We were served and seated quickly and offered a supplementary vegan or gluten free menu which I thought was very convenient. There was an excellent variety on the menus and I thought the prices were very worth it as the food and drink was delicious. The music and ambience was lovely. I think the lighting overall was a bit dim for lunchtime but I think it would be perfect for dinner or later in the afternoon. Definitely recommend!

Even though this business was closed due to the bank holiday, they opened just for us so we could celebrate. Space was excellent, drinks are great, and again, the staff could not have been nicer and more accommodating. Looking forward to going back to Oxford soon so I can hit the Mad Hatter again!

They have an incredible beer selection, but for me, this place is all about the cocktails - and boy do they do good cocktails! Amoeba is small. It is set over 3 levels; ground level with a few tables, the bar is upstairs and then downstairs you'll find a few more tables and nice terrace area. The decor is dark red and it's nice and dimly lit. They have a large blackboard on the wall with a list of all of their beers and an amazing selection of spirits behind the bar. I've felt instantly comfortable and every time Ive been to Amoeba. It always has a great atmosphere and it isn't what you'd expect from a cocktail bar in Clifton. It's nowhere near as pretentious or uninviting as Hausbar up the road. There's no door knocking here! They had a decent DJ (although he was sat down, ha) and the staff were great. Smart, clean, modern and 'European' in decor, it was reassuringly busy, early evening, even though mid-week. Friendly staff, we only had wines and coffees, but both were well up to spec. The Olive Lounge tickked all our boxes, and I will happily use it more in the future.
