It's a short walk out of town, but certainly worth it, as you'll walk through a great beer garden and past other lovely pubs, bars, restaurants and shops. It's also tucked down a little street that you might miss, so make sure you've got your google maps at hand. I really do think they're got everything right here. Inside are little rooms and snugs that you could make your own with group of friends, and the staff are always really friendly. It does get quite busy on a Saturday night, but they put lots of staff behind the bar meaning your wait isn't too long. Local beers are always changing on tap, and they have a great selection of ciders too. Every year the beehive have a cider and beer festival where they make use of their gorgeous garden out the back of the pub. Using hay bales as a bar, they have extra bars in the garden and it really is worth visiting!

My steak was well-cooked and lightly seasoned although I could go for a little more seasoning so maybe I'll try the peppercorn sauce. I've forgotten some of the other dishes I or my dining companions have had but there haven't been any complaints. The building has several different areas with slightly different atmospheres, but I'm embarrassed to say that in all my visits, I haven't made it past the seating in the front. I'll try the outdoor seating in a few months. I'm sure we'll find pleasant staff and tasty food in the rest of the restaurant as well.

Five real ales if I remember rightly, and they are all well kept by a knowledgeable landlord and staff. Not had the food, but the landlord has a good reputation from previous places he's had. Skittle alley is there too, and the place has regular events such as live jazz, barbecues, wine tastings and so on. A class act.
