Ok do you like fast food? I do from time to time and this place is tops in my book. I haven't been to one since I left the South. I was delighted to see they still have the 50's style drive up service. No one skated up to the car but the young lady was very nice. I had a chili dog and onion rings. Yes I know a death meal but so delicious. I finished it with a oreo swirl which ids like Dairy Queen's blizzard but much more delicious with this awesome whip cream on top. Sonic really is only thing I miss after moving to Chicago from South Carolina. I remember in high school, kids were in car, eating Sonic, and dancing with the radio on after finishing shopping at the local mall. I would say kids back in the days were way more innocent and truly enjoyed the simple life like what food has provided for us. We just missed the happy hours (everyday from 2pm to 5pm), but hubby is thirsty. Apparently, my hubby's orange slushy was gone in ten (10) minutes, but my green apple slushy was just, essentially, "stagnant." It wasn't really a problem except I couldn't actually drink it until one (1) hour later. The service was super, super fast. What I love is Sonic is that you can sit in your car stall, look at the menu, and feel no pressure at deciding what you wanna order. Until you're ready, press the bottom, and wait for your food to come out. I wish there's more locations in the city. read more

I have been waiting with baited breath like so many other people for a Sonic to open in the Chicagoland area. I became addicted to Sonic while I attended the University of Illnois and it has become my favorite fast food chain. While this particular Sonic is not as good as the ones in Champaign, it is pretty close. My only problem is that they didn't put a lime wedge and cherry in my cherry limeade. All in all, I am really happy that when my wife wants to go to the outlet mall, I now have a reason to take her. LOL. read more

I'm new to Sonic, but it seems like they need to get their act together a little. I ordered a chicken sandwich on Texas Toast. It took them 10 minutes of me waiting at the drive-through window with my melting chocolate shake and no explanation. A long line embarrassing gathered around me as I wait for my measly sandwich. Anything, even a "Hey, it's taking a while for _____ reason, could you park over there and we'll bring it out to you" classic response would have been appreciated. Instead, they walked out and handed food to the people behind me, as I was left to wonder how a simple sandwich was taking forever. The sandwich, of course, was delicious. The food comes out fairly fast and always hot, but it's Sonic. It's not exactly the best food I've ever eaten. It will do if you don't feel like cooking and don't feel like going to Naperville or Batavia to get your fast food kick. We used to do Sonic at least twice when visiting the In Laws in Missouri, so I was rather excited that we were getting one out here. We made the trip to the Aurora location the weekend after they opened. BIg mistake. Sat in the car for over an hour waiting. I don't know if it's me, but it didn't taste the same out here as it did in Missouri. The burger tasted different. There's one by our house now in Bartlett, which we visited last night. I went with the Chicken Club toaster, it was pretty good. The cheese fries are decent as well. Sonic is okay, I've had better, I've had worse. Waited years for a Sonic to open in the area so I was really happy when we got the first one right here in Aurora. Over the years this location has really improved. I really like that they made the outdoor patio indoors. Makes a lot more sense in this climate where it is either hot or freezing cold. Nice to know now I can go to sonic in the winter and not have to eat in my car. The drive in is fun but I prefer to eat inside. Another major plus about sonic is all the drink flavors they have. The ocean water being my personal favorite. You can also get these flavors in a slush which is great on a hot day. The burgers and fries are also great to pack on those pounds. Over all a great place to go. Kids will love the car hops. Oh ya and don't be a cheapo tip your car hop!!! read more

Honestly stood in line that had 1 couple in front of us, for 30 minutes without being acknowledged. After 30 minutes he waved at us, we continued to stand there for 10 more minutes and then decided to leave because we still weren't served. I will never go back. read more

