Fantastic sandwiches! Pure chaos during the 9-5 lunch hour, need a better system in place for the rush. Overall clean space, good food.

Everything about this place is a yes. Fresh food, good prices, lots of options? Most of it is salads, pastas and sandwiches. You order from the line you want, say sandwich and they make it for you. You can then pick up drinks or desserts and go to the cashier. They are all super fast and the food is very fresh. I had the southwestern salad and it was so large and tasty. Definitely a great place to go for lunch. Can get somewhat busy during lunch weekdays. read more

Wait it makes me actually sick that this place isn't rated as high because my family could not stop literally waxing poetic about how much we were obsessed with this little market when we were here. First of all, there's so much space, and it's absolutely beautiful when they open the doors up on a nice day. SECOND, there is every single food you could possibly want in this little place, and a ridiculous number of options. If I worked around here, I would be in this place every day and I would never tire of it simply because there are so many options. My sister and I shared the fall date salad and the spicy calabrian chicken panini (which was on this delicious tomato bread). The salad was so fresh, the lettuce was so crunchy, and the flavors came together so well. The panini was definitely spicy (I had to take a few chilis out), but everything just tasted so fresh, and the bread meant everything to me. There's also pizza and pasta! And lemonade! And iced tea! Options are endless! read more

Got lunch catered from here for a business meeting. The box was a good size and not overwhelming. I am not a turkey sandwich fan but this was actually pretty good. The cookie, fruits, and macaroni salad were good accompaniments. read more

Staying nearby and placed a rather large order online. Impressed with the service as it was ready on-time, all special instructions (including labeling the sandwiches) were followed, and they got the order right. Food was tasty too, all enjoyed our sandwiches. read more

I really appreciate this business. Just finished a quick breakfast of sweet potato hash and fried egg over easy, expertly prepared by efficient, friendly, hard-working staff. Fast checkout was facilitated by another efficient worker with solid hospitality skills. Their cleaning routines are exhausting to observe, but greatly appreciated. One happy patron here! read more

Stopped by for lunch. There are various lines -- panini, antipasti, etc. The panini line was very long, but moved quick. By the time we finished getting our soft drinks and paying, our food was ready. The food was delicious. Not a lot of 2-people only tables, but there is a lot of seating available. Bathrooms were really clean too. Definitely coming again! read more

Leadership here is a plus as I was asked what happened during my last visit and why I was disappointed? While the pasta was not to my liking, the sandwiches are terrific and the pizza was good too! The team is nice, professional and have great smiles too. Just make sure you go to the line for the items you want and ask those standing around if they have ordered yet so you're not standing around waiting to order with those that have already ordered. read more

I am a regular at this place as I work in the building. I like the food but today I found a bug in my salad. I had eaten more than half of it when I saw a big dead bug and almost threw up. I talked to the manager and although he offered me a refund, I think it is a health hazard as so many ppl eat there during office hours. I wish they put more effort in maintaining a cleaner and sanitized environment. Don't think I will be coming back here read more

A slightly chaotic lunch environment worth the trouble for the Turino sandwich. The only item I've ever ordered here is the Turino sandwich, and once you try it, I think you'll understand why I feel no need to venture out. It starts with the focaccia bread--maybe the best bread I've ever experienced on a sandwich. Flavorful, oily, and cheesy, the bread alone would make for a good meal. Of course, there's much more to the Turino. It's loaded with grilled chicken, tomato, mozzarella, and various other toppings. Every bite is just incredibly warm, rich, and delicious. After I had this sandwich for the first time, I found myself craving it for like two weeks straight. Beyond the sandwich, Sopraffina is a decent spot. It has a lot of options, although this can make for a hectic ordering process if you don't know what you're doing. You basically have to find the right section and then find a person who will take your order. A few minutes later, your item will be called out, and hopefully you get it before someone else who ordered the same thing does. If you can get past the stress of that, I recommend it. read more

Translate Sopraffina to English, and the Italian word connotates something to the effect of "fine," "excellent," or "masterly". As it turns out, the name couldn't be more apt for this appealing, down-to-earth eatery. I tried the Sorrento sandwich, which is essentially an elevated club. Crispy and salty smoked bacon graces soft tomato ciabatta, laying the foundation for turkey and cheddar slathered in mayo. In short, I loved every bite. There was nothing innovative about this dish; it was just a classic executed to perfection. Prices here are quite reasonable, especially for the over-the-top massive chocolate chip cookies sold for dessert. The restaurant is within walking distance to the Old Post Office and the Willis Tower. We needn't travel to Italy when the finest Italian sandwiches are only a block away. read more

