Salmon ceviche

In town for work & customer took me here for dinner. Wow what a great experience. Lively place with great service & awesome food. Their tequila flight is spectacular. I was educated on tequila & appreciated it since I don't know much about it. Great vibe here.

Other than being unable to get into the speakeasy due to a private event... It was great. The drinks were delicious and the server made great recommendations based on preferences. I actually didn't even know they served food there and everything that got walked by our table looked delicious. I ended up ordering a dessert that consisted of key lime cheesecake with strawberries and it was out of this world. The indoor space was a bit small but they have a big patio area. Wish we could've been able to visit downstairs, but we'll just have to come back!

Tried the carne asada taco at Sonora Moonshine and it was literally the size of my head. The meat was tender and flavorful, and the green chile and cheese cooked inside the tortilla made it even better. The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. Definitely worth a stop!

The small intimate stage.

This place is pretty great. We went to see a singer (Paul Opocensky) who we used to follow when he was the lead of a local band (Tongue Dried Sun) here in Tucson. My wife and I were visiting Sonora Moonshine for the first time, and I think we both found the venue to have a bit of a "hip" vibe; it definitely has a welcoming aura; and it is a really nice place to enjoy performers in an intimate atmosphere. Sometimes the stars align and an, "evening-get-away" turns out to be exceptional. So was it last night at Sonora Moonshine. The drinks here are very creative (see cocktail menu in photo below). And judging from the sips that I snagged from my wife's cocktail, the bar-keeps here know how to combine ingredients to make "drinks of the divine." (aka: Nectar of the Gods). *They serve their drinks in pretty, ceramic glasses--which are kinda cool--both literally and figuratively. For my first round of drinks, I opted for the Ruta del Agave which involves a flight that includes 2 shots of mezcal and 2 shots of Mexican moonshine--all from different areas of "Meh-he-coe" and the choices rotate monthly . Ladies, be warned... these drinks will put hair on your chest. I'm kidding. But These drinks are served in mini-ceramic shot glasses (see photo below) and although I enjoyed their smokiness, they do have a bit of a bite. A tasty bite, but I probably won't get this again. I like the idea of trying something unique, but on the next trip here, I really would like to sample the cocktails that are their main-attraction/ feature. (*One of their drinks has the essence of pine needles from Mount Lemmon, another has fermented honey...And cricket salt. I don't know what that is, but come on! Adventure awaits!) Although the bar is known for it's drinks there is a little known secret that we discovered last night. Kinda keep this to yourself if you would, as we are definitely going to return, but would rather not have to wait in a super long line to get in...The nachos here are "off the hook". (No kidding! They are really-really-really good...chock full of southwestern flavors, thick chips, smoked meats, and generous heaps of exotic cheeses). So, let's say you are a guy and you want to score some points with a special lady. Take her here and see if you can convince her to share an order of these amazing nachos. As she indulges in the dish, she is going to start to wonder if you might "be the one." And finally, most of all...don't take dating advice from me. It has been verified by science that I, "got no game."... No game at all. But the drinks and the ambiance and especially the nachos...they are all really good. I think you too will find Sonora Moonshine to be a fun place to experience!

Love love love their drinks! We got a few drinks and had our own little drink tasting! They were all amazing! My favorite was the last resort water: so refreshing! They also have a nice food menu. We tried the nachos de birria. So delicious! Fun place to hang out with friends! They have lots of seating and live music. Service was great! ** if you have time ask about their speakeasy!

Queso Fundido

A friend and I met up for some food here before heading downstairs to check out Prohibición, and we really enjoyed our sharables! The menu on weekdays is a bit on the small side, but we were still able to find several items that looked appealing. We got the Queso Fundido and Ceviche de Salmon, and both were delicious! The Queso Fundido has birria in it, which is fairly unique in Tucson (most places go with chorizo), and I absolutely adored it. It had an incredible pull on the cheese and the flavor was fantastic. The spicy richness of the queso was offset by the very light, citrus-forward acid of the ceviche, which was plated gorgeously. The restaurant was very very quiet on the weekday evening we were there, and the server checked in on us regularly without it feeling overbearing. I also highly recommend asking about and visiting Prohibición when you go!

Shrimp ceviche tostada, soft pretzel and carne seca with guacamole

Haven't had a shrimp ceviche tostada this good in such awhile. And I LOVE a good soft pretzel which was great. Great drinks and staff, and dog friendly patio!

Well guys, I found another vibey biz in Tucson that didn't have a single vegan item on the menu.. disappointing they couldn't even serve up guac without carne ? I did enjoy the outdoor seating with friends and drank a yummy mocktail.

