This is a BYOB, cash ONLY Italian restaurant. There is an ATM nearby. There's metered street and lot parking. The food was good. There are outdoor tables. There was a couple playing live music. Ernesto got us a table although we didn't have reservations.

A group of 15 of us went here recently for a Christmas luncheon for work. Love the ambience and decor in the place and Ernesto, the owner, was the perfect host. The antipasto platters were beautifully presented and full of good stuff... cheeses, meats, pears, roasted peppers, olives, etc. Sardines too, I think, which not many people seemed to like LOL. I had a nice BLT on good bread with avocado and a spicy mayo... I think it was chipotle mayo, but I didn't taste any chipotle... It had just a subtle heat to it which was perfect. The fries were awesome - I just wished I'd had maybe 10 more of them or so LOL. Seriously though, they were really big actually homemade fries so the four that I had filled me up. I also had a side salad which was some nice mixed greens and grape tomatoes with a balsamic type dressing. Overall, everything was great! We were really surprised that only one other table was filled while we were there... Hopefully it fills up more at dinner time. Kudos to Ernesto and his staff. I would love to go back sometime.

    Ravenous family...bruschetta (tradition and mushroom/funghi)

I don't get out to PA as often as I should, and that became even more apparent after hitting up Sontuosa for my brother's birthday. Cute place - apparently taken over from a previous pizza shop - so it's a good thing them offer of a variety of pizzas...along with many other tasty treats. They were also rather accommodating for the 3 year old and 4 month old joining in on the celebrations. For appetizers, we had: Bruschetta: We opted for the traditional (tomato, onion, basil) and the mushroom and shaved ricotta salsa. The traditional tasted super fresh, but I thought the winner was the mushroom one, just bursting with flavor. Octopus: I'm a yuuuuuge grilled octopus fan, and Sontuosa's is no slouch. Not chewy, well-prepared. Mussels: We got the white sauce preparation (and a some spice) - lovely; while we were almost stuffed from the other apps, I just found myself looking for (or asking for more) table bread to soak up the saucy goodness! Mains: I ordered the Grilled skirt steak topped with Gorgonzola cheese served over pureed parsnips and dressed in a red wine reduction - cooked nicely, though a little light on flavor for me. But the pureed parsnips/Gorgonzola was bangin. Mom got, IMHO, the winner of the night (and the dish I was eyeing, but ended up striving for diversity at the table) - Agneau (Grilled lamb loin marinated in mint and red wine finished with wholegrain mustard and black bean sauce). I'm normally not a big lamb guy, but the mustard got me interested (addict) and wow did my mom (and Sontuosa) get this dish right. Wow. My brother opted for the daily special - braised short ribs. And these, indeed, were the fall-off-the-bone, seemingly slow-cooked for hours, type of short ribs. While he had to share some of his bounty with the little ones, they all seemed rather pleased. My dad opted for the branzino filet, and it wasn't long before his dish was clean. My sister in law ordered the "Not Yet", which sound super interesting with the salty/sweet combo (White with prosciutto san Daniele, Gorgonzola, sun-dried figs). I managed to barter for slice, and while I'm normally more of a red-sauce pizza guy, this...this was good. We also ordered a side of sauteed brussels sprouts (as if we needed more food) - not the gang-busters, bacon-infused variety (again, as if we would really need that), but a nice, solid side. And on to the sweets: The birthday boy (dad/brother/son) opted for a flourless chocolate cake ala mode. And, I mean, how do you go wrong with that? A spoonful of decadent, dense chocolate cake topped of with some vanilla ice cream...that could end wars. Lovely. Mom ordered the caramel/walnut-filled crepe with ice cream - sweet, but not too sweet, really nice. I, as a bread pudding fiend, got the bread pudding (with ice cream - duh). And while most bread puddings I've had are on the lighter/fluffy side, I do actually from some density. This bread pudding has some mass! I probably could have used a spork to get all the way through, but oh man, a spoonful of the densely warm goodness topped with slowly melting ice cream...I would make the 2 hour commute from LIC just for that (and maybe some of that lamb/mustard masterpiece). My brother has good taste in PA restaurants. Thankfully, I have good taste in brothers.

Is there free parking or is it paid parking?

There are parking meters in the area, but I believe they only require payment during the day. There is plenty of parking in the area, especially with the parking block just across the street. We have never had a parking problem.

