We stopped by for a bite to eat on our way through Calgary. What a great experience. Our server Alicia was incredibly attentive (despite have two seven-tops set immediately after us. She was charismatic and fun and gave us some great advice on campgrounds to stay in on our trip. The food was excellent! I had the Brie and asparagus Benedict which was perfectly cooked and hollandaise sauce was rich and creamy. My wife got the strawberry French toss which is a huge helping in itself. Coffee was flavorful and delicious. Well earned 5/5 stars. read more

I have lived in Airdrie for many years, way before sorso was around. I moved in the fall of 2019 and haven't been to sorso since. Before I moved I we had bike nights there, food and service was excellent. I'm not sure what the heck happened. I went in this morning with my husband as I wanted a coffee and I want to support local. I asked him to go here, nice to see a spot survive Covid. Between the many and I mean many people working they had one barista working. The lack of consideration for someone standing right in front of you, mind blown. We watched on our phones from when we walked in and left 23 minutes before I got a easy coffee and a tea. We were told multiple times I'll be right with you after we witnessed her forget about us and make drinks for others. There was zero structure. You are a coffee shop that was an awful experience. To top the cake I hope "Albert" reads this. He is a manager or owner. As the young disheveled woman finally decided to make our drinks after twenty minutes standing there I can hear her yelling 8ft away and see her as she is saying "Albert! Im about to lose my ****ing s**t. If you wonder why you didn't get a tip? Maybe revisit what service means. That was the most awkward and uncomfortable experience. Such a shame for a cool place. I'll keep my past memories of sorso. Only thing good about my experience today was the honey latte, good coffee. Bad service. Not worth it. read more

We came here this afternoon and had a great time! It was pretty crowded but we still had quick service. It's a super tiny place though and the tables are all very close together so if you're in a wheelchair or something, it's not very accessible at all. We ordered a couple of the bowls and they were SO good! We've only been in here a few times but the food is awesome. It's got a really cute atmosphere also, and lots of books and toys for the little kids to keep them entertained before the food comes. I had a gift card that I'd been given a while ago that I never got around to using, but when I went to pay with it, the waitress told me that they no longer used those cards and that their system couldn't accept them, which was totally fine and understandable. Instead, she gave me a $5 discount off the bill. She said herself that she thought the restaurant should have posted about it somewhere that they were no longer accepting them so that people were aware of it. I felt that since I had no way of knowing they couldn't take it (since they had nothing saying so online or anywhere) that the full amount of the gift card should have at least been honoured. Instead, it was just wasted money for the person who gave it to me. I think it would only be fair to at least honour it still. Otherwise, we loved our visit and will still always be back! One thing I think would be great though is if there was some sort of nutrition menu too, with like calorie amounts and nutritional value info. It would be super super helpful! read more

I'm copying the opening suggestion for review because it is exactly how I feel about this place!! Very rarely do I find a place where food is created so expertly and most of the decor is hand made, and 1/2 of the bar is an old farm find!! My first bite into my BCLT Mack daddies was heavenly so much flavour on a small English muffin, and it was enough of a breakfast with a side of honey granola yogurt to fill me! My husband had the classic breakfast, hash browns flavoured perfectly, bacon glazed with honey so lightly that it's not overly sweet, sausage was excellent!! Mocha latte was my husbands favourite coffee! What can I say about the decor and ambiance?? I love it, hand made wood tables and lighting! A little smaller and sometimes 45 min wait times, but owner is very personable and welcoming! They have drive through if you are in a hurry and take out too! All in all this is the best place Ove eaten for breakfast! Gonna try dinner soon and they support local charities and have charitable events once a month! Come see for yourself!! read more

I've been a loco person here in airdrie all my life and have been going to this spot for a long time. but I have never been soo down shamed in my life during my visit there this afternoon. staff seemed to be more interested in there own life's. then got a bill that could not show me the price per drink. then some girl came over and said we are being mean and know we aren't gonna show you anything. we paid the bill and went on are way but here is a warrant about that place. watch what they are charging on the bill. apparently they don't care what you have to pay. read more

