Luna Sea Lounge - Angostura orange bitters on the bar: Bar setup within arm's reach

Finally had a chance to check out Luna Sea lounge last week. Location is perfect ... right around…read morethe corner from Walnut Creek BART but also plenty of street parking. The place was crowded but could still get a table. I got the "Syndicate" ... great blend of sweet and spicy. I planned on trying something else but it was so good I went back to it again. Highly recommend.

Cool bar hiding in plain sight on Pringle. From the sidewalk you would swear they were closed, and…read morethen the door opens and you are somewhere else entirely. Blue neon arches, a huge underwater mural, plush chairs and low tables along the back wall. Worth the detour. Chris was working the bar on his second day and greeted us like a regular. I skipped my usual Manhattan and went with the Smoke Break, bourbon with bitters, smoke and black cherry. He nailed it. That is the one I would order again. Kudos to Chris for making the smoke linger and make the drink taste fantastic. I had this one in Oregon and it was cool but Chris did a better job with his method that really did serious justice to the name. My wife wanted the Cucumber Cooler, but they were out of cucumber. She pivoted to Sauvignon Blanc, and they were out of that too. The wine list runs four whites and four reds, so there is not much room to maneuver if the cocktails are not your thing. Chris read the situation, offered up a Paper Airplane since she wanted something refreshing, and put it on the house. Classic good bartending. It was louder than expected for how few people were in the room. On a Saturday with a DJ, music and dancing, I would guess the volume gets close to a rave. Go Tuesday or Wednesday if you want to hear the person across from you, and you will probably catch them fully stocked. My guess is weekends clean them out. Cocktails run 16 to 18 dollars. There is also a 300 dollar tequila and cognac number called La Maria served in a glass rimmed with gold dust, if you have something to celebrate. Happy hour is Tuesday through Friday, 3 to 5. They are on the ground floor of the Waymark apartments at 121 Pringle Ave with a small patio out front and heaters. Great spot to hang out and talk with friends, and a good pre dinner or post dinner stop rather than a destination for the whole night. When those doors shut you are transported somewhere neat. I would go again.

We loved Sipeos so much that we came back again the very next day! This time we had the chance to…read moremeet the owner, who was incredibly kind and took the time to tell us about how Sipeos came to be and the inclusive environment they're trying to create. I really love the thought behind their menu. There's such a diverse selection for both vegans and non-vegans, as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, so everyone can come together and actually have plenty of options. We ordered some of the same food we loved the first time and also tried the pizza this time. Once again, everything was amazing! And having vegan desserts to choose from just makes it even better. Great food, great atmosphere, and after getting to know a little more about the people and idea behind Sipeos, we appreciate this place even more. We'll definitely be back!

Of all places, I'm surprised the Bay Area doesn't have waaaaaay more plant-based dining, and I welcome any suggestions from my fellow Yelpers on spots I may have missed! So when I learned of Sipeos, featuring a plant-based Mediterranean menu, I immediately bookmarked it, and this weekend we tried it out. To be clear, since the term 'plant-based' gets muddled a lot these days, Sipeos is a vegetarian, not strictly vegan restaurant. However, they do have fully vegan options, and other selections can be modified to be vegan - yay for vegan cheese! We perused the menu, and ordered a couple of drinks, and the Under the Tuscan Sun pizza to share: mozzarella, arugula, mushrooms, and beans. Pretty tasty, but I do wish there was less dough. Props for a 100% seed oil-free menu! Their beverage program promotes low and no-alcohol cocktails, wines, and beers. Not my jam, but I understand the intention, and that's what the cool kids are into these days. It's also odd to me that mocktails are priced the same as actual cocktails, and not just here, I've noticed this trend at other places as well. But if you want to spend $14 for juice, who am I to argue? Service was good, and the ambiance was nice. May return at some point.

Plenty of espresso drinks, freshly brewed coffee with cheap refills, and a pastry case that always has something worth grabbing. The breakfast menu holds up too. Avocado smash on sourdough and the farm fresh egg sandwich are both solid picks if you want more than a pastry. The space is the real draw. Indoor seating if you want quiet, plus a big covered patio out back with string lights, wine barrel tables, and heaters for the colder months. It's a pleasant place to sit and talk without feeling rushed. A few tips if you're heading over: get there early for the best seats, and street parking out front is free until 10am. After that you're hunting. Kitchen closes at 2pm, so plan accordingly. I've only ever come for the morning routine, but they've got a full bar with craft cocktails, draft beer from local breweries like Fieldwork and Altamont, and wine by the glass. The evening side is on my list. If you live in the area and don't have a regular coffee spot yet, make this it.

The two young ladies who helped my daughter and me were pleasant, friendly, and helpful apologies that I didn't catch your names! We also ordered a vanilla latte with sugar-free Torani vanilla (the absolute best!) and a matcha. The inside of the café is magnificent, but since it was such a beautiful day, we chose to sit outside, which was just amazing. The seating was very comfortable, and our food was brought out promptly. Thank you for the wonderful service and hospitality. We look forward to visiting again soon!

The place is dim which definitely helps set the mood. I've been here so many times on different occasions, it's a great place for girls night, poppin in for a quick bite after work or after bar hopping. This place is a must when in Walnut Creek. Side note: for my Halloween girlies, the spooky season drinks are firrrre!

We went here last night and the food was nice. Nothing more, nothing less, just nice…read more While, the quality of the ingredients were all good, I can't say any dishes were flawless. The caviar deviled eggs could have been excellent if the mayonnaise or some element hadn't been overly salty. The bread with whipped mascarpone was great. The beet salad left something to be desired. We've had versions of the salad at many restaurants and it almost seemed like somebody deconstructed the salad, put everything together separately in layers because instead of the arugula being dressed or tossed, everything just sat on top of this soupy dressing on the bottom of the plate. For $48, I would have expected some starch or base to go with the lamb chops. It just came with a swath of yogurt and roasted red peppers. Both of those were delicious, but there was nothing hearty about the dish. The spicy rigatoni definitely emphasized the spice. I can handle my spice, but I would say there's substantially more heat than the average person would expect. It was delicious, but just be prepared. For dessert, we had the pumpkin mousse, and as far as mousses go, it definitely seemed more like just the filling part of a pumpkin pie. In fact, the entire dish was like a deconstructed pumpkin pie. All the separate ingredients and flavors were there and the pumpkin's spices were very fragrant, but nothing to write home about. For a place with a French name, there isn't actually much French about the menu itself, other than some French-inspired garnishes and sauces. For a more purist experience, we would probably go back to Rêve. I can see what it's trying to be, but it still comes across like they're reaching for it. For a sexy, cocktail spot in WC, it definitely delivers on that. I'd just also point out that the alley seating is extremely loud and live. The service was good, but just like the menu, just seemed slightly too lax for the image and the prices they're trying to justify. We shouldn't have to ask for a second water glass, we shouldn't have to ask for replacement silverware when dishes are being cleared up and new place settings are brought out. None of these elements are egregious, but for nearly a $200 night out, you would expect a notch or two higher execution across the board.
