Every time I go to Southcenter Mall, I'm always tempted to go here and indulge in some ice cream and sweets. This particular visit wasn't my favorite, though. As part of the SEVENTEEN collab that was going on, I went with friends from LA to get their ice cream desserts here, which is located inside Southcenter Mall not too far off from Macy's and Bath & Body Works. They serve ice cream with a taiyaki fish, or by itself (among other choices). This is an outside place within the mall, so no word on service here, and ambience is basically tied with the mall: bustling with people and overly noisy. I got the ube and honeydew swirl as my ice cream base as part of the collab and... oh boy the mixture didn't turn out very well. I did request this as a taiyaki with a custard filling which was very well done and the filling was tasty, but the honeydew ice cream overpowered the entire thing. I ended up eating every part of the dessert but the honeydew ice cream. This isn't to say that the place isn't good; many of my previous visits were met with delicious ice cream and taiyaki of various fillings that worked no matter how I paired it, and fully worthy of a 5-star review. This particular pairing just didn't work for me.
Right off the bat; server was rude. She was not engaging with any customers on the line and ignored me when I said excuse me to get her attention. When finished ordering she got annoyed cause my cousin couldn't hear her say what toppings on her icecream. She sucked her teeth instead. We ordered 4 ice creams and when it came to the milk soft serve she "ran out" it was the height of the cup itself.. which was like half. I asked her if she can fill the rest with matcha flavor soft serve instead? She said we can't mix flavors. I then had to insist that we paid full price for her to give us half? Then she gave us another cup of matcha soft serve after being annoyed. She basically slid the cup across the counter and said take this one then; without giving a spoon or nothing; then continued to work on other orders. All issues aside the ube soft serve was sooo good and my personal favorite. The matcha was creamy but not much tea flavor.
Conveniently located in the middle of Southcenter Mall and everything is made to order. With that said, there is a wait for your order as they make them fresh. The kids love seeing how their tayaki is made. I love the red bean and my kids love the Nutella tayaki. We also enjoyed their soft serve items.
Ever since the Hawaii location closed, I always like to stop by in Washington or California but this is my least favorite location. The taiyaki and soft serve are consistent with the other locations but the employees here are horrible. They always seem like they're in a bad mood even when asked simple questions. We were there over an hour before closing and they stopped making taiyakis which was a disappointment as well. Overall I like the ice cream but the service really needs improvement.
Located across B&BW and Pop Mart at the Southcenter Mall. They have taiyakis and soft serve ice creams. I got the matcha soft serve with Oreo and macaron. I don't think there was lactose milk because the menu didn't say it compared to other flavors which is a plus! Tasty and great price (~$4.95 for soft serve in a cup). The portions are smaller than before if you look at my old pic which was the matcha & Ube swirl. My brother got two taiyakis for $4.99 and he said it was also good. They make it to order so it was fresh and warm. They offer a variety of taiyaki fillings as well!

I first tried SOMISOMI in Las Vegas a few years ago and FINALLY made the time to stop by Southcenter to try it locally! There was quite a few people outside of SOMISOMI, but it seemed like it was fast service. Customers have the ability to order with the self-ordering screen, or with a staff member. I am glad SOMISOMI is located in a spot that isn't so crowded in the mall. My sister and I each ordered our own Upside Down Ahboong. I went with the ube soft serve flavor with custard filling for the taiyaki. My sister decided on the matcha and milk swirl soft serve flavor with Nutella filling in her taiyaki. When that part is ready, you are able to add your choice of any topping and a choice between a macaron or fresh strawberry. I love soft serves and the soft serve here is so good! It doesn't melt immediately. We were able to walk back to our car and it still hadn't begun to become a melting mess. It's just the right amount of sweetness as a little treat!

The workers and service there was fine, given it was near the end of the night. The location is inside the mall and had a nice vibe to it.

Somi Somi has quite a few fun soft serve flavors with plenty of toppings, so you can truly customize your dessert. You can also decide how your dessert comes! Service was a bit slower than I expected, especially when seeing three people working; I was the only person who had ordered. But, it wasn't a big deal (except for the fact that when my I got my ice cream, it had already begun melting). The ice cream itself was great though! Although I do think it is a bit overrated, I wouldn't mind stopping here again if I was shopping.

