We've boarded our beloved family dog at SOMI Pet Resort many times--and we've always tipped generously ($20+) and trusted them with our furry family member. But this time, they broke our trust in the most heartbreaking way. After returning from a week-long vacation, we were overjoyed to reunite with our pup--until they suddenly TOOK HIM BACK from us! Why? They claimed our card payment was declined... despite the $880 charge clearly showing as processed on our phone (+ 15% TIP). They refused to even look at the confirmation and offered zero options or courtesy before heartlessly whisking our dog away to a kennel like a piece of luggage. This was not just poor customer service--this was cruel and unethical. No effort to resolve the issue. No request for another form of payment. No humanity. Just swoosh--your dog is ours until THEY prove you paid. Key point here is the THEY have to prove that you paid - not YOU need to prove. Never again. Took our dog away from us and held him hostage for payment - beware of this establishment. We've been taking our dog here for years. We always tip generously. Went to pick puppy up this weekend after a week-long stay. $880 plus a $125 tip. Super expensive, but we always thought it was money well spent because our dog is like a child to us. Anyway, card gets processed by bank but shows declined at resort. Weird, but I can see why as it was almost $1k. Long story short, as soon as the card gets declined they take my dog and lock him up in a secret room where I can't see him. I'm like, where did he go? Instant response was you can't have the dog until payment goes through. This despite paying thousands of dollars in fees and tips over the past several years. We were instantly treated as degenerates. Did not matter that my bank showed it processed on my phone. I mean, I don't carry $1k in cash on me, so it felt like they were going to keep the dog until I could find the cash. They could not care less. 100% about the money and absolutely no bedside manner. Was very hurtful seeing my dog taken away from me. We loved this place. So sad we got treated this way. To address response by "Sam": 1. One (not multiple) card attempt was declined. My bank now shows that I paid your company twice. We have not been refunded for overpayment. 2. Our dog was removed from my possession for one reason - to secure payment. It was a snap reaction by your staff to the card being declined. 3. Manager did not attempt resolution - he just explained it was your policy to keep the dog. That's not a resolution, that is heavy-handed business. 4. A manager called us once and, like a judge, said he would need to hear both sides to determine who was at fault. Since then he sent a text admitting SOMI was at fault. Please do not try to sugarcoat this - you did wrong and need to own it. read more

Unfortunately, the resort lied when we inquired if our dog had picked up an eye infection during her stay. A superior of the SoMi Pet Resort stated, and will likely reply to this review stating, that (coincidentally) the eye infection was never observed during the dog's stay, including the "bath & inspection" on the final day. Interestingly/Mysteriously/Miraculously, we noticed intense discharge in the dog's eyes as the dog handler brought the dog to us, and again in the parking lot of the SoMi Pet Resort (which of course is located several miles away from SoMi/South Miami, the name is used as a clever marketing gimmick to signal luxury and safety). Despite having access to 2 emergency contacts, along with the Vet's information, we were never made aware of the eye infection until we had to discover it ourselves only moments after the final "bath & inspection".... As you all know, a lingering eye infection can result in permanent damage to the dog's eyes. Our dog had clear signs at the moment we retrieved her and were alarmed enough to go back inside and ask management - they denied any knowledge of an infection, despite clear, "visible to the naked eye," evidence to the contrary. Based on their disinformation, we now have no idea how long our dog has been infected. To the second lie: we visited the pet resort twice prior to our trip and received in-person verbal confirmation, as well as a 3rd confirmation over the phone, that the dog would receive 2-hours of play time. It was not until my emergency contact visited the "resort" (more like dog prison with little jail cells resembling a dog shelter covered in urine) that they informed us the dog was receiving only 1-hour of play time due to it "being the summer." Again, an extreme chance coincidence that this was not readily addressed until *after* the dog had checked-in to her little doggie jail cell and the charges began accruing....you will likely hear back from a "Samantha" or a "Michelle" to dispute this review .... But I challenge you to ask yourself, "why would a friendly dog owner take the time to write this review if these statements are not factually accurate?" Again, this location is nowhere near south Miami and is in fact in the lower demographic and higher crime area near coral way and 79th Avenue. I will give credit to them that they sent a thorough response to my complaints -- of course