank goodness the front desk ladies are kind and helpful and already have shoes ready for your bike spot's cubby when you book a class ahead. They still are not giving out towels to use during the workout nor opening lockers to store belongings with the pandemic, so make sure to bring a towel and put your bag next to your bike. The workout is great for cardio exercise, so I'll return for another instructor who doesn't create such an esoteric atmosphere.

I also love that the staff is super friendly at check in, will help you with your bike, and the studio is immaculate. You can rent shoes at the studio so you have a more comfortable ride, and they provide you with a towel every time. Be prepared to sweat and ride out at your own pace and have a great time. You can park in the garage at Merrick park but my pro tip is to take a class before 9 am and park on the street because the meters don't run until 9 am. TY for giving me some fitness groove back, Soul Cycle!

I had been here a bunch of times in the past before the pandemic using ClassPass. The biggest draw…read moreof this gym is that workouts are circulations through 4 stations for a total of 40 minutes and start every 10 minutes. This means that, for example, if you are signed up for an 8:00 am slot but run late, no problem, you can join the 8:10 am or 8:20 am start. I went to this location a couple days ago for the first time since its reopening at the beginning of January 2021. They were on the first floor before, but they have signs saying they moved upstairs to the second floor in the same building. You do have to wear a mask during the workout at present. There was originally only enough space in each station for 4 people, so I imagine they would restrict more spots in each workout slot now. The reason they are able to have rotating stations at 10 minute intervals is that there are no instructors at each individual station, just one trainer in the overall workout area overseeing everyone. (During busier pre-pandemic times, there were two trainers sometimes.) The way you find out what movements to perform at each station is a monitor with videos of the movements and an interval timer that sounds sirens for the start and end of each 40 second exercise interval. You do have to be able to quickly grasp the movements shown before the next interval starts, but you have 3 rounds to get those movements right. The first station has a long turf that usually involves ropes or sled pushes, and the middle stations include sandbag movements and weight lifts. The last stations usually have a core movement like plank rollers or supine weight lifts. You are now expected to grab a cleaning towel and cleaning spray and wipe down the equipment you used at each station during the one minute break between stations. With this kind of structure, you're sure to get a great workout and stay busy during every second! I would advise taking some time after the last round to stretch because they do not include a cool down in the round. Bring a water bottle, a towel, your mask and get it done here!

Walking into a big chain gym after V3 is like downgrading from a gourmet steakhouse to a gas station hot dog. The trainers? Absolute legends. They don't just know your name--they know when you're slacking, when you're sandbagging, and when you need that extra push that makes you question all your life choices (in a good way). They tailor every workout so it fits your body and your goals--then they make modifications that somehow still leave you sore in muscles you didn't even know existed. It's like personal training meets bootcamp meets therapy session. The equipment? Spotless, sturdy, and actually works (which is more than I can say for half the treadmills I've met in my life). Attention to detail is everywhere--weights racked neatly, space laid out so you're not dodging some guy curling in the squat rack, and bathrooms so clean you'd trust them for a protein shake taste test. The vibe is where V3 really flexes. This isn't some soulless chain where you're just another membership number. It's a small, locally owned business with heart. The people are friendly, the energy is contagious, and somehow you leave drenched in sweat but also weirdly happy about it. If I hadn't moved away, I'd still be here every week--grunting, sweating, and pretending I didn't almost cry during burpees. V3Perform isn't just a workout, it's a lifestyle upgrade... and a reminder that yes, you can survive one more rep.