TL:DR - Upscale interior. Salad portions are huge with not possibility of getting a smaller portion. Pizza tasted exactly like the old school rectangle pizza from the cafeteria. Which is completely ok in my book. This place was fine, nothing any different than what else was around. This place is the weirdest combination of restaurants ever. It's part classy Italian restaurant, part food-court, and part school cafeteria. I came in for lunch towards the later half of the lunch hour, and it wasn't too busy. But they have several food stations you can choose from (e.g., salad, sandwiches, pizza, other) and then an extensive beverage counter. The one thing I wish they would do, is have a half or smaller salad option. I mean the salad's are really good size, but it's way too unwieldy if I'm also wanting to eat some pizza or ANYthing else really. But food wise, I got the sweet life salad and half a pepperoni pizza. The sweet life salad was forgettable to be honest. Nothing about it stuck out, except for the price. When I read the description on the menu, it sounded good, but then when I got it to my table ready to eat, I had forgotten what was in it already. Even looking at it, I just knew it had salad, chicken, and some raisins. But that's about it. The pizza on the other hand made my day! It's not very fancy, but my co-worker described it best, in that it tastes exactly like the rectangle school cafeteria pizza. Like EXACTLY, except that it's round. So I enjoyed that simply for the fact that it was very comforting and nostalgic. Outside of that, this place is fine, but not any better than anything else around. read more

I ordered a kale caesar salad which did not contain any kale...not even one leaf. It was all iceberg and two or three green leaves and condiments unfortunately dressed which I didnt prefer and not given options because no kale. I know its fast food, but its premium priced downtown food and unacceptable to not have options or take the item off the menu if you are out of stock on a main menu item, or acknowledge that dish was modified and to be alerted when ordering. Im in Willis Tower up to 5 days a week and I frequent this food establishment. Not going to pay $17 dollars for a premade and dressed iceberg salad anymore. A managers attention to detail would be appreciated. Good Luck and Im sure all the zombies will keep showing up to pay a premium for whatever food you guys make up when you run out of food. Not this guy. Wish I took a pic but had to get back to work. read more

Convenient place to have close to my office, and the sandwiches are pretty good. However, it gets extremely crowded during lunch, and I wouldn't count on being able to find a seat. Sopraffina Marketcaffe - Tea - Italian Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Located in the Franklin building, Sopraffina is conveniently located on the first floor. It is usually a madhouse during lunch hour due to its location. It is very difficult to find empty seating and it is even more difficult to hear yourself speak, nevertheless to gather your thoughts. It is noisy and very busy. I personally wouldn't sit here to eat just because it's pure madness. I do however love their pizza. First of all, the crust is dream worthy. It is not too thick in the sense that too much flour was added and then rolled out to make it thin. No, this pizza was light crust, meaning it looks like there's a lot of bread but when you take a bite, it's as if you're eating butter. I love it. I'm the type of person who loves the savoriness of the toppings and when the crust is too thick- it takes away from the toppings. I usually go here for lunch because the pizza is a guilty free choice (at least for me). I either get the veggie pizza or the margarita pizza. The margarita pizza makes me feel like I'm in Italy- it's so delicious. The mozzarella is so creamy but the cheese doesn't overpower the taste of the rest of the toppings. The tomato served on the margarita pizza is fresh, the aroma of rosemary will awaken your senses and make you wish you had a bottle of wine to compliment this pizza. The veggie pizza is even more delicious- served with spinach, onions, mushrooms and tomatoes, I always hate as I'm nearing the end because I want more. read more

