Then fitness friends of mine talked about "Secret Cycling", and the "conspiracy" came together! Since I'm trying to get in shape for a certain milestone birthday - and by virtue of my work schedule and enjoying for good food find it hard to stick to clean eating - I need a high intensity workout. Secret Cycling provides it! The studio is located in the upstairs office area of a warehouse / self storage place. Decorated with motivational phrases on the wall, industrial metal joist roof and a nightclub-quality sound system, I started to sweat within the first 10 minutes of my class. The soundtrack - heavy on 80's freestyle - gets me through a grueling hour of seat jumps, 4+ gears and long drives on their LeMond spinning cycles. I've gone with two different instructors, and in their own style, both are awesome. Christy gives the class a funky, Hialeah girl happy energy, even throwing out a couple of "Dalee" and mixing in Salsa and Latin Funk. Bob (Saturday mornings) is heavier on the motivational quotes and a Yoda-like wisdom to the class (though in proper English). Classes are $5 per individual class. Awesome because you have the option of paying only for the classes you take instead of those long gym contracts where you subsidize chain gyms. However, there's also the option of paying for the month. The only reason I'm knocking off half a star is because I wish they had some later (even 7pm) classes. In any case, I'm on my second class and I love it!

Bob (the Lance Armstrong of Secret) has done a wonderful job with this place. I can almost guarantee you've never had a spinning class like this one! The bikes they use are Lemond Revmasters - my favorite! First timers: 1. Visit their website and reserve a bike. 2. When you walk in there will be a counter to your right with a binder. Look for the page with a list of names for the class you are taking. Once you find your name, grab the numbers hanging below the counter that corresponds with the one next to your name and go upstairs. 3. Pick a bike and hang your number on the front of your bike. (Look around if you don't know what I'm talking about) 4. Arrive early and let the Instructor know that it's your first time. That way you can get measured and know exactly how to adjust your bike. 3. Bring $4 for the class. That includes a towel that you will find on your bike when you arrive. 4. If you didn't bring water, there's a fridge downstairs packed with refreshments. 5. Prepare to sweat!

The hostess was incredibly sweet, waving the $4 cleats fee as it was technically my first class and I was unaware. Making my way to their locker room, they were decorated for Valentine's Day. I thought it was a sweet touch. The rooms, including the bathrooms, were very clean and smelled nice. Bathrooms were equipped with all the essentials, including feminine products, which I appreciated. My instructor was Dariann. Super sweet and high energy. She was engaging and motivating, keeping everyone in good spirits during the class. I enjoyed the song choices and the over all energy of the class. At the end of the session, the hostess was waiting at the door with cold towels. After an intense workout, those really were welcomed! :-D Looking forward to my next class.

When you walk into the gym, everyone is hard at work, and it's such a motivating environment. I decided to come here after debating whether or not I wanted to compete in a Bikini competition and finally deciding to take the leap. After working out on my own for so many years, I decided it was time to really challenge myself and accomplish this goal. My trainer Christine was amazing in accommodating my schedule, and even competes herself! Loleta also provides meal and plans which are proven to work. What I love the most is the safe environment this gym provides. Being a young woman, it can be intimidating going to a gym by yourself at first, but everyone here treats you like family. As a result, I received unsolicited, unwanted attention from other members including requests for social media appearances. As an older member, her disclosure also caused me to feel singled out and scrutinized during my workouts. In a separate incident, the owner also resorted to Instagram after I was assisted by other members attempting to correct my form on an exercise I had just learned. She told her Instagram followers that I had a casual conversation with them, which she knew was not true because I had already explained to her what ACTUALLY happened. Nevertheless, she proceeded to ask her followers for "their thoughts", knowing exactly what those thoughts would be. This led to an attack on social media about my IQ and judgement. The owner's disclosure of my age without my consent, and her precipitating an attack on social media against me was extremely unprofessional.

I did not see a shower but I also did not ask. They had a clean bathroom. I did not see amenities like hair ties available. Once I got settled in my bike there were staff members coming in to support anyone who needed help. Someone came up to me to welcome me to the studio as it was my first time there and asked if there was anything they could do to help. I appreciate the attentiveness. The ride started and David had lots of energy and a great eclectic playlist. It was already about 100 degrees in Miami when I arrived to the studio and the sets being completed with David I felt I was working out outside. I had a great time. I recommended the studio and his classes to friends.

The instructor (Dana, the schedule did say she was a sub for the class), sounded dehydrated and lacked energy in her instruction, though she fully rode and led a detailed workout. She sounded like she should have been narrating a Pilates classes instead. She kept calling out a girl in the class whose mother had taught her how to be an instructor for the entire class. How do I know about this girl's background? The instructor kept commenting on the girl and her mother and saying how she couldn't believe the girl was already in high school. I heard her say one other girl's name once, then she kept calling out to "the Jacksonville crew" in reference to a few riders who had dropped in from Jacksonville. The instructor also kept line dropping from the songs that were playing, as if she couldn't think of anything else to say at the moment. Like "Don't believe me, just watch" from "Uptown Funk". She was an older instructor, so it came off as her trying to be hip and relevant. Her arms sequence was a little hard but short, like she ran out of time and had to shorten it. The whole class was off putting. I felt completely excluded and unmotivated to have fun and put in a good effort. I had to channel my frustration into giving myself a hard workout. Thank goodness the front desk ladies are kind and helpful and already have shoes ready for your bike spot's cubby when you book a class ahead. They still are not giving out towels to use during the workout nor opening lockers to store belongings with the pandemic, so make sure to bring a towel and put your bag next to your bike. The workout is great for cardio exercise, so I'll return for another instructor who doesn't create such an esoteric atmosphere.