I loved that you could customize the filling somewhat and that they had deals for 2 or 5 piece sets. They had a decent number of fillings. The server was polite and friendly. It did take a while of ours to come out, but it seemed like perhaps with just one person working, they had to do each order one by one. I'm glad there's a cute spot like this in the mall now to grab a snack!
Somisomi has delicious soft serve and very yummy taiyaki. Unfortunately they were out of strawberry ice cream and milk the day I came, which was a tad bit disappointing as that's what I was in search of. So I pivoted to chocolate ice cream with crushed Oreos and graham crackers as my toppings. The taiyaki was custard filled and absolutely delicious! Definitely a great place to try if you're in the mode for a delicious dessert
Silky. Smooth. Creamy. Just sweet enough. Perfect in very sense. The soft serve dreams are made of with Asian flavors that are not overly sweet. My recommendation is to do the upside down abhoong. Having the cup allows you to eat it at your convenience and not worry about it melting on your hands. I have always been told I'm an extremely fast ice cream eater but something about this treat makes you really want to slow down and savor the creamy goodness. The Taiyaki is made fresh and delicious by itself but I love mine filled with custard or red bean. Nutella if I'm feeling like I need extra sweetness. As for toppings, Fruity pebble goes so well with the taro and coconut flakes goes extremely well with taro and or matcha as well. The customer service here is great. Staff is always ina good mood and helpful.
My family and I love Somisomi. After dinner that was a total let down we decided to find dessert near our hotel. Somisomi came up and I knew they had the new peach flavor so we decided to head over. We walked in the mall and found Somisomi. I went to the register to order and the girl behind the counter told me she wouldn't take my order and I needed to use the self serve kiosk, I told her I'd wait and would prefer she took my order. She told me I had to order on the kiosk. As soon as I started ordering someone came up behind me and she offered to take their order. I was irritated to say the least. I was ordering 3 ice creams and taiyaki to go. I knew she would have been faster taking my order them me trying to figure it out. During that time, she took a few people's orders and then started working on their orders, so I stood there for quite some time until she would start my order. This really irritated me since she could have just taken my order and it would have been much quicker and I wouldn't have had to wait near as long. BTW I'm usually a self check-out girl, I normally prefer it, but for something that I knew would be faster with an employee I wanted an actual person taking my order. The ice cream was good, as always with Somisomi. I did not appreciate the lack of service. I've been to at least 4 other locations is southern California and never had an experience like this. read more
I've tried the Bellevue and southcenter location and I will never pass on SomiSomi, I will always buy something from there! Though I am severely lactose, I'm always down to get something from there so you know it's that good if I'm risking myself every time _ The servers are quick to make your food especially if they aren't too busy, but if they are you would just wait a couple minutes which is fine by me. The ambiance of the place seems ok, there's not too much to really look at except for the workers making the food. read more
This is the third Somisomi location I have visited and I will say the staff here are the most friendly so far. Also when I was paying, the person that rang me up skipped past the tips section so I couldn't even tip them. Maybe they no longer accept tips from customers. Their service was great even though they were not expecting tips from me. As obvious as this should be everywhere, I thought it was worth noting! The ambiance isn't all that great here since it's inside of a mall food court but it was pretty clean and well maintained, I would say. Today, I ordered the cold brew float with cookies and cream soft serve and it was a nice pick-me-up! I recommend letting the soft serve melt a bit before consuming the cold brew. I took a bite of ny daughter's matcha soft serve and it was excellent as well. The prices aren't cheap but not as ridiculous as some other boba tea or dessert places. read more

We dropped by SomiSomi an hour before closing tonight. The employee who took our order was nice and we got the cookies and cream, taiyaki with Nutella filling and cocoa crispies on top. There was a group in front of us but the wait was very short. You have the choice of two toppings and a macron to add to your soft serve. It was so delicious that not a drop went to waste. The taiyaki fish filled with Nutella was really the star of the show. They have several standard flavors and 3 rotating flavors (usually two swirled together). It's 6.95 for what we got and was a real treat. read more

My first time trying it was in California and enjoyed the unique flavour combinations, but didn't like how it was so messy because it melted too quickly. I tried it again back in Washington when it was newly opened. It's much colder here, but still, it melted way too quickly. It soon became a soupy messy and the cup was way too small to contain the liquid. The ice cream itself was a little too sweet for me. The taiyaki was nice, crispy and not too sweet-- nice balance to the ice cream. Pictured are the ube and cookies and cream swirl & milk tea and matcha swirl. Staff were still learning so service was a bit slow and they were a little shy. But they tried and were quite sweet. read more
Located in Southcenter Mall below the food court, I anticipated long lines but was pleasantly surprised when there wasn't a large group of people waiting for their dessert. This seems to be the norm so far from what I've read on other reviews or heard from my friends. I'm not complaining though that just means I don't have to wait as long. Of course, I had to order the Ah Boong - a fish waffle cone that includes a unique filling, soft serve, and toppings! Somi Somi has SO many unique flavors and combinations including thai tea and matcha, but I went with a classic ube soft serve and custard filling. I'm no ice cream connoisseur but I personally thought it was so smooth and delicious! The ube flavor was strong yet not overwhelming or too sweet, and the fish taiyaki had a soft and chewy texture to it! I've had a few other taiyaki in the area and they're normally on the dry side, but somi somi does a great job of keeping it moist! I'm honestly surprised they're not as hyped up as I expected, but again it makes it better for me to go back and try all the other flavors! read more

