Went to get a milkshake because I have always heard they are supposed to be amazing. I ordered a mint chocolate chip. First of all when I got to the window everyone inside was playing around. Came here with a bus and we all filled into imaginary cars and ordered. They served the food VERY quickly and the food served my taste buds!

I'm actually waiting in my car right now. I waited for over 10 minutes after placing my order until she came out to deliver my food. The car hop was very nice, however, my shake looks like they decided to smear whatever was in the kitchen all over the cup. I asked for a napkin to clean the cup before putting it I my cup holder. She had one crumpled up napkin. I attempted to clean the cup and the greasy grime just didn't come off. I asked if she could get me a new cup to set this one in. My popcorn chicken is cold, but at this point I am ready to go. I should have known when I used the restroom when I first got here to run away from here and not order food. I have been happy with other Sonics but this one is just plain old gross. Still waiting on my shake, and as I typed that I hear her tell the car next to me that their shake machine is down... What a disappointment. Never tried this place but ads seemed kind of fun so on the way home from the beach we saw the sign and thought "Why not?" Classic American Drive-in with lots of food choice and great shakes, right? What's not to love?! Then we arrive. Dirty Parking lot covered in detritus and cigarette butts. Pull into one of the consoles. Decide to Get out and go to the bathroom. Hubby comes out "Well, that was a vile experience." Couldn't agree more. Just made us want to leave. So we did. Sorry, Sonic. The food was good if you like average cheeseburgers, hot dogs and fries - there are competitors who never freeze their beef who do this better. However, the service was fast and the limeades and slushes were the best I have ever had at any Sonic - this was enough to bump the rating up a star. read more

I would recommend not wasting your time. I just came back from there. The people working there could not get my order right to save their life. I asked for a chocolate shake for my friend and for myself a blue lagoon. I must have said blue lagoon 4 times when I got to the window they asked if I ordered burgers and hot dogs. Well they got the chocolate milkshake for my friend but they gave me an ice cream cone. When I told them that I ordered a blue lagoon, they start fighting with me and telling me I didn't order that. Finally they indignantly gave me my blue lagoon. I always try to be a good customer but...I just wanted my blue lagoon. And if it was just me I'd shut up but the two customers ahead of us had the same problem but with different orders.To be somewhat kind I will give them two stars because the blue lagoon was actually pretty good and my friend enjoyed his milkshake. If you can find a 7-Eleven somewhere, you should probably go there instead though, they'll treat you better. read more

This particular sonic always has an issue with wait time. Typically it takes about 15 min to get food (on a good day) and I have in the past waited upwards of 25 min for a soda. But the food is decent and the drinks always excellent. Today, however, the food was awful. The fries were greasy and room temperature and my chicken sandwich had old, wilted, slimy, brown lettuce on it. It was truly gross. I have made a point in the past of only getting my drink at sonic and getting my food somewhere else...and I think I'm going to return to that. read more

Sonic is usually pretty good but this one is really disappointing. We wanted some refreshments after a day at Busch Gardens, so we went a couple miles off the highway to get some slushes and hot dogs. The employee taking our order seemed to be having some trouble, so we repeated it and she seemed a little annoyed, but our order was wrong anyway. That is, when it finally came out after waiting 10-15 minutes. One of the hot dogs had the wrong toppings, and two of the slushes were smaller than what we ordered. Also, the lemon slushes at every other Sonic I've been to are delicious and taste like real, fresh lemon, but these were gross, like old Minute Maid flavor. I've been to many Sonic locations and have never had a bad experience until today. Pull in to find less than half the stalls filled. Pushed the button to order, and waited 8 minutes with no answer while I watched someone else pull up, press their button and have an answer right away. Finally got tired of the wait so drove to the drive through. I started asking for a chocolate shake, and was asked if it was chocolate or vanilla. Then asked for a corn dog, and was asked if it was a corn dog or hot dog. After getting asked questions like this for the fifth item I just had to leave. I downloaded the app and placed an order. Their expectation of my arrival time was preposterous. System knows from where you are placing the order. I pressed the "I'm here" on the app. I ordered chicken sandwich, beverage & ordered the new Reese's overload waffle cone. The cone which was brought to the car by a gloved young lady was melted, lopsided and was dripping ferociously. I said 'wow glad I brought a container to put it in.' There is no excuse to give a customer such a poorly made food item. She just chuckled. The cone looked nothing like the cone on the commercial. Five pieces of Reece's pieces on the side of the leaning dripping blob of vanilla ice cream with a dab of peanut butter inside the cone. Big whoop. Too expensive for what I received. Benefit of using the app is paying in advance to lessen contact with server and getting half price beverage. Beverage prices for soft drinks are way too high also. read more

Well we decided to stop by and grab a quick dinner as a family. We pulled into the car side service hit the button no response for several minutes. Now just to set the picture there is maybe 4 other cars in the car side service and nobody in the drive-thru. So we hit the button again another couple minutes go by and no response. We go to the open drive-thru immediately get a person on the intercom but it take forever to place our order. I mean we have to go over each meal several times and they still didn't get it right so when we pull up to the window to pay we wait because they say they are fixing the bill. We pay and our food and it's not ready. So we're told to pull up and wait which we do. We sit for about another 20 minutes. Food comes out and we are still missing a drink. Finally get our drinks and head off down the road. Food was just okay but terrible service. read more

