Without a doubt my favorite pub in the Cotswolds/ Cheltenham area.
I always think of the Appletree as what the average foreign person would think of when describing an old English countryside pub. In a building that seems as if it has stood for hundreds of years, the Appletree is full of character and leaves you with a genuine warm and happy feeling. Experiencing it at different times of the year, you'll also get a different perspective and memory each time you come in. The last I came to England and visited was around October/November and I remember sitting enjoying a drink by the warm fireplace; this time around it was smack in the middle of July during a heat wave. Windows and doors open, the outside garden area was most certainly the place to be with a slight breeze to cool you down in the sweltering heat. Some excellent classic pub food also awaits you here; whitebait, fried mushrooms, Pate and a Beef and Ale pie were all ordered and absolutely delicious. The Appletree has a very local feel, a picturesque setting, deep in the Bishops Cleeve countryside, and is just something to experience and savior, especially for those visiting. read more
