Sora Lella is an incredibly special place; the first 100% Roman vegan restaurant in Edinburgh. Book a table online (you can order delivery too, but I don't think some of their menu holds up very well this way). FOOD What I've tried... + Olive Di Nocellara (marinated olives): can you go wrong with olives? It felt like the bowl we got when we dined in was enormous (we were able to snack on them throughout our meal), while what we got for takeaway was much smaller. + Suppli Romani (two fried bolognese rice balls filled with mozzarella, served with a mayo dipping sauce): ONE OF THE BEST THINGS I'VE EVER EATEN. We literally talk about the Suppli Romani at least once a week. My partner and I kept "joking" that we'd like to each get three or four orders of it, dump them on the Rocket Salad, and call it a meal. I probably will do this the next time I'm here. Don't judge me. + Rocket Salad (with parmesan, balsamic glaze, and olive oil): again, it's a hearty portion when you're dining in but it's a noticeably smaller portion for takeaway. + Gnocchi Salsiccia e Creme Tartufata (potato dumplings in a creamy truffle sauce with sausages): a really well-filled bowl with gnocchi that was *just* truffle-y enough without being overpowering, I didn't particularly like the little sausages though. - Penne Alla Vodka (with smoked seitan in a creamy tomato and vodka sauce): the only real miss we've had here. The whole dish was underwhelming in flavor and congealed quite quickly. - Spaghetti Caci e Pepe (with parmesan, black pepper, and truffle sauce): Not for me, only because you can get essentially the same flavors in the Gnocchi version. - Pepperoni pizza: I don't know that pizza is what I'd come here for, only because there are so, so many vegan pizza options in the city where as the pasta here is unique. + Tiramisu (coffee, sponge, mascarpone cream, cocoa, and a touch of amaretto): the perfect size for sharing with someone! + Biscoff Cheesecake (if they have it): not perfect for sharing, but absolutely necessary to end the meal with! What I still want to try (because other reviewers have raved about them)... 1. Mezze Maniche alla Zozzona (tomato and cream sauce with bacon, sausage, egg, onion, black pepper); 2. Mezze Manicha alla Carbonara (carbo cream, homemade bacon, and black pepper); 3. Zoccolette Alla Sorentina (oven-baked pizza dumplings with tomato sauce, mozzarella, basil, olive oil). What I wish they offered... I think I've seen online that at one point they had an aubergine parmigiana. I would LOVE to see that come back! DRINK + Get a glass of wine or anything off their Spritz Menu! ATMOSPHERE It's a very intimate space, but so charming.Go to the bathroom and learn what Sti Cazzi means. You're welcome. read more

Great vegan Italian food! I had the Broccoli e Salsiccia pizza, but I had it with red sauce instead of the white sauce. One of the best vegan pizzas I've eaten. The cheeze was perfect! This was the best vegan restaurant I visited in all of Scotland! SOOOO amazing! I went back again before I left. Both the pizzas and pastas are fantastic. The garlic bread was also quite good and the vegan tiramisu yum yum yum. If I had a terminal Cancer diagnosis I'd go back there and eat every day! I wish I could visit Sora Lella right now and taste the rest of the menu. The food was fresh, authentic, and served with kindliness. The location was convenient. The pricing was reasonable. Overall, I had a lovely experience. *what I ordered *ZOCCOLETTE FRITTE ALL' ARRABBIATA E PARMIGIANO (SPICY) - pizza dumplings with spicy arrabbiata sauce and parmesan. I liked the chunks of tomato, basil, and olives in the sauce. The sauce was flavorful and spicy! As for the dumplings, I was confused and not impressed. I liked the innovative thought, but the execution fell short. The "dumplings" were dense and hard to cut. When I think of a dumpling I think of something soft, and maybe stuffed with something. It was neither. I wouldn't order it again. *BUCCATINI CACIO E PEPE - classic Roman pasta recipe made with parmesan, black pepper and truffle sauce. The pasta was al dente and cooked to perfection! The sauce was creamy and rich. I would have preferred a bit more truffle. However, the truffle on the dish was tasty, yet subtle. The portion and amount of black pepper were both great. If I could, I would eat this weekly. *SUPPLI ROMANI - fried Bolognese rice balls filled with mozzarella, accompanied with mayo. Placing the rice balls on a bed of arugula was a wise choice. The arugula and rice balls made a good pairing, unlike the mayonnaise. The sauce for the pizza dumplings would have been perfect. Overall, the rice balls had good flavors. I very much appreciated the chunk of mozzarella stuffed in the middle. The fry was perfection. It had a wonderful crunch. The rice inside was cooked well; not mushy, and not hard. EXTRA: Friendly service. Plenty of good options. Appreciate the cute straw and option for ice and lemon for my sparkling water. Make a reservation! They were fully booked and turned people away. The food was great and everything on the menu is vegan! We would have ordered more food if we were hungrier, but we ate a large lunch. As soon as we walked in, every table was full, which is usually a good sign. I recommend making a reservation in advance. We ordered the Arrabbiata pizza. The sauce was delicious and spicy, but not overly spicy. The cheese was perfectly melted, which is hard to achieve with vegan cheese. I was impressed. I'm assuming they make their own cheese from scratch. We also ordered the rocket salad and the balsamic glaze made this dish very tasty. The coconut-raspberry cheesecake for dessert was also delicious. I hope my wife and I can make it back to this restaurant with emptier stomachs before we leave Scotland! read more

Hey bellos, today my family and I really wanted some vegan Italian food and we stayed for 3 hours. We ordered four pastas and a pizza since we have a big family and there were good portions and everything was pretty delicious. I am not a big fan of vegan pizza but it was decent for what it offered. It is pretty pricey but the service was good. We also got the biscoff cheesecake for dessert and it was the cheesiest deliciousist scrumptiousist cheesecake ever!!! The bathroom was solid and there was good jazz music also. When I visited this place it still smelled with novelty. The place is cozy and really nice. They play nice music on the background and the atmosphere there is really nice. I have only positive words on service. Miss was amazing, time to time asking if we have everything, she also gave us great recommendations. I ordered white pizza - four cheese, coke and double espresso. Pizza was good, but not great (that's why I give 4*). Dough tasted more like pitta bread and filling didn't have strong flavor enough.