Walking in mall with my husband. Need some treats. So decided trying in this place. Very friendly staff. Ordered two taiyaki,one with red bean,one with matcha. Very delicious,fresh,chewy. Cool place. Very good price,two for 4.95. Definitely recommend. read more
Grand opening - buy 1 ah boong get 1 taiyaki (of random flavor) free. Ends 8/21/2022. My first time trying this place was back in California - all the craze for taiyaki + soft serve. They are prepared for very long lines, many dividers to crowd control, in preparation for the weekend, but there was no line when I went Friday afternoon. I got the ah boong which is the taiyaki cone with filling of choice (I got the Nutella) with soft serve (which I got the swirl - pink guava and ube). There's the upside down ah boong which I probably should have gotten as it is less messy - a cup of soft serve plus taiyaki). I liked the soft serve in general - not really anything spectacular but it is good for a filling dessert. When you place the order, you also get a free topping(s) and a fresh strawberry if you please. The taiyaki made separately was custard filling, which is good but the batter was a little bit mushy. The custard did not really have much flavor aside from the consistency, so I wouldn't really get it if it weren't part of the promotion. They might still be working out the preparation methods, but for those that have never been to a Somi Somi, I would recommend for the novelty. If you've been, I would not really go out of the way as the ones I've had in California are slightly better. read more

Finally Somi somi is in Seattle!!! This is the best taiyaki and frozen yogurt! The flavors are unique and best you'll ever have. Plus they have dairy free options for the lactose intolerant which is huge! The matcha flavor is strong and not too sweet. Plus you get to choose all the toppings you want including a strawberry or macaron. And bonus- they're all worth picture perfect and ready for the gram. read more
This dessert shop located inside the SouthCenter Mall near Joey Restaurant. In the pic is Thai tea Soft serve with upside down fish cake with NUTELLA inside If you don't want it to be messy and want it still look pretty for you to take picture make sure to choose upside down like me. The soft serve is not too sweet, it's enough. But the the fish cake+ Nutella is a little bit sweet. Duh. So if you just dip the whole thing in the ice cream then take a bite. It's gonna be perfect in your mouth with a little bit of everything. I finished the whole thing by myself right before dinner and I was still full until the next day. Maybe you should shAre this with someone else. Don't be like me. read more

Was excited to have SomiSomi finally open in Washington after I tried it out in California! I knew it would be very busy since it was inside of Southcenter mall and there was a lot of hype surrounding the store. Got the upside down ah-boong with nutella filling and cookies n' creme + ube swirl. I like that the ice cream swirl combinations change so you can try new combos. The ice cream itself could have more flavoring -- I could barely taste any ube flavor but the cookies n' creme was there. However the consistency of the ice cream was very creamy and delicious! The taiyaki was nice and crispy, which is something I was worried about because I've had taiyakis that were soggy. The wait to pick up your order was kind of long -- probably since it recently opened, but will probably be less busier as time goes by. Kind of hard to hear them call out orders if you don't stand directly by the store since the mall can get noisy. read more

