    Christmas Time at The Talbot
    Cristin L.

We were disappointed to find that the nearby curry house was closed on St. Stephens / Boxing day, we had been looking forward to a feed there. So instead we found out ourselves in The Talbot and we were not disappointed. I skipped having a proper starter so I would be able to finish my main, but the noises from my three dinner companions were all good about their starters. I did however have a bowl of olives to tide me until the mains arrived and there was plenty in the bowl, filled me up a little too much to be honest. For a main I went for the Blade of Beef, which came carrots, mushrooms and other veg cooked in a lovely gravey. It also came with roast potatoes. It was delicious and hearty food. The Talbot itself is a bustling bar with a nice atmosphere when it fills up at night time. When its not so full earlier in the evening it presents itselfs perfectly for a quiet drink. Staff were attentive and friendly.

Check in was a breeze and oh so glad I had an overnight bag as there is no lift. The accomadations were just wonderful, from the comfy bed, the linens and the available drinks. We enjoyed Dinner in the Hotel's restaurant (we did have reservations) and it was memorable. The morning breakfast service and available choices were a delight and such attentive service. I must add that this Hotel is located in one gem of a town and one I will definitely be revisiting. Parking can be a pain, but definitely worth it.
