When I questioned them about it they said their analyzer was broken but they were certain the tanks were filled properly with 32%. I felt very comfortable that he gave us the training we needed to dive competently and safely. I bought some gear in advance of the course and discovered that the on-line research, no matter how exhaustive, is not a replacement for actually trying out the gear. Masks I bought for one of my sons & I were uncomfortable. The staff at Grove Scuba helped us find replacements that we're really pleased with. Our experience was very satisfying and we will be back!

We were on a bit of a time constraint to get certified and Rob worked with us to get it done as quickly and efficiently as possible. Dock location was easy to find, and you can pay for parking using an app at a nearby location. There are restrooms at nearby businesses to change, which the crew will point out. Those bathrooms were okay, but not well maintained and not connected to this business. They also DBA as Tarpoon Lagoon Diving Center. You need to bring the main things, gear or rent, food, drink, sunscreen, tip for crew. Crew was extremely great and knowledgeable. Nice boat and well equipped to take out for snorkeling, felt like the middle of nowhere, but once in the water you could see a lot underneath. It is not great for those who stay on top because you look down from 13-15' of water so things are down a bit and you will have to dive to get a closer look. Crew let us stay out the whole time even though most of the other passengers gave up after a brief swim. I went on a different trip into Biscayne National Park where the water was 3-8' and I saw much more. I felt like the bottom of the water at this location was too deep to enjoy as much and was disturbed with less life. Overall a GOOD trip with experienced crew and a great time.

I had been told that Ted Harty with Immersion Freediving was the go to guy if I was ever interested…read morein learning how to dive, but not being a diver (and I mean never diving) or a "professional" snorkeler (seriously only twice in my life) I never thought I would ever need a freediving instructor. Needless to say, when I was presented with the "opportunity" (please notice the punctuation) to take a private class it only made sense to take it from Ted, and now I truly understand how exceptional Ted truly is at teaching. Not only was the coursework extremely educational but Ted made it entertaining with personal stories, personal experiences and hands on training. Never would I have thought that the coursework would leave me wanting more and more knowledge about diving, how the body works and my number one priority how to dive safe and how to be a safe diving partner. Like I said above, I was not a diver at the beginning of this class, but Ted has so much patience (talking me through a panic attack just to even get my face in the water), he explained what he wanted me to do step by step and then would demonstrate it, by far the easiest way to learn. Ted never pushes you, it's on your schedule, your comfort level and when you're ready Ted is always right there with you. Ted gave me such confidence in myself and abilities that there are lessons I learned during this Immersion Freediving course that I will apply to my "above water life". I may not be the deepest diver, have the best, or any technique and still have a lot of learning to do, but Ted turned me into a freediver and now I am hooked. I can't wait to continue my diving education, increasing my depths, improving my technique and I guarantee I will be doing this only with Immersion Freediving and Mr. Ted Harty, no one else compares and I now understand why he is the best and will be my only recommendation to anyone wanting to learn to dive. Thank you Ted for truly being excited for what I accomplished over the course of five days, you made me feel awesome about myself and for opening up a whole new world to me. Your enthusiasm and passion for what you do is contagious and I look forward to working with you again. I recently completed the November 2012 Intermediate Freediving course with Ted Harty at Immersion…read moreFreediving in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Previous to taking this course, I was diving 35-40ft depths comfortably and could do a 2 minute static breathhold. Since taking this course with Ted, I was able to complete an 85ft dive and 4'25'' static breathhold in the pool. Simply amazing! I never realized how important equalization was at these depths and Ted has a skype session with every student before the class starts. The class size is limited to only 5 students, which is a big reason I took this course over other courses offered. Ted is a terrific instructor and was always focused on everyones individual needs, providing that "one on one" attention. The classroom sessions focused on safety, techniques and physiology. Safety was also a part of every ocean session and I learned a great deal. I was not a safe diver prior to taking this course, but now have the knowledge to easily adjust my diving style. We had a lot of dive time in the ocean and even more fun! Ted's dive boat "Sink Faze" was very nice and comfortable and much better than dealing with a big charter dive boat. Squalo is a great dive shop! I had seen their social media posts and decided to try them out for a…read morediving class. After looking at the website, calling the shop, and exchanging some emails with Cristina (who is very helpful, by the way!) I was set up for a PADI Deep Diver class. I went to the shop on the first day for a gear check. Sebastian (my instructor) had me set up my gear and went over it to make sure everything was in good working order. Everything checked out and we started going over the dives and skills that we needed to cover for the class. All good, and off to the dive boat for the first day of dives. This was a one-on-one class, so I had plenty of time to talk about the course material and other PADI specialties with Sebastian. He was very patient, knowledgeable, and thorough in answering my questions. It was a great first day of dives. Day # 2, Alejandro was my instructor. Another great set of dives. Alejandro had an AOW class going so I tagged along with them to finish the performance requirements for the Deep Dive. At first, I thought he would be more focused on the AOW students, but that wasn't the case at all. Instead, Alejandro made a point to go over the last two dives' objectives and even helped me with some in-water posture performance. I was really happy with the service, experience, and instruction from the team at Squalo! I recommend them if you're in the Miami area!