I went to Sonic after a trip to the outlet mall and I was very excited, but also very let down. The service was good (1 star) and the drinks were good (1 star). The rest was crap. The double cheeseburger was not very good at all and was a mushy mess. The onion rings had a displeasing sweet taste to them and they were falling apart. And finally the tater tots were very greasy and almost see thru. The grape slush was very good and was half price during a happy hour 2-4pm. I know eveyone sees the commercials and feels they need to stop in but I would recommend you wait until one pops up near you or if you are in the area. We've been there twice after 8:00PM for their half-price milk shakes. Both times they could have blended them longer. We had the Oreo cookie crumble was almost all at the bottom of the cup. I would give this place a zero if i could! I have to say I've never been so shocked to see a business so poorly operated! first things first, the employees swear at each others in public. One employee was dropping the f-bomb at a manager and flicking him off through a window. Other employees encouraged him to attack the manager physically making the situation far worse. as far as food service goes...They forgot to make my drink order completely!! My friends and I waited 30 mins for their food which came out cold, then we had to wait another 30 mins for my drink to come out. In order for me to get my drink made I had to speak to two employees who listened to me then walked away without giving me a response or a course of action. I was finally able to get my drink after i spoke to a manager who threw the drink at me and ran off!!! one last note on the food service, the employees were making their own meals and eating them while at least one dozen customers waited for their food to get made or re-made due to errors. This was very unprofessional by the restaurant employees and the management. My drink was horrible!!! there were at least 20 lemon seeds in my lemon-berry crush to make matters worse they hardly mixed the drink so there were huge chunks of berry pulp and ice cream...it was really undrinkable. My friend's drink was even worse than mine he found a tater tot in his and almost threw up! I pulled into Sonic on July 28th with my daughters in tow, looking for some milkshakes or something delicious on the menu. The girls (ages 11,9) both got the chocolate shake and I ordered a Butterfinger/Peanut Butter concrete, all size mini. I loved that I could order when we were ready via the red button and then pay right there. We all loved our treats, which arrived promptly and politely. The most memorable part of the visit came from a few stalls down where another customer was very loudly dictating his order into the microphone, not being satisfied with the service, starting over, and even more loudly repeating his order. He then asked, twice, if the banana ingredient in one of the treats was actual banana or some kind of syrup. Not sure if the person on the other end of the mic was confused or did not otherwise understand, but the customer again repeated, very loudly, his question. His frustration then mounted to the point where he again repeated his order, now shouting, and then stating, and I quote, "You've got five seconds to get it right before I go someplace else!". I would say he made it about 1.5 seconds before throwing his truck into reverse and leaving. Kudos to the employee on the other end keeping calm and not letting this horrible person get to them. You can tell a lot about a person by how he or she treats someone in a subordinate role, but if you're sixty years old and treat people like trash, you're probably going to die a very miserable human being. Worst service ever. Their drive through headset never works so everything is always broken up (no wonder people keep getting wrong orders) and it's been that way for as long as I can remember! I'm usually missing at least one thing from my order each time. Tonight the girl didn't give me my drink and as I sat in the drive through waiting she came back to the window with a "what do you need". Apparently they don't want business. Just left there without even getting a chance to order. We just wanted ice cream for our daughter and her friend so we went in. I tried ordering on the computer but had a question. Pressed the "ask a car hop" several times and watched the employees on their phones ignore us. After 5 mins we saw a lady who then waves at us. I knocked on the window and she smiled and waved us away. We said, can you help us?? But no help and at that point, didn't even want to order. All the employees were standing around doing nothing. We stopped in for a couple of drinks, and added an order of popcorn chicken since we were there. It was after 1 on a Monday, but was rather busy since it was Labor Day. That being said, 20min after we ordered we finally hit the order button again and asked where it was. They asked what we ordered again, and said it would be right out. 10 more min go by and finally someone brings out our drinks and chicken. And they still charged us full price. I asked the kid to send a manager out to us. When he showed up, he showed no concern. I asked if our order was given to someone else and he immediately responded no, just to turn around explain how our order had been mixed up in confusion and given to someone else. Went there about a week after it opened at about 10:30 at night, and to my surprise almost every car spot was taken, and the drive-thru was around the building. We waited in line for the drive-thru, and I ended up getting the deep fried ice cream milkshake which was awesome. My friend got a smoothie and she liked it a lot also. I'm so happy sonic is finally here! And to the 2 previous posts, cut them a little slack will ya. These are BRAND NEW employees, some probably have never seen a sonic menu before because there's none around here to train them on.