I used to love Sopraffina. Yeah, it was a bit pricey, but what Loop Lunch hotspot isn't? Their pastas were above average, their pizzas were deliciously thin crust crispy, and their sandwiches always had the most amazing, fresh ingredients pulled together in breads and sauces that were heaven. Then....I managed to locate the nutritional info for this place. Sorry to be a Debbie Downer, and not to rain on any one's parade, but I figured the public could no longer go blithely skipping along like I once used to, thinking Sopraffina was a healthy, tasty break from my usual. Don't get me wrong, the place still has great tasting food. But the sucky part about yummy food is that it's usually bad for you. And I'm no calorie counter...but when I found out the mozzarella sandwich had more calories than a Big Mac meal, my jaw hit the floor. Shocking, isn't it? Chicken Parm - 590 calories, 32g fat 1/2 Margherita Pizza - 520 calories, 27g fat. yes that's a HALF pizza. 1/2 Cortina Sandwich: 564 calories, 33 g fat. again, HALF a sandwich. If you don't want to care for a day or 2 - go for it, this place has a sit down area that is usually full between 12-1, but their takeout options are easy (and environmentally friendly with Biobags!) But beyond that you're entering your own audition for "Super Size Me", dude. Don't say I didn't warn you. read more

Sopraffina Market Cafe is a wonderful mixture of various Italian foods and salads, mostly prepared as you wait. On some days, if the salad area has long of a line, I would opt for a pizza or sandwich, or something else. The choices are great and you are never at a loss to find something tasty and interesting. This location is also very convenient, since it's near the Sear Tower and the CTA El. The concept is similar to ones found in other cities, including Minneapolis and Toronto. Sopraffina tried a suburban location a few years back in Deerfield, but for some reason it never took off and closed. The food at Sopraffina is great and everything is fresh. I've taken clients and friends here, and we've never been disappointed. Expect to pay just under $10.00, unless you're very hungry and want to bring some back to the office for later. The only drawback is that it can get crowded sometimes. So, there's always Potbelly's down the block. Enjoy read more

Crap. Came here for breakfast, and it's the crappiest breakfast in the area. A small little quiche like affair with eggs, bacon and some mystery vegetables in it. Heated up a bit and tossed in a cardboard container. Meh. No, thanks. I won't hurry back here. read more

Sopraffina Marketcaffe - Super crappy breakfast. $6+ for this?! - Italian Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

My sister took me here for lunch today and I'm very pleased and will definitely be going back. Much better food than similar places like Caffe Baci, Salad Spinners, or even Corner Bakery. They have a variety of salads, sandwiches, pizzas and pastas. I had the Italian Cobb salad with mixed greens, artichoke hearts, kalamata olives, sun-dried tomatoes, gorgonzola cheese, and hard boiled egg and it was delicious! Generous portions too. You can add chicken to any of the salads for $1.99, which I did, and I was even surprised with the generous amount of chicken they put in my salad. Overall, the salad cost me $10, which I guess is a bit pricey for salad but I'm used to paying a lot for lunch in the Loop. I also had a taste of the vegetarian stuffed jumbo shells with meat sauce and it was heavenly. Can't believe I'm saying this about pasta from a cafe, but it really was good--better than I've had at some Italian restaurants. It tasted fresh and flavorful, not stale, or overcooked, or rubbery like you would find at other places. It is crowded during lunch, you may have to share a 6-top with others, but definitely worth a visit. read more

Pros: Great tasting food with fresh ingredients. I think they have a great price on the pizza (about $4 for a half pizza), but the specials' prices can either be worth it or overpriced depending on the special. The sandwiches are so tasty as well. But my favorite is the Margherita Pizza with fresh basil on top. Yum! The food here is reasonably priced (and still great quality and fresh) compared to many other lunch spots in the Loop. Cons: This location has limited seating and fills up pretty quickly during lunch. Thus you may find yourself either standing to eat lunch or taking it back to the office. Also, during lunch, since it gets so crowded, it can be pretty difficult to navigate the various lines at the different stations. Patience is required while waiting in line and a steady hand is need to protect your food so no one bumps into it on your way to the cashier stations. I love the food here as it all tastes sooo good, especially in comparison to similar shops like Caffe Baci. I'd probably eat here more often if it were closer to my building. They also are unique for using plastic drink cups made from corn and plastic "to go" bags that are biodegradable. Sopraffina is great for quick Italian food. read more

I've never been to this particular Sopraffina until MLK Day. I had read some of the reviews about how crowded the joint was at lunchtime, but thanks to the MLK holiday it was relatively quiet here. I can imagine the lines here at each station during peak times, but my only wait was a brief one waiting for the special pizza of the day to pop out of the oven. I ordered only a half-pizza, a thin crust with BBQ chicken, cheese and onions. It was a savory and piping hot taste treat, a bit light for lunch but I imagined the full pizza would have been too filling. Since it is across from my office I imagine I will return, but may have to strategically pick a time to avoid a full-on lunch crowd here. read more