they denied any and all liability and knowledge of these disappointing actions (LOL) It is cute the dogs play with other dogs, but "resort" is a term used loosely...imagine the dogs stay in tiny prison cells...picture a typical animal shelter, but with less space inside the room and less separation between cages. When we toured the space the dog stays in there was actively urine dripping from one dog's cage into another dog's cage, separated by a 12"-24" aisle. And yes, we paid for ann expensive option - the private doggie room, etc. Sad, to say the least. I do laugh to myself when I think they had the "nerve" to write in an email to me that they didn't notice discharge while the dog was in their custody, and that the sickness and eye discharge must have MAGICALLY appeared between the moment we took the dog and arrived at our car in the parking lot. We came here for the first time this week and we were really pleased with the staff and facility! Everything seemed to be super well organized, and they had detailed notes on our pup's day. I LOVED that I could watch my pup play in the dog park spaces through their online cameras- I enjoy being able to see what he does while at daycare. I do wish that their daycare was more cage-free, they do put the dogs in a kennel for about 2 hours, for a nap / cool-off time. My dog doesn't enjoy being in a smaller, closed off space like that, so I wish there was an option for him to stay outside of the kennel spaces, but still have a "rest" time. Every now and then I need to send my dog to daycare. We used to go to Applause Your Paws but they recently stopped allowing dogs for daycare and instead, you have to add on training which gets pricey. They recommended Somi Pet Resort for our daycare needs as an alternative. I was hesitant to bring my dog here, as she's a little stubborn and doesn't always do the best with every dog she meets. Applause Your Paws knew how to handle her, but would Somi? Turns out, YES! We visited first for a tour and I was really impressed by their facilities. We haven't needed to board her, but it's nice to see that they have webcams and a wide variety of suite options that include both indoor/outdoor spaces. I would feel super happy leaving her here! For daycare, they have large outdoor areas where the dogs run free, play with toys, and cool off in the pool. They seem to rotate dogs throughout the day and always have a big crowd. They do a really good job of posting photos of the pups playing on Instagram, so I stalk that throughout the day and try to spot my girl. Prices are fair, at about $34 for a day of fun. Overall, I'm super happy with this newer facility and it's extra close to my house which is a win win. read more

I never expected for my dog to come home with a severe infection that needed antibiotics and a pet visit. Hi my name is Catalina I left Lucca on Thursday the 13th and went to pick him up Monday the 17th, I requested that he gets a blowout for when he gets out of the pool so he doesn't get hot spots but that wasn't the case, after i pick him up he wouldn't stop scratching his face and ears and during the day and night he wouldn't stop vomiting. We took him to the vet this morning where we spend $751.78 to find out he has hot spots all over his face and an ear infection. I spoke with one of the managers yesterday and she said she would refund me the $21 blowout were should have "prevented" the hot spots. I don't think it's fair for me to spend $309 for the stay that they had with you plus $751.78 for the vet bill and just get $21 as a refund. I get a call this morning from the same manager saying that that the refund cannot be done and he already came like that, he stayed 4 days with you guys and saying it's my fault that my dog look like this where I paid $21 for him to get dry so this doesn't happen. Do better on your customer service because I wanted to speak with the general manager and I cannot do that until Friday. read more

My pup Dyno and I were invited to SOMI for a 1st Birthday Party! I only have great things to say about this place starting from the staff and service to the beautiful facilities. We were taken outside upon arrival to their spacious "big" dog park. There is so much space including sun and shaded areas for your pup to run and play. Dyno's favorite part was the pool of course ! SOMI has two of them including a shallow one in the smaller dog park for smaller pups. I hope to one day bring my pup back for day care or boarding. Please be careful with this place... They all seemed very nice but my dog came back with a bacteria and fungal infection. I had to spend almost $1000 to treat him. I have the receipts to prove it.. He apparently got this from another animal in the pool they put him in. I will never recommend or go back there. My dog is an english bulldog.. This was back in August of 2021. When I asked them, they said it was probably heat spots. He had to be treated for microsporum gypseum which is contagious to other animals. Vet said he got it there from another dog. Very hard to treat. he was on antibiotics "cipropfloxacin, Carprofen, antifungal shampoo, omega 3 cultures for anaerobic/aerobic and fungal, skin scraping NEVER AGAIN!!!!!! read more

