Even small tables are interesting at Sophie's.

We were on a drive and decided to pull in to see all the shops, wine options, tea room, bookstore and more at Duncan Mills. The first place we visited was Sophie's Cellars, and it was such a great experience. We found beautiful and unusual gifts and cards. While we didn't taste the wine or cheese, we will be back. Alice is, without a doubt, one of the warmest, kindest, and personable shop owners I have met in a long time. Great parking in front, tables for picnic lunch or a glass of wine, and beautiful plants to inspire gardeners. Definitely worth visiting!

Haven't been to Sophie's in several years but after a day at the Pacific Ocean we stopped at Sophie's on the way back for a glass of wine. Happy to report that nothing has really changed. There is a new owner but Sophie's still serves a nice variety of white, red, rose and sparkling wine. Good pours and fair prices. We both decided on a crisp Albariño and relaxed on their outside patio and seating area. We had a late lunch so just ordered wine but ordering a cheese plate is an option. Maybe next time. Sophies's is located in the hamlet of Duncans Mills, population a whopping 84 people. Don't let that fool you. Beside the wine bar there are several gift shops with a variety of items as well as restaurants and a coffee shop. If you are in the area be sure to stop at Sophie's and enjoy a glass or two.

Wonderful cute little stop‼ Momma and I are on a road trip to the coast. It was literally 5'oclock Momma loved red Syrah while I enjoyed a white . We chose three Bree, Gouda & Sheep and were so thankful Sophie offered gluten free crackers for my mom to enjoy with me. Honey was definitely a perfect pairing. Mahalo Sophie

Had a really nice time sitting out on the patio with my husband and dogs. We got a glass of brut and a beer as well as a cheese plate. The woman working was so sweet and gave us 3 cheeses when we ordered 2. We asked her to select for us and were happy with the choices. Also had dried apricots, nuts and a jalapeño jelly along with crackers. Was nice and relaxing with good seating and nice umbrellas. Would definitely come back

Alice was our host and she was wonderful. She gave us advice on which wine to taste and gave us recommendations on food where it's dog friendly. Will be back the next time we are in town!

Beautiful garden and patio.

The cutest wine bar and shop. The owner was friendly and welcoming and gave us some great recommendations. I can tell she really enjoys her job and the people who visit her shop. We enjoyed a nice glass of wine and beer on the patio where the table was set with fresh flowers! The gardens were lovely and we even got a surprise visit from the neighboring cows out to graze! We purchased a bottle to take home and enjoy. If you enjoy wine or beer, you must check out this place!

Great little store! We stopped by here for some more information on local wines and tasting. Spoke to David (a fellow Brit that moved to California 20 years ago) and he was really helpful in suggesting the best Wineries for a tour along with some leaflets and a map of the area. He even gave us advise on which wineries give free samplings for customers of Sophie's Cellars! They have quite an extensive selection of wines and a fair amount of cheeses and crackers. If you are staying in the area whether it's for wine tasting tours or just a short break I definitely recommend a visit.

Unlike other more popular restaurants in the area, no need to stand n an endless line which is great. Beautiful spot with great bay views unlike some other area restaurants with a more industrial setting. All the food was excellent. Crab sandwich was outstanding with a gorgeous bun, fantastic couscous and excellent pickled veggies on the side. Clam chowder was very good with a great hint of bacon in the savory broth intermixed with clams. The Rock Cod paella was deemed excellent and my brother in law vowed to get it again next time. If you want a quiet place on the bay with easy parking, great views and friendly service give it a try.

My wife had the Crab Cakes which she said weren't bad. For $32 you got two 2-3 ounce Crab Cakes with a topping that tasted like a citrussy mayonnaise. If this is all you order be prepared to still have stomach hunger growls when you leave. No bread...No small salad or coleslaw on the side ! I had the Clam Chowder which was fair. Could have been hotter! I prefer a chunkier Chowder and this was more pureed. The biggest chunks of anything where the bacon bits. Very little clam meat in my bowl. Where's the beef ??....In this case clams ! I ordered the bread for $5 extra and you received about 3 ounces worth of a toasted bread. We had a pint each of tap beer and our total bill was just shy of $75. We gave it a try but won't be back.

Everything is also cooked to perfection, especially the fish and steak. There was also a fancy tea demonstration, I would say one of the best teas I've ever had. First off, the service is top tier! I was pleasantly surprised, this definitely was equivalent to a Michelin star experience. Amazing service and attentiveness, and were also in sync haha. The restaurant itself is beautiful and cozy, love the tree in the middle. I also love the dessert experience of taking us to the patio, even more cozy! with the fire and stars above, blankets included (: We also ate breakfast here twice -- I would recommend the burger for brunch! But service / ambiance is totally different and casual, you order first and then they will bring out the food to whatever table you choose. Definitely recommend to stop here if you're in Guerneville!

"This or that" for a shorter tasting menu for $80 pp before gratuities or tax. The "all that" tasting menu offers more variety for $140. You can also opt for a la carte by sitting at the bar and ordering off the bar menu. Everything we had in the "this or that" tasting was delicious. There were three small bites to start (raw oyster, scallop on blue corn tortilla, fried tapioca cheese square) then two appetizers (squash 3 ways, sashimi on passion fruit sauce). You get your choice of entree. I got the catch of the day which was a Mt Lassen trout which was perfectly cooked. My husband got the picanha which was also perfectly cooked medium rare. For dessert I got a basque chocolate cheesecake which was rich but not overly so, while he got the buffalo milk panna cotta which was refreshing with citrus. Breakfast is ordered at the bar which becomes a cafe in the daytime. The smoked ham and Brie on medialuna (basically a croissant with a sweet honey glaze) was the perfect combination of savory and sweet. I'm still dreaming of this breakfast sandwich! We also got the dawn ranch burger which comes with thicc fries with pillowy soft potato center. Both taste great with their tomato relish. The dining room is gorgeous with a rustic wood cabin feel yet cozy by the crackling fireplace. Our servers were extremely professional and friendly.

We were warmly welcomed when we arrived and you are given a wine card and instructions on how it all works. After that, you are left to explore the many incredible local wines they have here. You select the wine you want to try and the size of your pour and you have over 50+ local wines to choose from so it's an excellent way to try out some amazing wines! Many are smaller wineries so it's great that you can discover these wineries this way! You pay at the end and you will have the option to buy any wines that were your favorites. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and the area is spacious so you will have lots of options as far as seating. The service here is excellent! It has a relaxed vibe and is a great place to hang out. They have a food menu and you can select items from WM CoField Cheesemakers, Acre Pizza, or The Farmer's Wife and it will be delivered to you so you really have it all in one place, which is really nice and convenient. I highly recommend checking out their website for events that they have with the different wineries. During these events you can try out a flight of wines from a specific winery and take a deeper dive into their wines! They also have other fun events as well! Highly recommend coming and enjoying some local Sonoma wines!
