Their installers were top notch. They arrived on time, were incredibly respectful and did a fantastic job. They cleaned everything up beautifully. I have NEVER had a better installation job. My house looks amazing. I am grateful beyond all telling to these wonderful ladies who run this incredible, LOCAL business . It was truly a fantastic experience from the showroom to the installation. Five STARS! Katy Moser

I DO NOT recommend this place for many reasons. The Snap Crackle Pop video…read morehttps://youtu.be/9Zl4Na4wSuA shows the results of their installation of Shaw flooring. These 'pops' do not happen in isolated areas - they are all over every single room in the 1400 sq foot of our upper level. 1 - Rugworks did NOT share recommended manufacturer installation instructions with us. We purchased the wood from them, they delivered it, unpackaged it and did not share 'manufacturer recommended installation instructions'. 2 - They do not appear to be a NWFA installer. The NWFA also recommends glue assist for wide planks of over 5" as shown in this video https://youtu.be/WDsMY_sXfjc The wood that we purchased from Rugworks is well over 5" wide and glue-assist is recommended to prevent the issue that we have in the entire 2nd floor of our home. 3- ZERO post-install customer service, owner would not come to see the issue in person or propose a solution to the problem. 1 - INSTALLATION recommendation - not sharing recommended installation instructions. Rugworks installed an engineered wood floor in July 2020 which should have been glued down in addition to being nailed down due to its width. This was a 'recommendation' of the manufacturer which was NEVER presented as an option by Rugworks. If Rugworks had told us about the 'recommendation' which is also the preferred method recommended by the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) - we would have chosen that installation method. The installation instructions are "For products greater than 5" in width, it is recommended to use a combination glue down assist when using mechanical fasteners" to prevent the wood from moving and causing the problem shown in the video. The wood is 7/16" thick engineered hardwood - SW485 Castlewood Oak - 7.48 inch wide planks - way beyond the 5 inches. Post installation - We noticed that there was a lot of snap/crackle/pop - see video here https://youtu.be/9Zl4Na4wSuA We contacted Rugworks - they assured us that this would subside over 12-18 months. This did not change. We contacted them 12 months later and still have no resolution to this issue. 2 - NWFA certification - Certified installers will share the industry recommended and manufacturer recommended installation instructions. Choose a NWFA installer that reads the install instructions, and will act as a trusted advisor in sharing those with you to ensure that your installation is done to your satisfaction and does not Snap Crackle and Pop with every step. As the seller of the hardwood, and installer - Rugworks should have presented all installation options and did not present the recommended method. 3 - Follow-up customer service and ownership. I contacted their owner Jon Sevenau regarding this issue and invited him to witness the defective installation in person; and he would not come over to see it. He denied that there was any problem with the installation and offered ZERO assistance with any remediation. He mentioned that he was contacting the manufacturer - Shaw Industries - but there was no follow-up on this topic. We had a NWFA inspection and Rugworks had one also - both showed that the flooring issues were because the floor is moving, which it wouldn't be doing if glue assist had been used as recommended by the manufacturer. I would not recommend this place as a result of the issues that you see in this video https://youtu.be/9Zl4Na4wSuA which could have been avoided if they had 1 - told us about the manufacturer recommendation 2 - And, followed the manufacturer recommended method of installation.

Their craftsmanship is top-notch--they pay close attention to detail and clearly take pride in their work. It's obvious they care about the final result and making sure their clients are truly happy, not just "done with the job." John and his team are great communicators and have always been 100% reliable with timing. Georgio (one of John's team members) did my kitchen floor recently - he is very pleasant and trustworthy. Great combination of skill, professionalism, and kindness. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mattie's Hardwood Flooring again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality hardwood floor work.

