I usually don't leave reviews but I feel it's important to share the experience I had with this company. I read a few other reviews regarding the ethics (or lack of) for this company and I feel people should be think twice or at least be careful when dealing with Sossi Formals. I rented a set of suits for a wedding. It costs $20.00 deposit per suit and I paid the deposit for five suits ($100). I told my friends that I already helped them make the deposit so make sure Sossi formals doesn't make you pay any deposit money. As expected, when my friends went, Sossi formals asked each of my friends again to make an additional deposit of $20.00 even though they KNEW I already made a $100.00 deposit for all my friends. I forgot to tell one of my friends and he ended up paying another $20.00 when Sossi Formals asked him to. Even though it was just $20.00, I felt their actions were unethical so I called them to inquire about this. I asked them to return the extra deposit but the man working there was very rude and refused to return until after we rented the suits and returned all the suits (there was about three weeks left until the wedding and I didn't have time to find another suit rental and I already made a 'deposit' so I didn't want my money to go to waste). Not only did he say he wouldn't return the extra money we paid, he was extremely unprofessional and was literally screaming at me when I said I would like to have the extra deposit money returned to me now. He hung up on the phone before I even finished talking. Regarding the quality of suits, I think they were pretty good honestly. However, the fit of one of my groomsmen was off so he had a pretty baggy suit so make sure you try the suits on before leaving the store. Even though the quality was decent, they were no where near the astronomical price tag that I received when I received the suit. I ended up paying a little over $1000. Read below to see "why." Since I was the groom, I asked Sossi to rent one very good suit for myself and that the other four groomsmen suit could be of lesser quality for a cheaper price. I did some research and later learned that the person there actually gave me and my groomsmen the second most expensive suit in the store and added all the supposed upgrades that we didn't ask for or didn't know about. Also, they have a deal (rent five suits, get one free) that they did not tell me about and only agreed to after I brought it up. I ended up renting six suits. However, for the final bill, I still had to pay an extra $20 because "free" actually meant paying the difference between the most expensive suit and the least expensive suit. Weddings are very precious moments and people are willing to spend big bucks on it. But I don't like how they take advantage of this to exploit people's money. read more

Got numerous suits from Sossi over the years starting way back junior high. Very helpful staff and was always a pleasure to shop there.

I ordered tuxes for my now husband and his groomsmen before out weddinf. They did an amazing job. All the tuxes looked great. They work with you to make sure you get what you want and are so friendly. Will definitely be back for any time we need to rent a tux again read more

I had a very unpleasant experience at Sossi Formals in Middletown, NY. Prior to this incident, my fiancé had visited this store and spoke to a very nice lady who assured him this company would beat the competitors. We were super excited to use Sossi. We went in last weekend together to look at the options and choose a suit for the groomsmen for our upcoming wedding. We were greeted by a young lady who quickly became distracted by a friend who came to visit her at the store. We didn't mind because we had an idea of what we wanted so we didn't require much help but there was definitely a lack of customer service on her part. After deciding which suit for the groomsmen, for the groom, vests, bow ties and shoes we were ready to start our order and put a deposit down. Our total for each groomsmen's rental came out to $150 per groomsmen for suit, shirt, vest, bowtie and shoes. We were so excited because we felt we got a good deal. We left a $20 deposit and a signed receipt with the details of all the groomsmen, ring bearer, fathers etc. so that they can begin to come in and have their measurements taken. Fast forward 4 days later and my fiancé receives a voicemail from the young lady who was at the store the day we went saying that she made a huge mistake. She gave us the wrong price and the rentals would actually be $195 per person. I called the store and spoke to Shaunt who advised that she made a mistake and they would not be able to honor that price. Instead he can honor $172. I am completely frustrated with this store because after signing and leaving the deposit I am still not being honored the price which was agreed upon initially. Needless to say I cancelled my order and am now on the search for a company that will work with us in such short amount of time. read more

When we first walked into Sossi Formals we were welcomed and treated like family (not like a number on a factory line like we were at Men's Warehouse). Shaunt and Sossi gave us such wonderful service at a much more reasonable price then we would have payed elsewhere. My husband is a very picky dresser and also a slim guy. When we couldn't find a tux that fit him well at other stores, Sossi delivered! He wound up purchasing the tuxedo and getting custom alterations. He looked so amazing on our wedding day! When we did our first look and I walked across the bridge at Catlin Gardens my heart stopped at how gorgeous he was! It was truly a perfect day and everyone in our wedding party, small to tall, little to large, looked truly fantastic! It was great service at a great price! We will always go to Sossi Formals for any future tuxedo or suit needs! read more

My son and I ordered a tuxedo for his prom. The girl that helped us was very nice, although thinking back maybe she didn't give us the time we deserved. When we went to pick up the tuxedo the day before the prom, we arrived early to avoid the rush. Thank goodness because there were problems from the get go. The young man who was helping my son finally came to tell me that the zipper was broken and they were working on a new pair of pants. I was wondering what was happening since we were the first ones there and 3 or 4 boys came and went while I was still waiting to see him dressed. Once he was finally dressed, I was concerned about the length of the pants as well as the length of the shirt sleeve...they told me they could change the shirt but the pants were fine. they were not fine - one leg was shorter than the other and I kept pulling his pants down so they wouldn't look short. After another delay, he came back out but the shirt sleeve still wasn't right. I know this because the bunch of boys that finished before us had their sleeves at the right length according to the store person but my son's was not showing below the jacket sleeve like the others...so which was right ?? We were asked about the handkerchief because we didn't decide when we ordered, and decided to take it. However the biggest problem came when we went to pay and found out that not only was the handkerchief $14 !! but the woman changed the price on my receipt. She said the girl who took the order gave us too much discount and charged me an additional $15 plus the $14 handkerchief...isn't that illegal to change the written price and charge extra ?? well the woman was not very friendly and just kept saying she could give me back the $14 - I explained that no one told us the handkerchief was gonna be that expensive when they asked if we wanted it...plus it wasn't our mistake with the original price - it was her worker !! This woman said she was the owner - that explains why she thought she could talk to customers that way. we couldn't wait any longer - we had been there almost an hour and half and we had an awards dinner that night. Because the prom was the next day, we didn't have much choice but to pay her even though she changed the price and we weren't happy with the tux. Don't bother going there - go to a real tailor if it's an important event - we learned our lesson !! read more