When we happened to park in front of it while looking for a quick meal, I suggested we try something new. We are both happy we did! The restaurant was bright and chill, with a kind of urban-hipster vibe. The gentleman who assisted us was very friendly and helpful. The food was amazing -- so fresh and delicious! I got a Custom Dig Protein Bowl with Crispy Tofu, Herbed Rice, Cheesy Cauliflower, and Roasted Sweet Potatoes w/Hot Honey Sauce. My daughter got a kids' custom bowl with salmon, brown rice, and carrots, and couldn't stop raving about how good it was (especially the salmon). There are beverages available for purchase, as well as complimentary water, which we appreciated. The only reason I can't bring myself to give 5 stars is because our table was a little sticky and the silverware was not clean. It seemed clean enough otherwise, though; so I would probably give 4.5 stars if I could. I'd welcome the opportunity to dine here again, for sure!

From the very beginning, Gina went above and beyond to ensure my daughter's bridal shower was absolutely perfect--and it truly was. She reached out to me several times on her own to check in, answer questions, and reassure me that no matter what the weather brought, she would make sure we were accommodated, whether indoors or outdoors. Gina even gave me her personal cell phone number and told me to call her anytime if I needed anything. Every time I reached out, she responded immediately with professionalism, kindness, and genuine enthusiasm. She made me feel like no request was too much trouble. On the day of the event, Gina exceeded every expectation. She personally provided directions for unloading and arranged for her staff to help carry in all of my decorations. Her positive attitude never wavered. She never responded with "no" or "I can't." Instead, she focused on finding solutions and making everything work. Nearly 40 guests attended the shower, and so many of them commented on how beautiful and perfectly organized everything was. I honestly could not have pulled it off without Gina's support, guidance, and willingness to help every step of the way. Lola's Garden is fortunate to have someone like Gina Picciano leading your team. She is an exceptional manager, a true professional, and a tremendous asset to your restaurant. Employees like Gina are the reason customers return and enthusiastically recommend your establishment to others. Please accept my sincere gratitude and recognize Gina for the remarkable job she did. I ordered the roast beef sandwich with fries...my friend ordered muscles and the ham sandwich special. The muscles arrived cold. Not warm, not tepid...just cold. They were sent back for a trip in the microwave which is a place that shellfish should never journey too...if you want them to remain tender. When I ordered, I asked about a few items and was assured that "people love the roast beef". Now I've had "French Dip" style roast beef before at other restaurants, and when done right...it's a memorable experience. Crusty toasted torpedo style roll brimming with thinly sliced hot beef...provolone cheese melted over the top and down the sides...served with a side of au jus dipping sauce, that you would want to slurp down a soup bowl full. But this...was not that! The sandwich arrived on a hamburger style bun...the meat was piled "adequately" in the center but sloped off considerably as it headed for the edge of the bun. There was no need to worry about meat falling out as I took a bite...as none of it protruded past the buns edge. The cheese was there...a single uninspired round slice covered the cold and somewhat soggy bottom of the bun... and wasn't melted...at all! I suspect that the kitchen assumed that the meat would melt the cheese...but the meat would have to be hot for that to happen. In this sandwich...the closer you got to the middle of the "meat mound"...the colder it got. And little did I know when asked if I wanted provolone on the sandwich...that it would be an additional charge. Now for my fries. They weren't hot...they weren't even warm...they were "ice cold"! I sent them back light heartedly joking that there must be a door open in the kitchen (it was a cold evening) and the server returned shortly with hot fresh ones...minus the pickles that were on my plate. This goes to show that fries can reach the table...hot. The hot ham and cheese sandwich "special", served on a pretzel bun, wasn't hot...and wasn't special. I saw no melted cheese...only thin dry slices of ham, stiff as roofing shingles, protruded from the roll. There was no mustard...no sauce...no "something special" to make the "special", special... just stiff little sad ham planks...wondering where they went wrong On both recent visits...the service has been "spotty". (I know that cell service in the pub isn't spotty, because on my first visit...both servers had their heads buried in their phones). It doesn't seem like there's a real system in place for insuring that the customers receive "attentive" service. To their credit...they did remove the muscles from the check without us asking...but I never got a feeling that the next party to walk through the door...would have a better experience. When you find a good local pub with great food...it's like going to eat at grandmas house. You know that you'll always leave feeling warm, wanted, and fed really well. And you'll be excited by the thought of a return visit. I'm still looking.
