I just took a 50 mile drive to UFO; a place I have been to many times. I was told they are not accepting any new pieces and that they would not recommend their measurements to purchase the fabric needed to reupholster a wing chair. I guess business is so good, they don't need my business! As a long time customer I am shocked with this attitude. So the purchase of the fabric and the reupholstery job will go to someone else. Great supply of fabric. Workers are very helpful in giving us swatches and measuring for cushions

Drove from Temecula. One other customer in the store. Tried to buy foam and gave dimensions. Agreed on density, thickness, number of cushions. Five minutes later, we were asked to pay and we were given two huge chunks of foam. We asked why it couldn't be cut into the size of the cushions and he said it's a 2-3 week wait. It would have taken five minutes to make five additional cuts with the same saw he was already using. He said they were too busy, even though we were now the only customers in the store. Drove to A1 in Santa Ana, and had the foam within 20 minutes, on a Saturday, one hour before the closed. What an absolute joke and a ridiculous policy. The guy argued instead of just cutting the foam into smaller pieces. read more

I personally love this outlet center because it's a great way to find alternative leathers and materials. I've noticed Joannes has very basic fabrics, and even though this is traditionally meant for Upholstery and furniture, I've made some really cute leather totes out of the materials and the price is way cheaper than Joannes. read more

This place is so great for quick home projects. Our banquet seat tore and I found a really great fabric, new foam, and upholstery buttons. I contemplated asking them to reupholster (since their work is impecable) but there was a waiting list 4 months long. All and all great place to shop a huge variety of fabrics. read more

This is a very large, bare bones fabric warehouse outlet. The onsite inventory is extensive, and fabric can also be ordered based on sample books. Staff is very helpful. Prices are reasonable. In addition to selling fabric, UFO offers fabrication service --i.e., UFO makes curtains, seat cushions, pillows, and other items ... but not patio umbrella canopies. Currently, the foam used for seat cushions is on backorder which affects delivery times for finished products. read more

Friendly service. It's rather expensive but doing your own upholstery isn't very common these days. You can find sale bolts, if your project is small, for $12 a yard. I got a single medium grade seat cushion for a chair, wrapped in batting for just over $50, which isn't cheap. They do upholstery too but unless the pieces are sentimental or valuable, you but new decent quality at a furniture store for the same price. The store is clean with a large selection. We went in looking to have patio furniture cushions replaced. Quickly found a fabric and asked for an estimate (we had old cushions with us so exact measurements could be made) We were given options on foam, density, etc. After the calculations were made, the price took our breath away a little bit but we decided to go ahead with the project. Buying all new furniture was the only other option and wve more expensive. Today I picked up the finished cushions and I am beyond happy. The attention to detail is outstanding. The striped fabric is matched on each cushion, from one cushion to another, from top to bottom and all the way around. This is only achieved through skilled workmanship and pride in a job well done. This place used to be a great place to get fabric etc... but lately the staff is just less than helpful. I have tried calling several times to find out if they carried what I needed only to be told no, when in fact yes they do carry have plenty in stock. So I made the trip only to be ignored, made to feel like I was bothering the girl behind the counter... guess she was busy cleaning....I can see where that is more important than a paying customer. We are lucky to have this place here in North County. So many fabrics and types it will make your head spin. Prices are good and there's personalized service. I made my own seat cushions for a window seat and they cut the foam cushion. They also do full-on upholstery here. The guys here are friendly, knowledgable and really helpful. So I guess I was pulled in by all the great reviews of this place, as well as the word "Outlet" in the title ....... I went in with the measurements, and photos of a couch I wanted new slipcovers for. I spoke with a guy at the front who was hardly helpful, and he told me to go pick out some fabric I liked and he could give me a ballpark estimate based on the photos and measurements, which I did. He quoted me between $800.- $1,100.00 to do the new slip covers, so I went home and a few days later loaded up the couch into my truck and took it over, only to then be quoted a MINIMUM of $1,800.00 for the labor only!!!!! Are you kidding me??? I think they thought they had me anyway, so why not charge a fortune? I ended up leaving, and am still looking for another place to take my couch. They are ANYTHING BUT an outlet!!! read more

My husband and I bought a couch about a year and a half ago from MOR furniture and it was AWFUL! they kept having to replace the cushions because they were so terrible. Anyway, we eventually decided to just go ahead and buy new cushions because we have family coming for christmas etc. We came to UFO at the recommendation of a friend and were very pleased. It wasn't as cheap as some of the other quotes I got, but Holger and the team there knew what they were doing! And as we have discovered with furniture, you get what you pay for! I ordered the foam, they had is done by the end of the week! I took my old cushions in, and within 40 minutes the new cushions were cut to shape and in the covers! I'm writing this as I very happily sit on our new couch cushions! read more

I have a beautiful couch but the seat cushions had flattened to wafer size. Young man at the desk, Demetrius Shelby, greeted us and took us to the back. They cut the cushions to fit, put them in the covers, all in less than twenty minutes. Looks and feels like a new couch. I'm very pleased. read more

This isn't the most "happening" of fabric stores and the prices are OK, but I was able to find a nifty material to make a couple of pillow covers out of. I found the material on the discount table which made the price a lil better. I left with two yards for a lil over $20. The man who helped us and cut my material was nice. If you need foam - just about any type of foam, in blanks, cut to size, or custom shaped to order - this is your place. Just don't expect it to be cheap (though that's not necessarily their fault. Foam is made from petro chemicals, just like gas is - and we all know what we're paying at the pump these days.) They also have a huge selection of fabrics, though I've never needed any so can't comment about the price or quality. Customer service is, well, I guess I would call it interesting. You'll walk in and will have no idea who is an employee and who is a customer. I've been there several times, and have seen people behind the front counter only when a transaction is being rung up. The staff is friendly enough once you get them going - but at first, they seem almost taken aback by your presence. After that initial hesitation, though, they are very helpful - they'll steer you to the best product for your needs, and will try to keep the cost down for you by being honest about the various levels of quality - and which level will do the job for you. I hesitated between giving them three stars or four - in truth, a 3.5 would be about right. read more

I went in to get fabric to re-upholster my daughter's DR chairs. I had intended to buy some faux leather for ease of cleaning. Luckily, the young man who assisted me inquired what I was using it for. He politely asked me if I had ever reupholstered with faux leather before, and explained that it takes really strong hands & suggested cutting each piece & draping it on a towel on the hood of a car in the sun to make it more pliable. It all sounded so daunting that I opted instead for some regular fabric that was absolutely gorgeous. I thought I needed 4 yards & he asked me how many chairs I was doing & told me 3 yds was plenty. He was absolutely correct! They came out gorgeous!!! He saved me time, frustration, and money! Not only that but he was the most patient, friendly, helpful sales person that I have ever encountered. I recommend UFO to everyone! This wasn't my first time here and every time I have had similar experiences with customer service! What was not so nice was they promised to do something with the wooden seats but didn't and it was only when I picked them up I found out. Not a nice surprise.