I called on a Tuesday afternoon to inquire about fixing some buckling in my fixer-upper as my baby is due any day now, and we were running out of time to fix it ourselves. John came over promptly the next morning to assess. He was very honest and compassionate about our situation. Gave us a rough estimate and explained what costs would be should work go beyond the expected scope. He sent Jorge out the following morning to start the work. Of course whoever installed these floors previously didn't do a fantastic job, which created more work for Jorge. Nonetheless, Jorge did everything he could to make everything smooth and seamless (pun intended). He was here longer than anticipated, but we are so happy with the service and glad that the tripping hazard is no more! The invoice was sent over in the next couple of days, EXACTLY as anticipated with the extra hours. So nice that everything was transparent and no curve balls were thrown!!!!! We are extremely happy with how everything went and will definitely be calling John again in the future. John and team are the best!!!! You won't be sorry utilizing them.

Uriah and his team are of that persuasion. Hired them to put in 24 recessed lights and a (very) large ceiling vent in the kitchen. Now that the Holidays are behind us, I can finally write this review. Long story short, we had a…read morepipe break under our main bathroom which also involved sewage. Following the remediation work authorized by the insurance company, we decided that this unfortunate event gave us the opportunity to completely remodel our all original 1961 bathroom. I began looking for contractors and reading the reviews on Yelp. I selected three, two from Yelp and one which was a referral. Uriah, owner of Hawkins Remodeling & Repair, responded quickly to my request and set up a date and time that worked wonderfully with our schedule. He arrived as scheduled and we toured my complete wreck of a bathroom. He took measurements, pictures and we talked all while he took notes of everything including what our vision was. He asked questions and offered suggestions including installing a new bathroom door. Uriah sent back a proposal just a couple days later and while I was still waiting for the last contractor. In the end, we just liked everything Uriah and his company had to offer and selected them for the remodel. We agreed on a start date the Monday following Thanksgiving. Uriah asked if he could come over the on the weekend prior to drop of the dump trailer as the bathroom was going to be gutted with a lot of debris, so this made perfect sense. On Monday, Uriah and his team members, Carlos and Miguel, showed up promptly and right away began working by masking all the carpeted area with plastic sheeting where they would be travelling on. They also set up their 'shop' in our backyard for the duration of the project. Every day I came home to an extensive transformation. We had a lot going on in this little old bathroom including a faux divider wall removed, replacing the window with an obscure double pane window, which I asked for at the last minute. They were also moving electrical outlets and extending the plumbing height to accommodate our new fixtures but more so for all the tall bodies living in our house. They removed our existing cast iron bathtub, preserving it as we were having it refinished, so they removed it entirely so they could reinforce the main beams and redo the subfloor. Do you know how heavy those tubs are? Also, did I mention that this was a 1961 original AND was built on adobe? This means nothing in our home is level! Carlos and Miguel handled every challenge that was thrown their way. Uriah checked in with me on a regular basis and discussed any potential problems or issues that his team discovered and offered suggestions or solutions. It was very refreshing to know they just wanted it done right and for us to be completely satisfied. Near the end, we had the tub resurfaced and no one was allowed in the bathroom for two days following as it needed to cure. I didn't want to lose them for a that time, so I asked Uriah if they could replace our back patio slider, which too was old in need of replacing. He quickly gave me a bid, I accepted, and the team installed a beautiful new patio slider. It should be noted that it was pouring rain too! They came to finish up on the final pieces and what an amazing Christmas gift it was! I can't recommend Hawkins Remodeling & Repair enough. They truly transformed a "beast" into a "beauty". Thank you, Uriah, Carlos, and Miguel (The Hawkins crew)! We look forward to working on another project with you in the future!

I chose him because he presented well in the first meeting, had much attention to detail, gave a better quote than two others, and the scheduled start date worked for me as well. All of the furniture moved out and moved back in was unscathed. He was professional throughout except for one item. In my bedroom there was a 2" by 1" spot by the wood register where the wood floor was a little jagged. It would've been good had he mentioned it to me. Once the sander went over the spot it raised up and got worse. I didn't see it until a week after the job was completed. Peter shared his concern that there may be termite activity but together we checked it and such was not the case. I would've preferred that he alerted me to it initially and warn that the sander could damage it further or tell me that it had happened instead of my finding it later. I understood that he would return to repair it and was willing to pay him but texts to him re this went unanswered. The job is small and will require some time but in the meantime found a small container of the same stain but have not found anyone yet that can/will do the job. Thus the four stars.
