We both had Sweet Carolina pulled pork sandwich which came with fries. Fries were very hot but sandwich was not. Waitress got the Mgr which made me a new sandwich. My concern was the deeper I got into sandwich the colder the pork would be. New sandwich came back warmer but still not hot. My unsweetened Tea was excellent but cabbage without dressing is still cabbage. And that is what I got dry cold cabbage with a few chunks of carrots. I guess it is Sonny's official policy to serve to go orders without a spoon or fork and no napkins. First visit here . Wanted something semi healthy and not fried. Late on Sunday evening happy to see them still open. Went through drive thru as soon as I got to the menu the young lady told me to pull around without taking my order There was a car in front of me at the window. I waited about 20 minutes. Then it was my turn . The cashier gave me a total. I explained that I had not ordered anything and I was told to just pull around. She told me her headset was out that is why she told me to pull around and then asked what I wanted . Told her it was my first visit I just wanted a chicken or turkey sandwich if those those meats were left. She placed an order for a turkey sandwich. The order came rather quick. When I got home there were no napkins no condiments. Just a dry sandwich and sliced bread. Disappointed I assumed they would include sauce or at least ask if you want it when bagging your item. The turkey was cold and hard. Waste of $10. Ended up going back out to fast food spot. The young cashier was also placing an order for herself with the cook while I was at the window .."turkey on garlic bread " I bet she remembered her condiments.. good help is hard to find. Yummy BBQ on the run! I was on my way back from Florida and craving some late night grub... I had decided to drive through the night so BBQ seemed like a good comfort food. I ordered the Southern Style BBQ platter with pulled brisket. It was really good.. I just wish they put the sauce directly on the food rather than give you little packets. Those became a pain in the car. And yes.. I know normal people don't eat BBQ in the car, but I had my dog and was willing to make the sacrifice. The Southern Style BBQ Platter comes with corn bread (so yummy that the pooch decided to steal it!) and two sides. Of course I picked the Mac and Cheese and for dessert the cinnamon apples. The people working were so nice they even gave me a to go bowl of ice water for my dog! I will be stopping by again on my next trip to Florida! read more

Firstly, we spotted the sign on the highway and we just had to stop, and I'm glad we did. Our Server was Jabbar and his personality was engaging and welcoming. Substitutions had to be made because I'm so not a Cole slaw person and I hate cinnamon and Jabbar was right there with me lololol. Hubby had the redneck egg rolls which consisted of shredded pork, coleslaw & pepper jack cheese he enjoyed them. I had corn fritters which were good. These didn't come with dipping sauce, I explained I've had them in other places with dipping sauce, and, Jabbar offered me ranch, which to me is gross. The fritters were good. Hubby had a burger and I had the 1/2 chicken plus my baked sweet potato which I enjoyed. sadly, the Mac & cheese was a deal breaker! I waited about 5 minutes before being sited , only 1 waitress, she was nice I love the salad bar for less than 4$ you get dessert and salads like potato surimi salad, pickles , all kinds of vegetables , and dressings , it's a big portion of food pulled pork and brisket I think it was a little bit dry but the corn bread was great and the baked potato also comes with sides and I choose a delicious coleslaw. I love the huge cup of water they serve and overall good I would consider coming back even though there is a odd old dirty carpet smell in the place lol. read more

My family & I visited this location after a local college (FVSU) football game about a month ago. We have visited this location for years, and the service & food was as we've come to expect. The servicer was great: patient and attentive. The food was served quickly. We ordered the Family Feast for 4. I appreciate that you can tailor the meal to your taste i.e. more beef no ribs or two sides of BBQ beans, for example. It also comes with 4 jumbo, refillable drinks. The amount of food was good for the four of us, and we brought home a small doggie bag. We'll definitely visit this location again when we're in the area. read more

While working in Perry, GA the last week of June, I decided to try Sonny's BBQ and I was not disappointed. In fact, it may have been one of the best dinning experiences I've had in a long time. The food was prepared perfectly, served timely and most of all tasted great. Laleh K. did a phenomenal job in serving me. I am somewhat picky in my food prep and she got it correct the first time and properly communicated my order to the cooks. They prepared my food as ordered. Great job Kaleh and staff. I met with the manager, Robert Jones, as I was leaving and realized why everything went so smoothly. It was apparent from the top down every employee understood customer satisfaction and worked together to make it happen. On Thursday at lunch time I encountered a very disturbing situation between the the general manger(Karla) and two great servers(Ashley, Jabarie) that have severed me on serval occasion's in the restaurant. both servers were talking to the family of three at the table and Karla came out of nowhere just yelling and making a scene in front of the customers and instead of talking to them like they are her employee's she took upon herself to talk to them like they were children in front of customers. I understand as a general manger you want your employee's to listen to you and follow rules but that isn't an excuse to be rude to them and in front of customers. She didn't even come back out to apologize to the customer's for how she acted. I hate Ashely and Jabarie had to go through something like that I was embarrassed for them. Life is already stressful as it is and having to work with someone whos in charge like that over you must be an awful feeling. I really hope the owner gets a chance to see this so he can have a talk with that Karla she is a handful! The female taking our order seemed very unaware of the procedures of the restaurant and had trouble answering any of our questions. We waited 20 minutes on only 2 burgers, no toppings, and 1 grilled cheese sandwich. She couldn't even give us an accurate description of the sandwich. We double checked our food because last time we left with no bun. We weren't asked how done we wanted our burgers. They were overcooked, burnt when we got home. The bbq sauce didn't help. I believe our food was much better prepared sitting in and we were better served. I think Sunnys can do better but for what we paid, Sam Nunn has more options. read more

