I first heard about Paws 4 You from a couple of friends who both adopted dogs from the org. My husband and I have wanted a dog for awhile and decided early on that we would rescue. I was looking at a few different local shelters and decided to try to find our fur-ever friend at Paws 4 You first. They house all their pups at a space near The Falls in Kendall. One to two times a month, they host an Open House, and also bring their dogs to spots like Petsmart and other events perodically. We applied online beforehand because we wanted to be able to take home a match right away if we found one. It's a comprehensive application and once we were approved, we were asked if there was any particular dog we were interested in online (you can see them all at paws4you.org/adopt!). It's worth noting this biz is powered by kind volunteers, so it may take a little bit of time to get responses. Long story short, we ended up visiting on an Open House day. Volunteers walk around with you, share the story of the different animals, take them to play, and ultimately get them ready to head home with their new parents if you choose one. After seeing a handful of dogs, we found a match! She came with all her vaccinations, food, a first dose of monthly medications like heart worm prevention, chipped, spayed, and sporting a fresh new harness, leash and tennis ball! It was a $350 fee since she's a little younger. We are so thankful for the work Paws 4 You does to save these dogs in the first place and help find a loving home. Per the statement on the application, the committee is not required to give a reason for this denial." Maybe they discriminated against the breed of dogs I already had. Maybe they didn't like that my dogs live mostly in the backyard, not in doors, and I was honest enough to tell them. They go swimming with us, have favorite patio furniture they lay under the patio roof, and go to the keys and play in mangrove muck. You see, I believe that dogs are happiest when they are allowed to be dogs, not couped up indoor animals. They chase lizards and squirrels and roll in dog poop. Maybe it was because we wanted a puppy puppy this time. Though we've rescued 4 animals before, I hadn't had a little puppy since I was a teenager. My husband and children have never experienced it. Maybe they will only give a puppy puppy to a household with a stay-at-home parent to give the puppy 24 hour care. Apparently only rich people (rich in time, not just money) are worthy of a puppy? Maybe they won't like the sound of your name, Shaniqua or Mohammed. Maybe they won't like that you live in an apartment. We'll never know, will we? Because they get to pass judgement and not explain it. Sounds cowardly to me. We adopted an adorable 8 week old mutt that I found on Craig's list the next weekend. Took her to the vet's office same day to start shots and medicine and she is sweet, smart thing. I would suggest you not adopt from this place. These people are playing God. With all the dogs out there that need a good home, they should not be saying no to good homes without even the courtesy of an explanation. read more

I contacted this location to do some community service. 1st they FORCE you to donate if you want to volunteer. REQUIRED 20$ for orientation. (First red flag) .. second red flag is they keep saying they need volunteers... but denied me AFTER TAKING MY MONEY & did not offer a REFUND until I had to ask. I had to sit through orientation for NO REASON so yes I did want my money back. I also donated and extra 20 I said they can keep but she had to refund the whole thing. I am not sure why there are 2 reviews with 1 star. The boarding facility at Paws 4 You was a great place to board my dogs. I typically have a dog sitter who stays at the house, however, we needed to board our dogs because we were having a full house of visitors. My two dogs were adopted from Paws 4 You and the facility goes out of the way to ensure that the animals are safe and they were well cares for. Yes they charged for a bath and yes my dogs smelled like they got bath...the proceeds go to Paws 4 You. read more

I was fortunate enough to meet the owner when they were showing dogs at PetSmart. I found my sweet dog. Everyone (all the volunteers) at the store were very helpful. Currently, I find that I needed a place to board my dog and I found that Paws4U boards! So, we placed our girl there. And we have nothing but good things to say. The owner was there. We were able to talk to her again. The entire staff was friendly. The place was clean and quite. They loved dogs and knew how to care for them. I was able to leave my food for my girl and she had her own air conditioned room. We were able to see her on a camera. When our pet passed away after a time we returned to Paws4you Terry was instrumental in helping us adopting of new pup! We are delighted. I didn't think I could smile again after our loss. But I am. It feels so incredibly good to love an animal give one a home. read more

I applied to adopt a puppy but due to my mom who works at night and rest through the day for a bit allowed me not to adopt because of that. She who owns the home me and my adult kids reside in and I feel all the adults that reside in the home has enough time and love to give. And I am financially stabled. read more

The place is clean and the staff is nice. I left my dogs for a week and they were well taken care of. I have left my dogs here several times. I met the owner once and she showed me around and all the improvements she had made to the facility, she is truly devoted. I adopted one of my rescue dogs, Oliver from Paws and could not be happier. He started out as a foster and clearly we could not let anyone else adopt him. We also just picked all 3 of our dogs from Paws For You's boarding facility, which was a great expierence and highly recommended. The proceeds go to help other dogs, which is awesome. This was the first time we have ever put our dogs in boarding so I was emailing alot and I not only received patient responses, but also a few pics. My dogs came home happy and with good attitudes. The facility is clean, big and away from the street. I can't say enough nice things about the staff who treated our babies gently. Our dogs really took to them. I had used them for years. Even after a friend told me they had a bad (abuse) experience, I stuck with them. When Judy Hess passed, the place went to the dumps! This last stay was a disaster! Never again, I'm considering suing, my pet was treated for 10 days although he was only there for 8? Go figure. Very irresponsible, no one shows their face, no owner or leader, they throw volunteers to the desk and work and no one takes responsibility. I called Animal Services, the ASPCA and other watchdog places after this last stay. Could be a good place, was a good place however, too much of an impersonal, anonymous, greed driven place now. Will NOT leave my dog, will NOT recommend. Appearances are deceiving here. My dog has come back with ticks, limping, with stomach problems and apparently drugged and lethargic. NO MORE! Find another place and report problems at this or any place that purports to love and take care but apparently do not! read more
