If you're looking for authentic Mexican food you're definitely in the wrong place! With that out the way the service was good , staff was friendly and assertive... the drinks and guacamole were good as well but rice was hard and beans were definitely canned .... Enjoy read more

Decent vegan menu, nice atmosphere. I grew up in southern California with all the access to authentic Mexican food and hole in the wall restaurants that provides. This is not that Mexican food. Definitely what you'd expect from a more upscale Mexican joint in Utah. Vegan menu has good options, fried avocado tacos with mango salsa are EXCELLENT. Quesadilla on the other hand was expensive and just tortilla and beans. The location itself is great if you're downtown seeing a movie or going out, pretty place to sit and eat, very lovely restaurant. I would say it's an excellent place to go if you're vegan but your dining companions aren't. Something for everyone. read more

Great food and service. We have been to this location 10 or more times and the food is always good.

Good food. Service was wonderful! Went at lunch menu was limited but still great! Will definitely go back

Good food and good service!! This was one of the few places that were open on a Sunday night around 8pm and I am so glad! Our waiter Jenni was quite prompt with refilling drinks and being attentive even though she missed one of the entrees (but mistakes happens?) The queso fondudo (not sure if that is how you spell it) was very interesting! It is made in front of you and they basically just combine cheese and melt it in a small pan and you eat it with chips. The chips that were free however were sort of weird? It looked like it was for a tostada and not for chip and dips! This was the first Mexican restaurant that we went to that gave us chips that big for our dip! The food was quite good. Their pulled pork was very good and their burrito wasn't the best I've ate but it wasn't the worst either! Their beans were very good!! I got the Chile verde burrito and I just wished it was a bit more spicy! read more

Went here today and all I can say is over priced mids smh, ordered an enchiladas plate (attempted to order one beef and one chicken but my server informed me I couldn't do that which was weird I've never been to a Mexican restaurant that wouldn't let you do 1/1)with rice and damn was i disappointed! Enchiladas barley had any sauce to them and they weren't even served on the same plate lol it reminded me of a wanna he highend cafe rio. read more

Service was great, but the food was not good at all. Kept bringing us chips without telling us that they're not free. Definitely will not be back. read more

I love coming here at all times of the day, but especially weekend brunch. My favorite is the chilaquiles with eggs, served with a margarita of course! The chips are full sized corn tortillas, and go great with the smoky red salsa. Guacamole is made table side, so it's always fresh. They also have a separate vegan and vegetarian menu, and have always been accommodating to different dietary needs. Service is great, and servers are friendly. Patio is lovely for dining, occasionally you can be treated to a concert by a local musician. Free parking is a bonus! read more

Fresh ingredients, fresh flavor, great food. My sever Matt was awesome! The guacamole was good. Vegetarian enchilada was great, wish had little more sauce but I was sold by the fresh flavor. read more

Excellent servers, delicious food! This place is my very favorite, always a great choice!

I am in LOVE with Sonora Grill! My friend and I stopped in a few weeks ago on a Wednesday evening and while they were a little busy, it was totally manageable. Parking was no problem as there are plenty of places in the area you can park for free! Our server was seriously fantastic, too, really accommodating, checked on us frequently, and offered great suggestions so we were totally happy with him. For the food, my friend and I both got the vegetarian quesadillas and a classic margarita and OMG. Nothing could have been any better, truly; we were raving about both food and drink for days afterwards. While not necessarily "hidden", I do this Sonora Grill is totally underrated as we'd never heard of it before we showed up that night. Either way, definitely recommend checking this place out as you will not be disappointed!! read more

Went while visiting the area. The wait was long but worth it!! Got a margarita, we ordered cheese dip (with the chorizo), and fajitas. So good! Staff was super nice too. Will be back next time we're down. read more

We were driving from Ohio to Oregon and drove through Ogden looking for lunch. I found this restaurant online and was very pleased to see they had a huge vegan menu. My daughter and I were both torn between the vegan black bean burrito and the vegan crispy avocado tacos, so we ordered both and split them. The black bean burrito was very good - huge and filling with a generous side of guac. The tacos were unique in a great way! Loved the sauce for them. We got an extra side of rice and beans (comes with tacos but not burrito). With two meals, a Coke, and the rice and beans our total was only $35. We also enjoyed the chips and salsa. Our food came out super quick! I don't imagine I'll be in Utah again but if I am, I'll happily stop here again. So happy we stopped by! read more

Stopped in as we were driving through. Was excellent food! Highly advise a reservation.