I live across the street and Sorso has become an all time favourite!!! The asparagus eggs Benny is out of this world, the servers are all delightful and the atmosphere is cozy. I always pass along recommendations for this spot. read more

This quaint little restaurant/bar oozes character. It is quite small which makes finding a table in busy periods a bit hit or miss, but the lovely beer garden doubles the size in summer months. Now on to the food. The reason it is so busy at lunchtimes. I have eaten here a number of times and never had a bad thing. Everything on the menu is made with care and pride and it really shows through. It is well catered for drinks as well, with wine for me and fancy cocktails for my daughters (they are adults). This is a cracking little find. You definitely know that this place is somebodies passion project and more than just a business. I highly recommend it. read more

Sorso Coffee is a newer coffee shop in Airdrie, and I really enjoyed my breakfast here! The vibe is great, and I'm always for a coffee shop that turns into a bar in the evenings. It seems like a quality, quiet coffee shop that is a great place to hang. For food, I got one of their turkey/egg sandwich on an English muffin. It was a good size and very tasty. It came with a little garnish of orange, which was a nice touch. I wouldn't have minded if it were a little larger, but the taste was spot on. For coffee, I ordered a French press (perfect for a group). It made about 4 cups, which was great for our group. Not only was it practical, but the coffee was great too! Since I haven't spent much time in Airdrie, I'm not sure if there are many other coffee shops around. Sorso seems to be top notch though, so if you're passing through and wondering if it's worth a stop, I'd say give it a shot! read more

I've been to Sorso a few times now, despite living in Calgary this coffee shop keeps me coming back every time I find myself north of the city for business. The Café is warm and inviting with a modern-rustic atmosphere; highlights are the restored bar taken from a barn and some of the coolest light fixtures I have ever seen! Their coffee is locally sourced from Rosso and they also offer premium guest batches from across Canada, both are great for those who appreciate more than your standard Tim's or Starbuck's brew. This theme extends to their beer selection, yup beer in a coffee shop; it doesn't get better than that! On my most recent visit they had an in-house beer sourced from a local brewery and beer sourced from Grizzly Paw in Canmore (Beaver Tail Raspberry on my last visit). They also had Guinness and Kronenbourg for people looking for a familiar premium beer. This "locally sourced" + "international bests" is a winning approach in my eyes. I also noticed they had a ton of teas from Calgary's own Tea House, although I haven't gotten around to trying any yet I do like the clear effort to partner with local businesses. The food menu is constantly changing, with a good variety of sandwiches, wraps and desserts. I typically go with one of their feature sandwiches and the daily soup which has not disappointed on any occasion. The staff is always happy to take my order and answer any of my questions. I would definitely recommend stopping by next time you're in the area! P.S. They have a cozy meeting room in the back that can sit 10-12 comfortably, great hidden secret for students and professionals who want to make their next group or team meeting a memorable one. read more

First impressions of the place where very nice. The menu was easy to read and everything sounded delicious. It was very busy when we came in but we were seated right away and our server came quickly with some great suggestions. Unfortunately for us, due to renovations in the kitchen, half of the menu wasn't available but we still found some great dishes. My meal came quickly and tasted great! I got the bacon wrapped pickles and a flatbread pizza. After about 10 minutes of waiting for them to bring out my girlfriends meal I started eating mine as it was getting cold. 30 minutes after we had taken our orders and I had finished my meal, we asked our server where the other meal was because the people next to us, who had just sat down a few minutes prior, had been server their food already. They forgot to put her order through. After telling the server we were upset about this, they took 30% off the meal that was forgotten, and gave us a 10% off coupon for our next visit. All in all, the food tasted great but the service was not very good. We may come back for a coffee or beer but I dont know if we will come back for lunch. read more