TOTS!!! As in tater tots. I could write a review just on their tots. We went there for breakfast after spotting it on the way to Pierce's Pitt B-B-Q and ended up coming back. Breakfast was better than dinner-- hotter, fresher--but the colder, less crispy dinner tots were still good. The Sonic version was more like a mashed potato-hash brown hybrid rather than being more like a lump of just hash brown, which is fine by me. The creamy mashed potato center and crispy diced potato exterior pretty much sums up my ideal food texture combination. For breakfast we also ordered the SuperSonic Breakfast Burrito (Sausage, onions, jalapenos, eggs, and tots) and the Steak and Egg Burrito, the steak being similar to the kind you'd get on McD's steak and egg breakfast sandwich, which also had tots (did it have cheese too? I inhaled it and didn't pay enough attention to the menu). I liked both. Probably liked them better than all other fast food chain breakfasts I've had. Their orange juice and cranberry juice was what anyone can expect. On the way back, we wished we had ordered another of the tots. Later we ordered extra tots, a Jr. Fritos Chili Cheese Wrap, a Bacon Cheeseburger TOASTER sandwich, a Sonic Burger, and another SuperSonic Breakfast Burrito, which is a lot to order, but I'll do that sometimes since I like tasting a variety of things at places I don't come across often (apparently the closest ones are in Pennsylvania or Delaware). The Fritos Chili Cheese wrap was too salty to eat. I was disappointed with the TOASTER too because there was no onion ring in it like it was supposed to. I wouldn't really blame Sonic as much as the night-shift management. The burgers aren't really newsworthy so if I get the chance to go again, I'd probably aim for another breakfast burrito. The breakfast burrito was colder as I'd mentioned earlier, but it still tasted good. We ordered a limeade and a watermelon Sprite and they tasted like candy. I do like that you can add flavors to your drinks and I really like the small ice they use since I'm a cruncher and the smaller ones weren't as hard on my teeth as regular ice cubes. Service at breakfast was considerably more friendly than dinner. At dinner, the guy seemed like he mostly just cared about getting his tip, not asking if we needed ketchup like the nice girl at breakfast. We even ordered ketchup at dinner and it didn't come with the order. There is a little bit of a wait compared to other drive-ins but I didn't really mind. It's about the same as when I get Chinese. I don't know, it's probably just me but I had a little trouble figuring out the whole car-hop comes out to you deal. I kind of wish the place came with directions because I didn't know if after ordering, you were supposed to drive around to a window or something and after waiting a bit for the food to come out, I had that nervous moment of thinking I had done it the wrong way. Shrugs. Anyways, I like their tots and the burritos that have their tots in them. Service is alright, if not inconsistent (but I sort of expect that with fast food anyways). Since it's off of 64, if you're heading north after visiting Busch Gardens, you might consider dropping by since it's one of the few places that open late. read more

Seriously didn't want to give Sonic 2 stars but they left me no choice. The two stars are solely for the food. My mozzarella sticks were pretty tasty. We went there two days this week and was overcharged both times. We asked the lady if we could substitute mozzarella sticks for my fries and she told me that I could. Same thing with another meal but onion rings instead of fries and she also said yes. We also got shakes and iced tea. When we went up to the window to pay, she told us our total was $34 and some change. Since it was only three of us we were puzzled as to why it cost so much. We checked our bill and she charged us separate for the mozzarella sticks and onion rings which were almost $6 each for a large. We told the lady that we were charged separately for the mozzarella sticks and onion rings since she said we could substitute them, then she caught an attitude and said that we couldn't do that. She clearly told us through the speaker box thing that we could! We were hungry and frustrated so we just paid and left. Never again will I go back to this Sonic. They really need to train their employees better. read more

We stop by here every time we come to the area since its cheap and close to the hotels. Its fast food so to the other reviewers comparing it to places like Pierces (which is a sad excuse for a BBQ place anyway) is pretty pointless. Sonic is what it is, fast food, but better than the other fast food in the area. Honestly it puts some of the independent restaurants around here to shame as well but that's to be expected, they cant all be winners. Anyway the service is usually pretty quick, staff is nice, drive through can be slow but waiting a few minutes for fresh food wont kill you. This is one isnt particularly packed compared to the others in the area but most of the tourists have no idea it exists. Anyway its just fast food but if you need a good meal fast its worth stopping by, sure beats McDonalds. read more

the manager needs to give his people training on how to use an intercom. the idiot that took our order could not complete a sentence without letting off the button and I could not understand anything he said. had him repeat himself several times every time he said something. he naturally had the order wrong and we had to get them back to the car several times. I recommend Sonic but I would say that until the manager or some one there making more than minimum wage takes the time to teach their folks how to communicate and use the equipment then I would avoid this place. read more