I've loved eating at Sonny's for many years.....my first experience was in Jacksonville FL near 40 years ago..... we've ate Sonny's all over Georgia and Florida many many times, it'a always been a favorite.....but the last few years the quality seems to be declining...... I've probably ate at this location 30 times..... just stopped in yesterday on our way thru town.......it was not good at all, probably the worst meal I've ever had at a Sonny's.....it tasted like processed food, not like fresh food at all..... the only thing decent was the fries......I don't know what you've changed Sonny's, but please go back to your old ways! read more

I am not 100 percent sure this is the Sonny's we actually visited. We stopped in on our trip from Orlando to Nashville. I remember seeing the billboard, we were somewhere south of Macon and we were hungry. After viewing the map of all the restaurants and judging by this location's proximity to both Macon and I-75, I am "fairly" certain this is the right one. Anyway, the bottom line is that the food and service here were both great. I remember getting takeout from the location in Cape Canaveral about four years ago and really enjoying it. Despite that fact, I was a little apprehensive because it is technically a chain and considering the amount of BBQ I have consumed over the years, I expected to be disappointed. No need to worry. We ordered the Family Feast for the four of us, under the assumption we may have some leftovers to take with us. I'll say! We barely finished half of the aptly-named Feast. The portions were huge and everything was well-prepared. My favorite was the brisket. It was very tender, full of flavor and not overly-smokey as some brisket is. The ribs and pulled pork were almost as good. My only complaint was that the chicken was a little dry. Overcooked, I think. But still tasty and my boys liked it. The sides were all great. We tried the baked beans, corn on the cob, crinkle fries, garlic bread and cornbread. Everything was fresh and hot and the portions on the sides were also huge. The sweet tea was also some of the best I have ever had and again a huge portion. For flavor, attentive, yet relaxed service and excellent value, I highly recommend one of the many Sonny's BBQ restaurants throughout Florida and Georgia. read more

Carried a few out of town friends there. Party of six. Seated quickly. Waitress did not know what draft beer they served. Most ordered pulled pork. When food arrived, al.ost every plate was maybe up to room temperature. Certainly not hot or warm. Since we couldn't find our waitress, we asked up front for a manager. A guy came to the table and offered to remake our orders or give us 50% off our bills. We chose the latter as we had been there too long. Waitress brought our bills and no discount. Visited the restaurant for the first time since the restrictions of Covid-19. I used to eat here regularly for the salad bar and was disappointed to discover that it has been discontinued. The entire restaurant has been give a much needed facelift snd the old dingy carpet is gone. The place now has a bar and the updates appear to give it the feel of an old fashioned bbq joint. With salad bar gone i ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and was very pleased. They could have dressed it up a little by offering lettuce and tomatoes or other toppings but overall the quality and taste of the sandwich was good. I'm hoping for a return of the salad bar but overall I was very pleased with the service, food quality and cleanliness of this Sonny's. A small addition/option like offering to dress up the sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, onions or an additional side could have gotten this five stars. read more

Stopped at this Sonny's while traveling home from a family vacation in Florida. We have eaten at a lot of Sonny's (3 in the past 6 weeks) and this was, by far, the best in every respect. There was about a 15 min wait at a little after 1pm on a Saturday so my husband and I sat at the bar. We were greeted promptly by a friendly lady. She took our drink orders and after bringing our drinks, took our food order. 4 others sat at the bar the same time we did so I figured it would be a few extra mins for the food to arrive. Happily, the food arrived in a normal amount of time. The portion was SO much better than we have been getting at the other Sonny's, the flavor was good and the temp of the meat and sides was hot. The best part, the server was attentive but not pushy and we were back on the road in 25 mins, from start to finish. Great job to this Sonny's for exceeding expectations and getting Sonny's back to what we used to love before some corporate changes a few years ago! read more

Food was fast, server was on top of everything, salad bar was stocked, FOH staff was sitting everyone quickly, our food was delicious and hot, and the manager was up front checking tables and troubleshooting.