The food is absolutely delicious, I got the chicken Caesar salad and was surprised the portion wasn't bigger. I don't mind not getting lots of chicken, but at least pile on the greens for the price it was. But that's honestly my ONLY dislike!!! Wanted to love it because I want to support my local businesses. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend if you have any serious food allergies. The reason is because what I ordered was described inaccurately and was misleading on the menu. As I result I ended up having a bite of food that I do not eat. Menu said vegetable wonton in the dish I ordered and was actually meat. First bite of meat in years which was very upsetting. Secondly, I checked the website and they specifically said they were Vegetarian and Vegan friendly and many dishes could be adjusted. When I went this was not the case. Given above, if i had a serious allergy I would be reluctant to have full confidence in the information they provide. All that said, good place for a cocktail and chat kinda thing. read more

Wow, there's a vast array of reviews for this coffee shop! I had a great experience. I was heading back to Edmonton from Calgary and wanted a good latte. The decor is great, there is plenty of seating, and the staff were friendly enough. The latte was made perfectly, and I even enjoyed one of the treats. What a great hangout place! Super cute and rustic inside but I wish the food and drinks were better! I tried their coffee 3 times, each time I ordered a different version and every cup I got was very sour, watery and just undrinkable. I tried adding 4 creams and 5 sugars gradually and nothing helped. The worst part is it's expensive. I was so frustrated that the breakfast I ordered tasted like plastic and the coffee was no better and that I still walked away with a chunk of money from my wallet gone to the bill. But I love the look and feel of the place and like to hangout there to do homework even if it is with a warm glass of wine. read more

My wife and I love this place - it's got a real charm owing to some creative decorating, including a repurposed bar (very cool) The Rosso coffee is great, and they make a mean breakfast sandwich aptly named the Mac Daddy, which comes 4 ways, my favourite being with their homemade sausage patty. Food was decent but the wait was disappointing. We came for lunch on a Sunday. It wasn't busy at all, maybe about 3-4 other tables occupied. Took about an hour for our 2x Mac Daddy sandwiches and a kiddo Hot Dog to arrive, and more waiting when we asked for popcorn. I thought Mac Daddy was supposed to be served with English muffins but ours was with one slice of rye toast cut in half. Would have been nice if we were informed ahead of time rather than finding out when we were paying and asking if the Mac Daddy is usually served with rye bread. Wasn't planning on having a 2-hour lunch here. I think we would have been in and out within the hour if the food arrived sooner. Not coming back anytime soon, if at all. read more

Just a quick update: Sorso has gotten even better. I lasted reviewed them during the first week that they had opened. They were still working out the kinks! The decor is even better since I was last there. A bit of a hipster, industrial and rustic vibe to it. I got to taste their food when I went last, and got tomato soup with grilled cheese. Damn it was good. The tomato soup was authentic, and reminded me of pasta sauce (in the "fresh-tomato" kind of way) and the grilled cheese was made on a panini press, so the crust was crunchy and delicious. I'll always go back as often as I can. Truly a unique and local gem in Airdrie. read more

I've been here multiple times hoping service would get better but it seems to be getting worse. Today it took 25 mins before anyone took my order. I finally went up to the till myself to place the order. And it took them 1hr to bring my steamed granola and latte. As I get to the bottom of my drink I discover some green onion looking piece of food in my mug. I think it's time to start visiting other coffee shops. I was very surprised to read the review below. I go to Sorso daily because the coffee is the best in the city and does Tim Horton's even know what an americano is? The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming and the staff is extremely friendly. It's super funky in there and I appreciate that it's not a typical coffee shop. We actually specifically went for the cheese scones, which are delicious!!! And I personally love that it is a family friendly coffee shop with toys and a kids corner to keep the little ones occupied while their parents enjoy a delicious drink and snack! First and last time my boyfriend and I will be in! We came in for a light snack and some coffee. The boyfriend ordered an Americano and two Turkey wraps to stay. Not too difficult since the wraps were in the display cooler. Besides the young lady who promptly made my boyfriends (enjoyable) Americano, it took 10 minutes to get our wraps which we had to ask for... Which all they (one of the six useless people) had to do was take them out of the cooler.