Ricotta cheese dip con carne seca $16) and a lemon fizzy cocktail (6/2025)

Another semi-under-the-radar downtown gem! Ventured to Sonora Moonshine with 12-15 coworkers for a celebratory retirement HH for two colleagues. It's quaint with a couple of small 4-seaters and a half dozen 2-seaters (which we took over). By 5:15 on this Thursday there were fortunately only 3-4 others besides our group (one of the reasons we phoned ahead to coordinate our visit with SM). This is both a craft cocktail and craft appetizers joint. That is to say, creatively clever ingredients fused to make unique riffs on standards - and one-offs! The bites menu is simply delectable. My favs were the ricotta cheese dip with carne seca (underneath) served with thick toasted bread and the queso fundido, also with birria underneath. Both proved to be not just savory but substantive thanks to that little surprise layer of simmered beef and, as a result, well worth the $14-$16 each. The most popular drink on this 100° afternoon was the lemon fizzy, although their version of the espresso martini looked delicious. In terms of ambience, I don't know if this would be an ideal first date spot since the tables are close together and the venue is small. But for any other occasion - pre-show; after work; etc., it's now in my top-10! Parking will be a challenge since it's right on Broadway. But a garage is about 3-4 blocks away and there are a handful of meters sprinkled on most of the side streets. Remember as of 6/2/25 meters now run until 7p And now include Sat :-/

Baby

I hate to admit it but they have the best tacos in Tucson... my baby loves the kid menu the agua de chile con camarones. They cut the grapes perfectly for a small child. I've been many times so I can say with experience there is great service and the music on Sunday afternoon is divine. I just spent all Friday watching march madness and indulging in different items. I was stuffed. Some must tries are the ricotta carne seca and nachos. My only regret is bringing my baby instead of my dog!

This is a great local spot to stop for drinks and a quick bite to eat. Most of the food menu items are shared appetizer type dishes and not actual entrees. The Carne Seca with guacamole was so good! However, I don't think I would order the Ceviche de Salmon again as the fish seemed like it just came out of the refrigerator. I tried the Last Resort Water cocktail the waitress recommended, it was refreshing and nice. They have a large outdoor patio with vibrant colors, indoor seating, and the Prohibicion speakeasy in the basement.

Jocelyn S.

I only had one drink. The food menu looks good. I will return and edit my review. We only went down to speakeasy for a bit but the idea is that you tell your server what sort of drink you want and they make it up for you. No menus. I love that for a fun night starter. People in my group weren't drinking so this didn't work for us at the time. But I will be back when the mood for this is right.

I came for an event and immediately realized this is the kind of spot where every visit probably reveals something you missed the last time. The space is wildly eclectic in a way that feels intentional, not chaotic. You look up, you look around, you look again. There's a whole back area you wouldn't even know exists unless you wander, complete with its own seating and energy. Turns out they host yoga back there, plus a rotating lineup of events that actually feel community-driven instead of forced. Then there's the food situation. A Thai street food truck parked on site serving absolute flavor bombs. I had a curry tofu Thai taco--something I've never seen, let alone eaten--and it brought legit spice and depth. One of those "wait, why is this so good?" moments. Inside, the details keep stacking. A vending machine filled with mini purses, bath salts, and handmade artisan goods? Unhinged (affectionately). Swag everywhere. Walls that give you something new to look at every few seconds. And if that wasn't enough, they partner with Anello, which happens to be my favorite pizza in the city--so yes, that alone earns points. What really sealed it for me was how inclusive the menu is. A full non-alcoholic selection, vegan cookies and non-vegan options, so no one feels like an afterthought. Service was solid, friendly, and matched the laid-back but intentional vibe of the place. Honestly, I'm shocked it took me this long to make it to Crooked Tooth--but now that I have, I get it. This isn't just a brewery. It's a choose-your-own-adventure kind of space, and I'm already looking forward to the next chapter.

The restaurant is tucked away in an alley downtown, but the inside greets you with its cozy and fresh feel. The pastries at the counter had a nice mix of regular, gluten free, and vegan options. The outdoor seating in the back is also very cute and set up so that you get plenty of shade. You order at the counter and they give you a beeper that will tell you when your food is ready at the counter. I ordered the Nachos with chicken and my friend got Bentley's Tofu Burrito and an iced Caramel Brown Sugar Latte. The food came out fast and was more plentiful than I was expecting! I could see the nachos being a great sharing item for a the table. We both went home with leftovers and were satisfied. I feel the need to come back in the morning again for a study day to try their drinks and pastries, as well in the evening to try their dinner menu. We were able to sit by the turtle and fish pond, so we had a perfect location. To order the food, you need to go inside to the bar and place your order. The food was presented beautifully and this place seems to be tailor-made for Instagram. The food was solid, but honestly it wasn't as spectacular tasting as it was great-looking. Also, it is curious that there is tipping expected (pay when ordering at the bar), but no one takes your order and you pick up your own food. To me, that's a one-star deduction. If it's self service, I don't think tipping should be expected. In terms of atmosphere and food presentation, I give this five stars. In terms of taste, it rates 3 1/2 stars. In terms of service, well, it's not bad service, it's no service.

It's a fun and also elegant atmosphere with the zebra theme clearly exemplified across the space. I would have to say this is one of the coziest bars I've been to, the furniture and seating is really supportive of a long-term visit. There are other levels, lower and an upper level besides the main space, but be aware that if there are parties, they can typically take up different areas. Our bartender, Sarah was fantastic! The way that she handled all of the guests and the busy field was incredible, so calm and collected, and furthermore making some really incredible drinks. Heads up that the online drink menu is not the current drink menu, I couldn't remember all the names of our drinks and put those in the photo captions, so when I checked on the website, the menu was showing something different other than what I saw at the bar. Out of several places I've been to, I'd say the mixture of flavors and details in the drinks are quite unique. I'll be back for more one day