I'm just not sure about fancy Mexican food. I mean, you pay prices for food that isn't as good as the Mexican restaurants on the other end of town. I just struggle to justify going here. read more

We are foodies and this is one of our favorite places! Starting with the free chips and salsa--my husband and I love the smoky red and my kids love the limey green. It is hard to save room for your dinner with salsa this good! The Carnitas Norteñas are seriously so delicious! Served with coconut almond rice and pickled onions--yum! Another favorite--the Shrimp Chile Rellano. Cochinita Pibil and taquerias are also good. The only thing lacking is their desserts. But usually we are so stuffed that it doesn't matter anyway. read more

They changed their menu and it's worse - still great food but difficult to see what they were thinking. New owners? New manager had a great idea that flopped? Not sure but with their long history of great times we will give them another shot next time we are in Ogden. Hopefully it was a one night off experience... read more

Decided to give this place another shot after the first experience with bad food. Just like I figured. It is terrible. Nice atmosphere and service but that's about it. I was the only person in the bar area and it took forever to get my food. When it finally came out, half of the food was burnt and the other half had so much seasoning on it that I could only take 2 bites. The bar tender was apologetic and discounted the meal. Honestly I shouldn't have had to pay at all but it's cool. They won't get anymore business from me. I suggest finding a different place to eat Mexican food. read more

I don't say "wow" very often but I did twice tonight and it was all good. The amazing Carne Asada burrito makes other Mexican restaurants look like beginners serving sample plates. We've talked about saving room for dessert before so we ordered the Fried Ice Cream. Presentation. One word isn't enough. It was delicious as well. To top it all off, Renee was a wonderful and attentive server. See you again soon. read more

What a wonderful surprise! I being from California I was so impressed by this Mexican restaurant found unexpectedly in Utah a great find the salsa was outstanding the taquitos were a flavorful delight the food was so great I felt like the chef really had perfected all the flavors of Mexico in a very unique homemade taste so don't drive by get off the freeway and try this outstanding food ! The margaritas rocked as well. read more

We were expecting mediocre Mexican food. But what a surprise, excellent food, and in the middle of Utah. Who knew? We are from the Coachella Valley in Southern California. There is plethora of good Mexican restaurants and the Sonora Grill is as good as 99% of them. We had the avocado salad and the Chile verde burrito. Would I order this again? In a heartbeat. read more

Went back here used to love this place! They charge for salsa now and no longer give you the big round chips.. new chef took over and the place is over priced. Suck a shame. Wont be back and came every time in town .. another one bites the dust read more

Excellent food, but Definitely higher priced. They used to give you complimentary chips and salsa, which made up for it, but last time we went they charged us for them and said they're no longer complimentary. read more

The one thing they need to add is ground is ground beef. Every thing is shredded beef or chicken.

Love this place. The guacamole is amazing. I always get the Chile relleno, never been disappointed.

The restaurant it self is nice. But the food was a little disappointing. The beans and tortillas were store bought. The servers were nice but it is only 3 stars food wise. read more

Not the worst food I've eaten, but not far off. Started off with my son commenting on his raspberry lemonade "I guarantee this is just crystal lite". Queso was overly stringy (nearly impossible to eat) and chips were soaked (literally dripping) in cold oil. Carne asada burrito was 95% peppers/onions with a few SMALL pieces of beef. I actually asked our server if he had inadvertently brought me the vegan option. Worse still is how they nickel and dimed for everything... we got our entrees and realized you have to specify and order sides (rice and beans) separately. It would have been helpful if our server had let us know. My wife summed up the night perfectly... "We would have been better off getting Costa Vida" and she doesn't like Costa Vida. read more

Making reservations for me and my family was super easy. We are looking forward to dinner tonight.

Soooo good, pricy for Mexican food and drinks, so it's a special treat to go.

Amazing! Staff is always friendly and willing to do anything for you. Food great with a wonderful selection. Get a loaded corona and have a fantastic time! read more

I ordered the Vegan Tostada salad. It was a solid meal. Very green/veggie heavy with a black bean layer served with a side of rice. The restaurant serves great chips and salsas complimentary. I ordered the Made Fresh Guac and it was good but I've become accustomed to my spouse's guacamole which is amazing. The Yelp coupon still works for 50% off appetizers. read more

Sonora Grill - Vegan Tostada Salad - Mexican Near Me - Ogden, Utah

It's not that difficult. I walked in at 8:45. They refused to serve me because they close at 9:00. Only takes a couple of brain cells to say that you stay open to sit and SERVE until 9:00 if that's your advertising time to close. If you want to stop serving at 9:00 then close at 9:30. Three very blank stated employees had no idea what I was saying but said they couldn't serve me. Even though they were open. WTF??!!! read more

Pretty good Mexican overall. The lunch specials are good. A chicken taco, beef taco and taquito for under $10. All were quite tasty. Also really like the chips and salsa. read more

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Utah! I'd say I'm quite boujee when it come to food and dining, and this is an amazing place!

This place lacked service and quality food. Waitress came by our table 3x within 5 mins asking if we were ready. We felt rushed. Flautas tasted premade and microwaved. They came out in less than 3 minutes from when I ordered, and I could not order them without cheese. They lacked any semblance of crispness, freshness, or flavor. The beans tasted like the canned Rosarita brand. I questioned whether I just paid $15 for something I could have bought in bulk at Costco, but that would have gave them too much credit. The chips and Salsa were ok, particularly the red salsa. It's important to note that we showed up starving. They also charge you for refills. I can't speak to the rest of the food, but I will not be returning. read more

We love Sonora Grill! We take our family from out of state and they love it too. The food is fresh and unique. The ambiance is incredible. The location is perfect for seeing the lights on 25th street or going to a Weber State game. Our service was impeccable and the hostess during the day is a gem!
