The poor old thing (the secretary) was really showing her age with years of touching up, damage and oxidation. She was long overdue for a rehaul. I found AAA on Yelp and texted Keith. His response was quick and honest and he was willing to take the job on at a very reasonable cost, and referred me to Stan. Stan was also quick to respond and we arranged a time for pick up and an ETA. Stan contacted us anytime he had a question about something and sent pics of her in progress. After about 2 to 3 weeks, he was ready to bring her back and we were extremely flabbergasted at how gorgeous she had turned out. When you have a piece of furniture so long and it looks so worn, it's hard to imagine what it could look like beautified. I am attaching before and after pics to show what wonderful work they did, which included completely stripping her, which Stan said was VERY labor-intensive. She was covered in old varnish and old polish. I digress. Here are the pics, and a very high recommendation for AAA.

However it turned out even uglier in my opinion. He said if you looked at it from straight on it would not be noticeable, which is true, but from other angles it is a glaring eyesore. He did not tell me it would be beautiful only from one angle and I am very disappointed. So frankly I would not hire him for a repair. This is a reply to your offer. Thank you for your offer to redo the work, but when I expressed concerns after your initial repair, that would have been the time to discuss alternative approaches. At the time you left me with that was just the way it was because of the way light is refracted. I tried to ignore it but it leaps out at you every time you walk by. It is much worse than it was before and 4 times larger. I hired another company to come out and see what they could do. Although their repair still isn't perfect, it is significantly less noticeable. At this point, I don't feel confident that another attempt would achieve the results I would like.

Great service and workmanship, price, and much more... My 2003 Acura CL needed a complete paint job, and the headlights had to be replaced. When I got my car back from SOS Upholstery, it was as though I'd just bought a new Acura from the dealership. The finish job was positively flawless, and there was nothing amiss. The headlights were precisely aligned to specs (difficult on these cars). But there's more. They totally detailed my car's interior at no extra charge. That was beyond expectations. They had also fixed the damage to my bumpers, at no cost beyond the original estimate. Thank you very much SOS! They had previously done a great job on my car's tune-up. The mechanic was just perfect. They replaced the timing- belt and water pump, and did the front brakes, and, definitely, saved me a lot of money. Not that one would wish to be one, but they have made a permanent customer out of me! They are a one-stop auto repair shop. I've also seen their impressive upholstery work. They're such a great deal, I've recommended them to family and friends. This is a family-owned business. Everyone is so pleasant, and helpful. And you get the feeling that they are candid and honest about the work needed to be done, and that they will do the best for you within budget. While at their shop, I'd also noticed two other cars before and after. A black Honda Civic with extensive paint damage; and a white Accord that was probably totaled because the whole front was gone. When I saw them after they were repaired, (and I was really checking them out), I was amazed at the transformation. Impeccable body and paint job. You couldn't tell that these cars had just had extensive body work, and been repainted. I happened to see the owner of the Civic, and he was one happy customer, just like me. While My husband was on deployment I really wanted to surprise him and get his interior customized on his 2003 C320. ( yes I let my husband spend money on his car ) I ripped a page out of a magazine he had been saving for a couple years for an interior scheme took it to 5 shops to get a rough quote . A shop in Escondido said "well mam its a Mercedes" and charged what i though was an outrageous price . A shop in vista gave me a way better estimate but I was afraid to leave my vehicle with the man who could barley speak any English not to mention the shop looked like a dump. after a couple more expensive quotes, I found SOS Upholstery/ Customz.. I'm so glad I did too...because they also do furniture lol.... Well anyways I was greeted by a very enthusiastic lady who gave me a good priced but what i liked about this shop is a couple of young enthusiast help make my design a little different from the magazine but I loved it. we came up the a black and gray leather / suede combo which i thought looked stunning. My husband came home saw his car and literally shed a tear he was so surprised ... I took my wife's car to this establishment about a year ago and received a quote for far cheaper than most competitors in the area. Me and my wife passed by the establishment and noticed the sign and decided to stop by for just some questions. We parked a couple of blocks down the road at a store to walk down to the shop and ask questions about upholstery to my wifes vehicle. I instantly wanted to give my business due to the way we were treated by these people. The Head guy left his building and walked us to our car, which was a couple of blocks down from the shop to take a look at our vehicle and give us a quote. The quote was fairly low and in my price range. We decided not to do the work at the time but returned a year later and received a lower quote. The customer service at this place is awesome and I say this because I had a leather hole in my QX56 interiror passenger seat. I just decided to drop in for them to take a look and give a quote and one of the guys started repairing the seat with no questions ask. I ask how much did I owe him and he just waived his hand as if I didn't owe anything. I gave him a decent tip for the repair anyway but I have had nothing but good customer service from this place! read more

I had an incredibly disappointing experience with SOS Upholstery. Initially, everything seemed promising--Sandra, the owner, provided a preliminary calculation that was reasonable and within my budget. However, when I went to pick up my upholstered items, I was shocked to find that the final price had doubled. Sandra explained that it had taken a lot more time than expected, but this felt like a blatant deception. There was no communication during the process about any potential increase in cost, leaving me blindsided by the final bill. This kind of practice is completely unacceptable and lacks transparency. It's clear that SOS Upholstery does not prioritize honesty or customer satisfaction. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for reliable and fair service. Save yourself the frustration and find a more trustworthy upholsterer. read more