Here's a review I've been contemplating on for awhile. I like anyone who's is a pet parent am very protective and my Otis is like my child. Well I must say if you are looking for daycare or boarding go elsewhere!!!! I understand they recently received the award of Best Boarding Facility by the Miami New Times. That must have been a donation or something that the owners of Somi Pet Resort made, because that's the furthest from the truth. This daycare is run by a few young women, who have no idea about customer service, and especially how to take care of animals. Every time I would pick up my Otis and my Mom's pup from daycare they were beyond thirsty and out of breath. I obviously wasn't there with them but I don't believe they give them water in the runs throughout the day. The last straw was today, I called to setup Otis for daycare tomorrow, well that didn't go as planned, lol! This SUPER rude and nasty girl by the of Natalie or Natalia stated that they couldn't go because they were booked until two weeks??? Hmm, strange, especially when I had spoke to the manager Samantha a few times already and she assured me that Otis and my Mom's pup could go whenever to daycare. I am so tired of the attitude of the girls who work there. Everyone always has a dead loon on their face and just unpleasant energy. I didn't want to have a bigger problem so I decided to remove them from that horrible place. I have a really short tolerance for ignorance, rude and disrespectful people. I grew up with manners and class, which none of the employees there have. I decided to remove ourselves from that as, And I can resort to not nice actions, let's leave it at that. My dog, Cooper has attended Somi since he was 4 months old. He's 9 months old now and I can't say enough good things about this place. The front desk personnel are warm and caring and know every dog by name and personality . While waiting to drop my dog off, Ive seen them write down instructions from owners leaving their dogs there for boarding. I'm amazed at their patience since some of the instructions are extremely detailed. The place is spotlessly clean and smells great . Hello my name is Asael and I left my dogo argentino here for 4 days and at first I thought It would be great because the place looks great and convincing but it wasn't. I told staff to take my dog to the pool by himself since he is not friendly and they agreed, good no problem yet I didn't see him not once in the pool at all and I checked the cameras every hour. When I went to pick him up I asked to see footage of him in the pool they said there is none but that he had a good time in the pool, apperantly I have to take their word for it. I don't expect this type of service from a place that isn't necessarily cheap... in addition he came back bitten all over the face and over the head and I asked about it and no valid answer, nobody knew how it happened. That is just unacceptable no matter what place or how much they are charging you this just doesn't have an explanation. My first reaction when I heard about this place opening is, FINALLY!! A real, top of the line dog-run, centrally location in Miami (coral way and 71 ave)! I had to go out of town this passed weekend and with no dog sitter available, I decided to try boarding at SPR. After making a reservation online, Michelle called me to clarify a few details on my reservation request and talked me through the check-in/check-out procedures and what I needed to bring in for my pet (ie, food in baggies for each day, bed/blanket, toys for room, etc.) I brought in my pup a couple hours later, where she went straight over to the dog park for playtime and Michelle kindly gave me a tour of where she would be staying! I had seen pictures online, but this really is a jaw dropping place for your pup once you see it in person. These guys have thought of it all. They have two turf parks, equipped with sun shades and in-ground swimming pools to keep the dogs cool in the Miami heat! The suites for the dogs (notice, I said SUITE and not kennel) are all indoor/outdoor spaces so your pup can freely go outside to potty at their leisure during breaks and in the evening time. One of their best features is their dog park webcams where you can check in on your pet during play hours. Not to mention, their everyday insta stories are so funny and great to watch your pet play as well! Pricing is comparable to other dog-runs in Miami for daycare and boarding, however, I find these guys have the BEST facilities for your pet! Its definitely worth checking out! I will continue to bring my pup here on a regular basis for daycare and boarding when I'm out of town. read more

