Cute little place but must say very expensive. They charge if you substitute anything. There were a lot of hidden charges that I was unaware of till I went to the till to pay for. The custom service was good but it's extremely Slow. We had waited over an hour to Get Our food. The food has amazing presentation and the Nutella Crepe was our favourite! The wedges were also good. The food was good but defiantly $$$.

Lovely place for a nice coffee break in the afternoon on a Sunday with a colleague .I ordered the mochaccino - apparently it's espresso, dark chocolate and a bunch of other awesome stuff.my colleague had one of the "red" (ie rooibos) drinks. I actually saw the place when I was at sushi place right next to it earlier this year and I wanted to try it so today I made the effort to come over with a colleague to enjoy this café place today. I really enjoyed the atmosphere.and the set up.People working there were lovely.

Not only this place has very nice desserts, it also has very good breakfast and lunch food. I love their buckwheat crapes and Cobbs salad. Everything is very good quality with European flair. Service is very good.

This restaurant is not what it used to be. The costumer service was not the friendliest. Ordered the chicken and waffles benedict with medium eggs and was greeted with a waffle benedict with ham, bacon, spinach and extremely leaky over easy eggs (With a side of pear that was quite rotten and brown). My friend ordered the beef poutine and received overly salted potato wedges and a sauce that had an orange flavour that was not pleasing with the savory beef and wedges. Also, there appeared to be a strange fluffy substance in the sauce. And my friend pulled a twig like item out of her mouth while eating. I ordered the dream chocolate cake and it was quite strange. The mousse was an awful texture and the bottom of the cake tasted like yeast and admitted a foul odor. Also, I found more fluffy substances in my cake. My friend ordered the raspberry tarte and the shell was rock solid. The raspberries tasted awful and the mousse was not fresh and left her feeling ill. The bottled Fiji Water was the best part of this meal. We have had a negative experience and will remember this forever.

I have now been here twice. The first time I went I just had a latte and a cruffin, the lady at the till was very welcoming and friendly and was great when I asked questions. We sat down with our pastries and our coffees took forever to be made, we had finished our pastries and sat and talked and still had no coffees so I went up to the bar and asked for them to go. Second time I went for breakfast, much better experience. Everything came very quickly and service was great. Only complaint is there are very few waitresses working during a brunch rush on a weekend. My boyfriend had requested hot sauce and it was never brought to him as the girl was helping a lot every table in the restaurant.

I've come here twice within a week while visiting Calgary. I'm not too keen on the ordering process where u line up and look at the menu above. I feel like I need to rush to decide what to order. Then u get a number and they bring out your order to your table. It gets soooo packed in there on a Saturday afternoon you cannot even get a seat. Sure, you can order but after that you may need to stand wherever while waiting for a table to leave. The concept is flawed. On the other hand, the food is absolutely of the highest quality. It is very pricey at about $13.50 for a crepe but they do use organic ingredients. The strawberries are very fresh. The coffee is really quite good too. Even with the steep price I keep going back because I gotta say, you do get what you pay for in this case. I usually order strawberry with banana crepes & a bowl of chicken soup. (Because crepes alone won't fill me up.) The soup is really quite good. It is very baby friendly and they have high chairs that attach to the table for them. The staff is so helpful and absolutely friendly. Love it! The lost star is merely only for the crazy prices.

I take some of it back. I was there visiting the Cafe (the owners are old clients of mine) and they surprised me with a Crepe and Coffee. I was floored. The Ham and Cheese Crepe was absolutely awesome. I was also pleasantly surprised by the equally impressive cappuccino as it offered a good sublime flavour that complimented the crepe well. The only issue I find still is that it's still pretty far and out of the way for me in general (a 1/2 hour drive) especially as none of my friends and family live anywhere near there. But I'd like to run down there on a lazy Sunday with nothing to do and enjoy a brunch soon.

Ever since we had kouign amann almost a decade ago in a French patisserie in Quito, Ecuador of all…read moreplaces, my husband has been on the hunt for the best kouign amann wherever we travel. The bad news is, there is no good kouign amann in Seattle or anywhere in the western US (so far, by our calculations). The fantastic news is that there IS stunningly delicious kouign amann in Calgary! I first balked at La Boulangerie because I had bookmarked two other bakeries to try. But I'm so glad we came here. Walking up to the storefront, I took in the quaint outdoor tables and the people enjoying a coffee and brunch. The first language I heard outside was French, which only added to the idea that we were in the right place. It wasn't busy when we walked to the counter at an off hour during the week, but I could see this place being slammed on a nice weekend. Do yourself a favor and take the time to look at all of the treats in the case. I had no idea which one to pick, but I'm so happy I went with the pear marzipan croissant - something I wouldn't easily be able to find at home. The savory breakfast crepes were tasty but could have been enhanced by a sauce on the side - the ingredients inside were a little dry. The Nutella latte was AH-MAZE-ING. Sweet, hazlenutty, but not overpowering. I immediately looked up a recipe for a future attempt to recreate it at home. The standout by far was the kouign amann, which comes in more than one flavor (insert mind blown emoji here). My husband chose a vanilla-filled one. Holy lamination. The layers, the glaze, the crunch. The vanilla cream filling was somehow both fluffy and delicately flavored yet sturdy enough to survive a day in the car. If I could fly back to Calgary every weekend just to buy a single kouign amann from this place, I would. Service was wonderful and we were surprised that that instead of calling our number, the staff walked each component of our order out to us. Highly recommend. Please visit and fulfill all your kouign amann fantasies!