I loooooovvveeeeeddddd this so much! I'm definitely coming here again. I felt so bad though there was only one worker! They definitely need two people and it was so busy. Love SomiSomi over in California and I think it's one of, if not the best, soft serve and taiyaki spot in Washington at the moment. However, the one here is not as good as those down in California. It's extremely packed though and the poor employees can't catch a break, so this might explain it because they're mass preparing taiyakis which become less fresh. Though I also tried the strawberry milk here but was a bit disappointed. Salted Caramel and Matcha Ah-Boong - the salted caramel was white which was surprising so I thought they had ran out of this flavor and gave me a milk and matcha blend. I'm not positive but I want to say it was salted caramel, though the saltiness and caramel flavor were mild. Matcha was rich and strong and not sweet at all, so the flavor could actually shine. It overwhelmed the salted caramel. Taiyaki itself was crispy and not mochi like because it wasn't fresh, but I've had mochi texture at other SomiSomis so that was the disappointing part. Strawberry Milk - instead of strawberry milk, this is more like milk with strawberry. The drink is heavy leaning to milk, showcased by the whiter color, and there is a lack of strawberry flavor after shaking. Though there are strawberry puree bits dispersed inside so you're drinking milk while chewing on strawberries. read more
A friend recommended this place and I am so glad I stopped in. The Taiyaki is made to order and can be customized any which way you please. There are many different flavors of ice cream to choose from and also what kind of filling you want in the taiyaki. We got ours upside down but there is also the option of having the ice cream in the taiyaki acting as a cone. You're spoiled for choice here. Stop in if you're at Southcenter Mall, you won't be disappointed. read more
Got the upside down ahboong! Was craving for it and finally got some while I was in Tukwila. Tried the taiyaki today as well and it met my expectations. My only complaint is the menu board is a bit confusing and visually overwhelming. read more

~~~EAST MEETS WEST IS BEST~~~ WATCH THE EPISODE: FIELD DAY² MADANG PLAZA (YT:@BULGOGIBOMBER) MATCHA/THAI TEA SWIRL w/ FRUITY PEBBLES & MACAROON - It's a beautiful thing when food cultures collide. Somisomi brings an Asian twist to an American classic soft-serve ice cream and makes it feel like you're having it for the first time again. The biggest Asian heavy hitting flavors combined into one is an epic blend but swirl combos are in rotation so check in with the store to make sure they have the one you're looking for. The ice cream is housed in my favorite vessel, the taiyaki cone, a fish shaped cone that has a slight crunchy exterior and is soft and fluffy on the inside. You have many topping options to choose from so go with your tummy! It was my first time there but the staff were very patient and helpful as I struggled choosing my flavors and toppings! This is like crack for kids. The kids love it and so do I! It is a waffle batter with some crunch and chew to it. Inside the fish, you'd find yummy filling like Taro, custard, red bean, Nutella, etc. Do get five fish bc two fish is not enough to feed a family of five. A family that fish together, stays together! read more
This place was so delicious. I love the flavors they offered here. There was a lot of options to choose from for variety which I really liked. I thought it was awesome that they offer toppings with no charge. Also, the workers were really fast and I got my icecream with a short wait time. Overall I will definitely be coming back when I'm in the Tukwila mall. read more
I loveeeeee Somisomi, idk it's something about those fish shaped cones that are so appetizing to me lol. This was my first time at this location- one of the featured swirls was Ube and Cookies N' Cream so I went with that in a cone with custard filling. The macaron on top was a nice touch, and I love how the cone is slightly warm when you get it! Nice and fresh tasting. The flavor combo of these 2 ice cream flavors was amazing, I just finished eating it and I'm already wanting to go back. Highly recommend if you like soft serve! read more
Today I went and got the taiyaki! It was just under $10 for 5 and you could choose fillings. My friend and I chose the custard, red bean, taro, Oreo, and Nutella (you could also choose cheddar and no filling). The custard was similar to a Bavarian cream, and the Oreo was just an oreo or two cooked into the middle (the heat from the press basically melts the oreo so it's not crunchy anymore). The taro was not fresh taro, rather a smooth and sweet taro paste that had a vibrant purple color. My friend and I agreed that Oreo and custard were our favorites. Each taiyaki was STUFFED with filling. They do not disappoint! Each taiyaki is also freshly made so they were super crispy on the outside while the inside was chewy, almost like mochi so there must've been rice flour or some sort of starch in the batter (it is not like the texture of a pancake). I did think the fillings were a little too sweet for my liking, but makes for a nice dessert. Service was so nice as well and has been incredible each time I go. This is a Korean all-time favorite and authentic treat. The soft serve options with the different kind of fills for the pastry add updated options. I first tried this place out in California and was excited to see it show up in our area! The lines are long, especially on weekends, this should be considered for staffing. Our fish was not fully cooled off so the ice cream melted fast and got all over. So if adequate staffing is scheduled, this could be avoided. But still, very delicious! read more

I have wanted to try SomiSomi for a while, but there has been a sizable line every time I have passed by. Today I bit the bullet and got in line. Hot tip: help the counter staff out by knowing your order, which is helpfully laid out in steps on the menu. Two people were making/filling Ahboong and Taiyaki, taking orders, dishing up soft-serve and adding toppings. Whew! My order was an upside down Ahboong with custard filling on top of milk soft-serve and sprinkled with Biscoff crumbs. Wow, delicious! The upside down is definitely shareable, and the soft-serve was thick and dense. This location is in the Southcenter Mall, and it's basically a large food court style counter, so your ambiance is the mall, which has plenty of seating to enjoy your treat and people watch. read more
