I took the time to arrange an estimate and someone came out here and measured and seemed like a nice person. The problem is I never got the estimate. I called back several days later in inquiring about it, but there was no follow-through. Pretty much a waste of my time and theirs, I guess. I figured they just didn't want this job where I am replacing floor in a 50s house. Six years after installation, we finally dinged one of our engineered vinyl planks badly enough that it needed replacing. We'd kept a box of the planks, originally purchased from Lumber Liquidators but couldn't find a contractor willing to accept such a "small" repair job... After 3-months of polite - or not so polite - refusals, we reached out to Flooring FX in early December. Office Manager Bobbi spoke with me and via email, owner Marcus requested a bunch of information and photos. They issued a reasonable estimate and scheduled an appointment. Bobbi also managed a re-schedule and installer Ozzy arrived this week. He completed the work in 1-hour and cleaned up after himself. The replacement plank was obviously cleaner than the 6-year old surrounding planks, which was understood and after the glue set overnight, this new plank fits pretty much seamlessly into our kitchen floor in Novato (see pic). Marcus and Anthony came to do a Epoxy with black and white flakes also a little grit to make no slip Garage Floor. The job that they did is definitely 5+. They had grind down the old epoxy job that I did 6 years ago that was like walking on Ice when the floor was wet. They spent almost have the day just grinding and vacuuming the floor. Next they applied the gray expiry and then the black and white flakes. They came back the second day to sand then seal the floor. TL;DR - stop here and hire these guys, you'll be happy. Working with Flooring FX was honestly a very smooth and efficient experience from start to finish. They are professional, reliable and they executed high quality work for us. They worked hard to make sure the project was completed on time (early, actually) and at cost. They helped find us movers too! We had Marcus out to look at our predicament - old asbestos tiling throughout the main parts of the house. We evaluated a couple of options, including keeping the tiling down and working over it. After a lot of deliberation, we ultimately decided to remove the tile and put the new engineered hardwood floors down directly on the sub-flooring. Marcus provided expert guidance in figuring out how to safely remove the tiles, and his guys made very quick work on it. The floors went in quickly and they did a *really* nice job on it. We moved into a duplex we renovated without time to take care of the garage floor. The previous tenant had put carpet down in the garage (?) and used an old nasty glue that was impossible to get up with a floor scraper. I can't say enough good things about Marcus and his team. I had what a handy person considered a floor emergency due to a leaking toilet. I had been advised to not use my toilet until it was repaired and the floor could be repaired and replaced, and to expect the job could take up to a week to complete, depending on the extent of the damage. I didn't let my kids bring their friends that weekend due to limited toilet availability, and was looking at lost income in my back vacation rental unit for up to 2 weekends during the high season due to the repair noise. I found Marcus on Yelp and he came out to provide a quote. He immediately assessed that the job was not an emergency, assured me that I could use my toilet, that I had time to select my materials, and that the floor would be replaced in 1-2 days, once I was ready. He also put me on the phone with a master plumber that afternoon to get a second opinion. I felt reassured, and let myself trust in his expertise, which is no easy feat for a control freak. So I used my toilet, took my time to be sure about my materials (did I mention I am also a perfectionist?), and lost no rental income. The job was done in under 1 day, and I *love* my floors. That is what I got when I called a specialist who knows his stuff. Getting a written estimate and scheduling were the biggest challenges, as Marcus is very busy. But Marcus and his team came through with everything as promised on the promised dates. We settled on refinishing our oak hard work (lightened up significantly) and installing a plush salt and pepper carpet that is luxurious! Marcus & his crew at Flooring FX are the real deal. We purchased a home that had nice, solid hardwood flooring in some areas while cheap carpet in others. After dealing with the mismatch and other home projects, we decided to remove all the carpet and replace it with the same hardwood flooring. While it took a bit of legwork to find the exact match for the hardwood, once the flooring was located and secured, Ned and Tony did an amazing job. When the carpet was up, they took the time to screw down the sub flooring and eliminate the various creaks and squeaks that had been noted over time. If you are shopping for a budget friendly quick installation flooring company, stop reading and keep looking. However if you are in the market for high quality professional flooring experts then look no further than Flooring FX. This would be our second experience with hardwood flooring. Our fist go around we went with a budget friendly installation and it was "fine". And by "fine", I mean our floors looked ok, there were some flaws and a few eyesores but it did the trick. We recently moved to a new home in Bennett Valley and really wanted the best possible flooring company. We took several estimates with each installer having a plan. Our situation was unique in that half the house already had hardwood which we decided we wanted to match. We narrowed our choices down to two installation companies. Company "Z" came in with a lower estimate with Flooring FX coming in higher. The difference was Marcus (Owner Flooring FX) identified some cupping and a little discoloration on the older floors. The existing floors are red oak, and over time this is a common occurrence. Company Z felt they did not need to address either issue and that the floors would come out "fine". Company Z also wanted to cut around the stone work around the fireplace, but Flooring FX felt it would be best to lay the wood below the stone. It didn't take long for us to decide that Marcus was the perfect choice and worth a few more dollars. Our team consisted of Paul and Derek who were onsite every day with Marcus overseeing and keeping us updated throughout. Paul and Derek were super nice and approached the install as if they were working on their own home. They were true craftsmen making sure that every single detail was fine tuned. After eight days we saw the finished product and I must say is WOW! I knew Flooring FX would do great work, but they came out even better than I could have ever imagined. Marcus and his team matched the existing and new floors perfectly and there is no way to tell where the old floor end and the new begins. The project took around eight days to complete with another four to dry. We are now moved and our friends and family are thoroughly impressed with the work. I cannot recommend Marcus more.
