This is a great local coffee shop! The name is short for Sonnie's Bits and Bobs (cute!). The coffee was very reasonable and good. We didn't try her "bits and bobs" as we already had a huge brunch before, but she was baking cookies that smelled AMAZING. The venue is really relaxing and cozy, and a great place to catch up with a friend or read. There's games/books out and eclectic items for sale too. This is a great addition to the community and I look forward to going back. read more

Sonbobs is magical! They have an ever-changing menu of treats that are always phenomenal. The peach cake and strawberry cake are probably my favorites but I've had many delicious things. I've also had the chicken soup which was truly good for my soul on a rainy, dreary quarantine day. Sonnie, the owner, is kind and friendly, and so are the other staff members I have encountered. sonbobs is a new little coffee / tea / dessert spot in Astoria. It's run by a very sweet woman named Sonnie who also sells jewelry and other things like wallets and purses. Some of the jewelry is made by Sonnie herself! As her business card says... "Sonnie's bits and bobs, bippity, boppity, boo" The place itself is small but very comfortable. It has a couch with lots of pillows, and a variety of other places to sit. As far as the food and coffee - I've had regular coffee there and it was very good, and I had her lemon tart which was delicious, and also a lovely oatmeal cookie. She always has things for customers to try as well, and I tried her Bulleit Bourbon truffles which were AMAAAzing! This is a great little community neighborhood spot. read more

Excellent cafe! Sonnie (pronounced Sah-nee) has a nice selection of gourmet teas and gives a discount for bringing your own mug. I bought a gluten free cookie, and she gave me a 2nd one for free simply because they were a day old, but I would have never known if she hadn't told me. And... drumroll...the cookies were delicious! Not to mention that the cookies didn't crumble when I bit them, which is unusual for gluten free. Also, I love the simplistic yet elegant atmosphere. When I think of Sonbobs, I think of home. Sonnie has the best coffee in town, and along with Jess, they make the best baked goods too. The lunches are out of this world. I've been going to Sonbobs for the past couple of years, and what started as the place I stopped by to grab coffee while doing laundry, became the place I hung out at for hours talking to other 'Bobsters' who started as strangers and have become friends. My other friends, who live all over Astoria, have started to make the far walking trip to Sonbobs every weekend. We've even affectionally renamed Sunday, 'Sonday'. Sonnie has paid every attention to detail during COVID and made sure the shop stays cleans and safe, and only allows 3 people in at a time to order to ensure customer safety. The open mic, run by Jess features the most loving and supportive group of musicians of all levels of talents and still happens monthly on Zoom. If you want good service, out of this world coffee and food, and wonderful conversation, head to Sonbobs. It's the magical place you only see in Stars Hollow. And we are so lucky to have it in Astoria. read more

Inexpensive(thanks!), homemade, good sandwiches and sweets(not too sweet!), good coffee and tea by Sonnie. open alway, 8-8, 7 days. 28th Ave will be new popular street in Astoria, where is mellow and less crowded comparing 30th ave and/or Broadway. Sonnie,the owner, has a truly wonderful energy about her. Her coffee shop really feels like my real "home". Unlike anywhere else I've experienced in NYC in the last three years, SonBobs is the only place where I've made meaningful friendships with people, including Sonnie, who care about my well-being - so much so that I decided to not move to Austin and stay in NYC instead. She also made me a special ginger tea with real ginger root, my favorite. There is an artistic and spiritual vibe there that I haven't felt elsewhere in NYC. Love it! read more
