Love the atmosphere. Good selection in the car, great place to hang out. Had the steak which was on the fatty side, broccoli served like warm. Service was okay.

Fantastic food and friendly service in a very traditional pub, which means the building has its…read morequirks, namely drafts. So be careful of which table you choose to sit at, as there's a breeze wafting thru the eaves, which might be okay in summer, but since I was there in winter, meant I was using a shawl to stay warm. Architecture aside, the food really is the star here, and this place is one of my brother's fave places in the area, and he especially recommends their Fish Pie. Btw, there is no table service to take your order. You have to pre-pay at the counter, and the food is bought out to you later. When I came here with my brother and mum, we ordered the following menu items and it was more than enough food for all three of us: 1) Fish Pie - this is what this restaurant is justifiably famous for and it's a massive dish. They only make a certain number of the pie's per day, and when it's over, it's over. So if going for dinner (and I can't emphasize this enough) call them to make sure they still have a fish pie available!! We lucked out, they'd one left, which they saved for us (hoorah) cause it was DELICIOUS!! Lashings of beautifully crisped potatoes and underneath a lovely combination of scallops, fish, shrimps and vegetables. Loved this dish!! 2) Cod & Chips - a hearty piece of fried fish that was placed atop of the chips. I don't like this kinda placement as the chips right underneath the fish get a bit soggy so hurriedly moved the fish piece to the side of the plate after taking a quick photo. The fish was nicely cooked but it was also standard variety for the item. 3) My brother is a massive fan of Sticky Toffee Pudding and so we ordered this item to share, and it was a surprise when the pudding came out surrounded by custard! I've only ever had with syrup or caramelized sauce before but surprisingly the custard worked and it was delicious. Fabulous place to eat and when I next visit my brother, you better believe I'm going to request a return visit back to this place! Yelp 25/ 2019

Back again for round 2! Still only 4 stars but only because of the price. It's definitely…read moreoverpriced! I wish it wasn't... We opted for different dishes this time and we certainly were not disappointed. We got bread and oils again although this time we were charged for them. The mister had the Thai red curry he said it was so good and filling. But the chicken breast was roasted separately and this took away from the flavor of the chicken and he'd have preferred it was cooked with the sauce. However he still really enjoyed this dish and was left fully satisfied. I got the pork belly (diet-what diet) Yum! It was full of flavor and the boys of crackling scattered on the plate were a added tasty bonus. The mash was amazing and creamy. No doubt full of calories but at this point who's counting! The pork itself was really good. And the veg and black pudding went will with it. All washed down with a glass of pino. Happy out!

I have scored this a 4 out of 5, perhaps a little unfairly as it would have scored higher had I…read moreordered different food. To start with I ordered 'locally shot pigeon'. I've only had pigeon once before so when I saw this I had to have it. I'm delighted I did as it was beautiful, nice and juicy as it was water cooked. It was rich and complimented by the bacon and stilton salad. For the main we both ordered burger. I don't know why I did that as there were so many other unusual dishes on the menu and I resorted to good ol' hamburger - not the most daring. It was good but I've been eating a lot of good burgers recently and this sat somewhere in the middle of all of those. As I say the 4 rating is really because of the burger so harsh as it was not the restaurant that chose the dish for me. I look forward to going again when I shall be eating something a bit more unique to the kitchen, and I'm sure the 4 star rating will move to a 5.

This little cafe is set up in such a way that it reminded me instantly of my nan's flat, but in a way that it makes you feel immediately at home. It was very busy and yet it still felt very laid back. We sat down and were faced with a traditional menu, at rediculously low prices - Fanastic I thought. After ordering my Ocean pie and my partners' ham, egg and chips it was no more that 10 mins before our meals were on the table. The food was delicious! Adding a cup of coffee and a hot chocolate to the bill, it still only just cost us £10. I cannot recommend this cafe enough, although small, it is scrupulously clean, instantly welcoming and very good value for money. Perfect for afternoon tea, breakfast or a cheap lunch.

The service was friendly and the prices were great. I shared a pot of tea with my other half. We got two cups each out of it and it was a nice cuppa. For only £1.70 I was really impressed. We only had a drink there but they do have a good menu at good prices. It's only a small place but it was fairly busy. There are a few tables inside and a small seating area out the front. There are no steps to get inside but there isn't a lot of room inside for disabled access. xxxxx UPDATE xxxxx We went here again and had something to eat. The food was really nice with good portions and the staff were very helpful. This place definitely gets my vote for GVfM.