REALLY BAD BODY JOB!!! Spent $4,500 for a horrible job of body work and paint on my 91 chevy pickup truck. Asked them to do minor body work and remove waves from both sides of the bed. when I got it back the truck still had all the waves and dents on both sides of the truck after I specifically told them that was the main reason for doing all the work and new paint. Then they had the nerve to ask for more money to fix it how we orginally agreed on. IT WAS RAINING AND I COULD NOT SEE THE BODY WAVES AND DENTS TILL I LEFT AND GOT HOME. SINCE THEN I TOOK THE TRUCK TO ANOTHER SHOP THAT AGREED IT WAS A REAL BAD JOB. A friend recommended SOS to me. I started with having new seats and backs made for my 4-director chairs. The job was excellent. Next I brought my '98 Volvo V70 in and got the front leather seats recovered and the bumpers removed and repainted. The plan was to sell the Volvo, but it looked so good, I've kept it. Clearly by this time I feel comfortable with SOS and I brought in my 2001 Volvo XC. I got parking dings and dents removed and the moon roof panel fixed and recovered. Nice work! I also brought in the 2010 Prius and got a rip in the armrest (my fault) repaired. I like the people and the work. The pricing is also good, but the reason I go is that I can trust the work to be good and enjoy the interaction with the owners. Sorry to hear the VW owner had a bad experience. I've recommended SOS to friends and will continue to do so. read more

I have a vintage dining room table along with the matching chairs. Over the years, the varnished had deteriorated and the seats were reupholstered several times. When my mother died, I was tempted to give it a way but I decided to have it restored and to have the chairs re-upholstered. The table was constructed very well and is very solid. I tried to re-stain and re-varnish the table and chairs myself, but it turned out disastrous! So, I surfed around the net and I found SOS Upholstery in Oceanside, CA. They were every enthusiastic about my project. They had lots of fabric options and they provided a wonderful pick-up service. When they finished, the end result was beautiful!! I'm back after my 4 star review for them on our favorite living room chair around the first of the month (why don't I see that one here...hmmmm.). Took our six seat pads from our Thomasville dining room set in for recovering. They pointed out some appropriate traditional fabric selections a we picked a beautiful burgundy w/ gold strip material. Work was done almost over the weekend and they are stunning! Really makes our set pop! All sewing and piping done to perfection and striped pattern straight as an arrow. I can't praise SOS enough. The completely restored my 81 corvette and it looked so amazing when it was done, it took my breathe away. Special thank you to Oscar, he is truly professional and I felt as a consumer I could trust his word and his product. I am a bit suspicious at these bad reviews, maybe from a rival or something.. I must admit I am a little surprised at the workmanship. I was not sure what to expect when I was given a price to reupholster my antique dinning chairs. I had shopped around and they gave me the estimate for materials and labor I was pleased with the price. When I picked up my chairs yesterday I took the time to make sure the work was done the right way. To my delight all six of them look as I had just purchased them new from the store. SOS is the best! Can't say enough about Sandra and the crew at SOS. I had a chair and ottoman redone at SOS and it turned better than I could have imagined. Not only did the chair and ottoman turn out beautifully but Sandra went above and beyond to make sure our furniture was delivered in a timely fashion. The shop was going to be closed for a long weekend and my chair was finished and Sandra wanted me to have it so she delivered the chair after hours and worked around my schedule. Who does that?!? Sandra and her crew did an outstanding job on my motorhome. On budget and on time. The motor home is a high-end unit with what turned out to be less than high-end fabric on the captain chairs and sofas. They came to me and took out the sofa and captain chairs. One sofa was to large too get out the door so they did that in the motorhome. They even restructured one sofa so I can get access to electronics that I did not know existed. Again, an awesome job. Just had My 05 330ci Convertible replaced By SOS Upholstery some A**hole slashed my top My Insurance suggested SOS Upholstery I took the car to them, they told me to bring it in early the next day around 8:30 I got there around 9. They took me home had a call that same day that it was done...When I got there I checked to make sure that everything worked and it did they even vacuumed my messy car lol. We had SOS Upholstery make a cover for our boat that is 21 ft. with a tower. It was a large job and they did a great job! The cover was totally made customized by them, with a better material than canvas. It is so durable and will defiantly withstand the elements. Our boat cover is amazing and beautiful! Years ago my husband had Old Town rebuild the bench seat in our '67 C10 barn find. The original…read moreseat was in such bad shape my hubby drove it sitting on an old milk crate. They recommended adding cup holders in the back of the center seat, which I now use to keep a fire extinguisher at the ready. Someday we will put drinks in there, haha. But since we were so happy with that work, when it was time to repair our mustang, we new exactly where to take it. The leather was coming apart in one seat, and the headliner had been pulled down by my grandson over the last few years. Personally, I was impressed by how well the new seat matches the existing seat. At first I thought they had replaced both seats. And the headliner is immaculate. Side note, no more grandchildren in this car! They can go in Grandpa's car! If you have an old clunker or a luxury vehicle, I would absolutely trust Old Town to fix or replace your upholstery.

Not only was Fred the most friendly person over the phone he also had the best rate. Not to mention they have the best reviews on Yelp. With that said, we scheduled an appointment with Fred to remove and replace my cars headliner. I have a VW hatchback car. He was hassle free when it comes to the labor & cost... Their work is impeccable, with fast turnaround and great customer service. Two years ago they totally transformed my living room furniture, and the year before that my family room furniture. New fabric, new stuffing, different feet - my furniture came back BETTER than new! When I've used them at my business I need super fast service. I drop off the cushions in the morning and get them back the same day. They realize how important speed is for me, and go out of their way to help me out, still delivering the same quality finished product. Not sure why another reviewer referred to their location as "shady" - they are behind some shops on Escondido Blvd, in a row of garages. A little messy, but not scary, not threatening, and certainly not shady. This is an upholstery shop in Escondido, not Nordstrom at the mall. They have a ton of upholstery fabric books to look through, and there are usually some finished pieces sitting around so you can get a look at their work. The best compliment I can give these guys is to say that I would recommended them without any reservation whatsoever.