We are so fortunate to have found this magical place with doggy pools and shaded outdoors for our newly acquired pup. The staff are absolutely outstanding and caring and obviously truly love animals. They listen to us, they answer our questions and are very very warm. We toured the place with Cullen who was wonderful, positive and clearly a dog lover before we decided to bring "Gus" in for a try. All went well and Cullen has made it a point to speak to us to show us the progress that our dog has made and when he quickly outgrew the small park made sure to talk to us and let us know about the decision to move him to the big park as they were watching him closely and he was READY. He even said he made Gus his little "project" because when we brought him in he was only 3 and 1/2 months old. Now he is 6 months old and has a place to get his doggy energy out and socialize in a safe monitored environment. They keep notes on the dogs and always let us know how our puppy has done that day if we ask or will let us know of any new behavior changes (for example if they start humping- lol) so that we know what is going on. At six months your dog needs to have that appointment ready to go for their neuter or spade and that is for the dog's safety. There are cameras on all the parks and whenever we want we can watch him out there scampering around or splashing in the pool. There are also several amazing handlers that are there with the dogs that work hard out there and I have witnessed many of them showing love and affection to our doggy as well as the others. They have photographers who post regularly pictures and videos of the doggos playing on their instagram page and we absolutely love seeing our puppy in those videos and pictures. They do such a wonderful job!!! When we got our puppy it was sort of a rescue from an elderly family member that made an irresponsible decision to get a big dog they couldn't handle and so we were overwhelmed and yet commited to giving him a good life. We knew our large breed puppy needed loads of exercise and needed a solution that would be wonderful for our dog and give us a little break a couple hours for a few days a week. I recommend getting the package of 50 as it ends up saving you money if you know you will be taking your dog there consistantly. Not to mention their boarding facility is so so nice- we have not used it yet but are comforted to know that when we do, our puppy will be familiar there and treated with love. read more

This pet resort is by far the best pet resort in the United States! I couldn't be happier. I was going to the Bahamas and had to drop my dog off somewhere safe. My first choice with someplace called DOG. I went to check it out and I immediately turned away. It looked like a ghetto shack in an alley. In a frantic rush I was looking at different resorts I could drop her off at. Somi popped up and I immediately head over to check out the resort. The staff was so friendly and it was so clean and big. They gave me a tour to show me where Sasha would be staying and gave me my different options. There are two big play areas for the dogs. They separate them regarding their size and behavior. I was so worried about dropping her off but with the constant Instagram pictures and updates from Natalie I was able to relax and enjoy my vacation. I opted for the WebCam and my dog sweet and would watch her from time to time. She had six hours of playtime so she was a busy girl. When we picked her up it was almost like she was sad to leave. I know that she had a great time and that they took great care of her. At first I was skeptical about how much it was going to be but when I picked her up it was all worth it. When dropping your dog off who is obviously a family member to you it is important to give them a safe and healthy environment. My favorite thing was watching their Instagram stories of Sasha at all the other dogs playing. It was truly a great experience and I will definitely be dropping her off again. Looking at these bad reviews it's crazy to me that people have the nerve to write these. Somi is probably the best pet resort I've ever seen in my life. The staff is so friendly and cares about the animals. Comparing Somi to other resorts around Florida I can say that this is definitely the best option. I love their different options for suites that include WebCam so that you're not worried about how your dog is doing and sleeping. The play area is the best thing to because it allows the dogs to get out and stretch their legs and distract them selves that their owners are not with them. Roxy has only stayed here twice and she is very shy and nervous but when she arrives they always receive her so caring. Every single time that we leave our Daisy here we know she's going to be so well taken care of. I absolutely love that they are always posting pictures online and have a WebCam of the play area so you can always catch a photo or two of your doggie. During our first tour at Somi Pet Resort, I was just amazed at the large space, attention to detail, and the professionalism of the staff. I had a terrible experience at another daycare, so my boyfriend and I were looking for a new one nearby, and we are so glad that we found this place. They have a live cam, which we have access to. You can trust these people, who are not only dog lovers, but also experts. They even showed us a little area where they take dogs who don't want to play with other dogs, or need a "time out" and they explained that an employee keeps them busy by playing with them. That is just awesome. I am relieved to know that they take very good care of my Italian Greyhound, Tortellini. And afterwards, they let you know how your dog did.
