He also gracefully handled many unexpected challenges such as manufacturer defects which required a large delayed re-shipment. He stepped up to help us over the hurdle, taking delivery into his own hands to take some time off the schedule. He even helped calm a neighbor who had been upset about unrelated aspects of our general construction project. We installed an exotic hardwood floor 15 years ago when we moved into our home. As part of our…read morecurrent renovation, we extended the same wood flooring into the new kitchen. We hired an installer that was not able to work within our GC's schedule so we did not have him apply the finish. Instead, we chose another contractor to sand and finish the entire floor, old and new. Unfortunately, that did not go well. First, the staining was entirely wrong, so they had to sand a second time. Then, after they had sanded and applied a coat of finish, we could clearly see how poorly the sanding had turned out with ripples and sanding marks throughout that clearly showed in reflections on the finish. It was depressing. Through a friend, we found Rick at Creative Oak Hardwood Floors and I'm not exaggerating to say he and his crew saved our proverbial butts. Rick has been certified by the National Wood Flooring Association. We first offered to pay him to inspect the situation impartially but once he saw what we were dealing with, he was very empathetic and refused to take payment for the inspection. He was quite thorough and provided us with a report of what had been done incorrectly according to industry standards and best practices. We decided to cancel our contract with the previous finishers and hire Rick, who did an AMAZING job! They needed to sand the finish off once again, but this time it was smoooooth! Rick recommended different products for the stain and finish coats and the results are absolutely beautiful. I would recommend Rick for any type of wood flooring. Although his company name says "Oak", their skills are up to the challenge of any type of wood. Our floor is solid 3/4" thick x 3-1/4" wide Chilean Cherry (actual name Lenge) that has a beautiful grain and took the finish that Rick suggested extremely well, giving the wood depth and a rich golden hue that we are totally pleased with. Our floors went through two unnecessary sandings due to the work done previously, but Rick's crew sanded off only what was necessary and the result is outstanding. In addition, Rick's pricing was quite competitive with about six other flooring contractors we had interviewed along the way. After terrible experiences with two of those others, Rick saved the day. We have also seen floors at another home that he installed and/or finished with excellent results. I can't say enough about Creative Oak Hardwood Floors. I think for us they were an especially good find because of what we'd been through. PS: Rick is a super nice guy, helpful, and available when we needed him by phone, text, or email. I wish I could include before and after photos, but I don't see a way to do that.

I had an initial vision, but Sam really helped me articulate exactly what I had in mind and created an amazing design for my project. He took the time to meet with me on site multiple times and the beautiful design really integrated well with the site and local conditions and would have greatly enhanced my property. He also helped me get in touch with several local builders and solicited initial estimates for the project. Those estimates ended up being above my budget and I decided to delay the build.
