This is a lovely spot right on the lake. Pop in the nature center and chat to Heidi who is so knowledgeable about the area and then get yourself an avocado on toast or a crab and egg on toast and then watch the people in the canoes on the lake in the sunshine. This will mean that when you get to Bodega Bay a little down the coast you will be too not hungry to stop at The Birds cafe so consider that in your plans because this lovely cafe is not far from Bodega Bay and that is where Hitchcock made The Birds so do you want a Lake view or to view the pier where Tippi Hedren got out of the boat while you have lunch?Only you know. It's hard because the crab and egg on toast would be hard to match but if you are into film locations..you are going to have to choose folks...does a lake view trump an iconic film location? You order at the counter, and they call you to a window when your food is ready. The crab sandwich was good, but fairly small for the price. The crab was great, but it was bread-heavy. I was shocked by how massive the yogurt parfait was, and it had so much freshness to it. Loaded with toppings and honey. The clam chowder was different but so flavorful. Perhaps not the most traditional, but fantastic in its own way. The pastries were all great, especially the oatmeal cookie. This place really shines with its amazing outdoor space. What a nice little pit stop on highway 1 in the smallest town of Jenner, CA. Right where the Russian River meets the Pacific, sits this little shanty with only outdoor seating. On a warm, sunny day, it's hard to beat. The menu is limited to a few salads, sammies and pastries. But, the special of the day: crab and eggs consisting of 2 poached eggs on focaccia with crab meat, atop a mound of arugula, was delicious. A nice portion of crab, perfectly poached eggs... chef's kiss. While I got an iced tea, the seasonal special syrups for the coffee were a mushroom and a quince... FUN and so unique. My wife wanted to do something fun today so I suggested we go to the Cafe Aquatica in Jenner, CA. We intentionally took a long route to get there so we could enjoy being out on the country and seeing all the country roads and all the wildlife along the road. When we got there, they were very busy and it turned out that usually we go during the weekdays so we did not know they had live music on the weekend and we absolutely enjoyed it. These are local guys and gals that are in love with music and what they do and they share it with people that come there on a tip basis. Please tip generously if you can. They bring a special feeling and emotion to this area that we always had, but it got elevated. We had the crab sandwich. It was absolutely amazing. It comes with their in-house, homemade pickles, and my wife, and I shared one of those and had a table right next to the water. I just sat there and bathed in her radiance as she enjoyed the view, the wildlife, and the music and the companionship. I'm almost afraid to share too much about this place because it's one of my faves to go to and I don't ever want to get there and find out there's 1 million people and I can't get in. Just so you know, they have an enclosed area if it's windy and cool that you can eat an outside. They also have an inside area and they have an outside of the outside area where you sit at picnic tables right next to the river. There are no bad views from anywhere in this place. The food is always fresh and made it right there and the staff is very helpful and friendly. There's plenty of parking on the sides and the bathrooms are nearby. Stopped in cafe aquatica for brunch and a coffee on our way out of town and we were glad we did! Coffee first and my cortado was excellent. Ordered our food at the same register. The special was crab and eggs. Poached eggs and lump crab on top of a brioche bread. Good size portion and delicious! The lox and bagel was great also. They gave a few counter seats but mainly outside seating ( some covered). There are 2 Adirondack chairs on an elevated portion of the deck- very premium spot for the best view. They have a limited menu featuring local ingredients. Very relaxing spot to eat your meal. They have coffee, pastries, breakfast and lunch items. Orders are placed inside and you pick up your order from an outside window. I ordered the lox bagels - very good. Pups are allowed on leash. Drove here after a hike in Bodega Bay! You order at the counter inside and pick up your food from the window outside. The line was pretty long around noon on a Monday, but it moved quickly. Couple things to keep in mind: during our visit there was patchy cell service and no wifi (not sure if that's typical). Also the restrooms are the public ones next door at the visitor center. Ordered the avocado toast on focaccia bread which was tasty, though a little heavy on the seasoning for my liking. The real showstopper is the view. Most of the chairs have attached tables to set food on, making it easy to sit and enjoy the river and sunshine. A lovely spot to unwind! read more

Lots of seating outdoors providing an amazing view and barstools inside, however, the parking is limited. SERVICE: You order at the counter inside and they have a pick-up window outside next to the water dispenser. FOOD: We all ordered the Crab Roll at $22.00 each. It was good but served on a small round bun with an Aioli sauce and sweet pickles on the side, BUT, as soon as we started to eat the wasps swarmed in on the meal and made it dangerous to take a bite, so a lot of people went back to their cars to finish their meal. If you driving along Highway 1 through Jenner you have to stop here! They have an incredible patio seating area overlooking the water and the ocean! The food is delicious as well as their coffees. I saw this on my way home from Timber Cove and decided to stop by. The cafe was so busy with a line snaking around the place. It gave me enough time to figure out what I wanted. I ended up getting a late with jasmine syrup and a chocolate chip cookie. I wasn't hungry just wanted to see why the place was so busy. I went outside and went around and found a live performance and a crowd of people chilling and watching while sipping coffee and having lunch. The background was picturesque with the ocean views. We stopped in mid-afternoon on a Sunday, after hiking at Jenner Headlands Preserve, and parking can be tough to find on the weekends. We lucked out and got a spot right out front but saw many people parking along the road. They were busy! Do not be deterred by a line - it moves quickly. They offer fair trade coffee and espresso, which is roasted locally in Freestone, a casual coastal menu (think sandwiches and salads), and scratch-made pastries....as well as some beers, wines, canned teas/drinks, salty snacks, and fun merch. We got two sandwiches, which both came on house-made focaccia): Eggs + Toast $16 Toasted focaccia bread with two poached eggs, aioli, arugula and everything seeds *I recommend adding avocado to zhuzh this up Rainbow Sandwich $14 Toasted focaccia, cabbage, avocado, greens, beet spread, shredded carrots, beets and aioli served with a side of pickles *Loved the cornucopia of fresh, colorful, veggies, but didn't eat all of the focaccia. Two focaccia sandwiches felt like a lot of bread to us. Next time we'll try the Cafe Salad, which seems like the salad version of the Rainbow Sandwich, and we'll try their coffee. I saw this as a top result via yelp and decided to give it a try. They have a small parking lot with another larger one right next door to the visitor center. They don't have any restrooms there only a sink for washing your hand and the closest would be next to the visitor center which is more of a park restroom with no sinks. It's a cute little spot but on the weekends there is live music and it gets very packed. They have different performers that swing by so check the website for more details. I want to say from 1-3pm is when they perform but again, just double check the site for more details. They have some barstool seating inside and it was empty. The line was pretty long when I went to order but it moved fast. I tried a few things off their menu - smoked salmon sandwich, crab roll, and a clam chowder. Honestly the food was expensive and not good. The three things plus 2 lattes were $65. The smoked salmon sandwich was wayyy to salty and they were super stingy with the arugula and it didn't seem very fresh either. Their smoked salmon also wasn't what I expected it to be, it wasn't the think sliced moist kind, it's like they just smoked it themselves leaving it more dry and maybe 10 minutes away from being a jerky. The crab roll was good, but again skimped on the arugala too. Clam chowder they asked if I wanted croutons, I said yes, and there was none on top, just a bunch of oil which made it seem so unhealthy. No taste, and super watery, probably one of the worst ones I've tried. All in all - if you were going to go and get a coffee and enjoy the vibes it's a good spot, food wise, I wouldn't expect it to be top notch. read more