Honestly, there are so many great places In this area it's nothing special. Lunch time is hectic and there is no system to ordering except for people standing at the counters in line, blocking everyone from getting anywhere else in the restaurant. I got a chicken Parmesan salad and it was incredibly greasy and overdressed; very clearly defeated the purpose of a light meal. To top it off, in the hour I was there, I began to work on my laptop and was very slowly finishing my meal. I was approached three separate times by a man who kept trying to take my tray despite me telling him I was not finished. I understand the promptness but please leave me alone. 2 stars is generous; the location warrants the second star. TLDR: nothing to write home about. Go to Panera. read more

Work lunch atmosphere is chaotic but the sandwich is worth it. I got the #4 and the pesto mayo was so good

A few friends and I came here for lunch and had a very tasty meal. Décor: They have the interior designed to reflect (what I imagine) an Italian market, which is cool. There are basically four options: salad, pizza, pasta, or sandwich. Each has its own line but they move rather quickly. There are a bunch of tables if you want to stay and eat and the place doesn't get too over-crowded during the lunch hour. Bathroom: I didn't use it during this visit. Staff: The sandwich maker guys and the cashiers are pretty friendly and very quick with their respective tasks - they help move people in and out quickly. Food: I've only had the sandwich station, so that is all I can comment on: The line never gets too long and the menu is right there for easy choice. I went with the Portofino (tuna salad sandwich) and it was very tasty. They ran it through the oven, which essentially made it a tuna melt, but the toppings still kept the taste out of the realm of "cheap tuna melt" taste. Additionally, I had a bag of chips and a water (they have big cups for free water! NICE!) Value: The portions are a big small given the prices... I'd like to see the sandwiches a bit larger. However, I think it has to do with the fact that all the meat is hormone free, etc. So, I get it. It's a nice change to know you're not ingesting a bunch of that crap. My friends are huge, HUGE fans of this place and I like it a lot as well. It's in the standard rotation and I will be back many more times. read more

5 Stars? For Sopraffina? Really? Yes, really. I love Sopraffina because they offer a reasonably priced and tasty lunch (under $10) and have choices that will please almost anyone. For a quick service restaurant, that's about as good as it gets. I'm not saying the food is actually "five star", but almost everything I've tried here is good. The sandwiches are made fresh-- I recommend the Chiana--Beef tenderloin, roasted red peppers onions, cheese, and horseradish mayo. Also, the salads are huge-- I like the Hilltop--mixed greens, candied walnuts, pears, dried cranberries, gorgonzola cheese and balsamic vinaigrette. Mmm.. I love the sweet fruit with the balsamic dressing (although don't kid yourself into thinking it's any healthier than eating one of their pizzas) read more

On days I'm feeling particularly lazy or just don't feel like facing the elements, I run downstairs to grab soup or maybe a salad from here on my lunch break. The quality of the food is really fresh, I'm personally more a fan of their baked goods as their scones and muffins are so fresh and tasty. I enjoy their soups every now and then but feel that they're sometimes tasteless and I end up having to sprinkle in some red chili flakes for a kick. The biggest pro here is the staff, everyone is always so helpful and really patient. I was told the owner of this Sopraffina in my building also owns Poag's and that he's very eco-friendly. If you pop in here, you can get a fountain drink for $1.12 (or around there) if you bring your own cup/glass. Also, they provide nearly recyclable everything - plastic bags, cups, and probably even recyclable utensils. But if it's nice out 9 times out of 10 I'll walk to the Panera on Wacker as it's cheaper, tastier and allows me to get in at least 10 minutes of cardio (going there and back) in the middle of my workday. read more

I usually only stick to their sandwiches or pizzas and everything I have tasted is honestly very good and fresh. The prices are on par with everything else you will find downtown but there are times when I have not even finished what I bought and take it home. Usually when I eat here, I leave with a full stomach unlike other establishments ( Hannah's Pretzel) the sandwiches here are REAL sandwiches NOT 3 inches wide and paper thin ham. Although pricey, they have a good assortment of fresh lemonade waters. There are different kitchens depending on what you may be craving for that day so its good to have variety. Even though it gets crazy busy during the peak lunch hour, I usually can find a table whether I go accompanied or on my own. read more
