The food on offer is really nice and freshly cooked - and their burgers actually taste of meat! There is a variety of tables, small, large, intimate, there seems to be something for everyone. They have sky tv too, and so the bar area attracts sports fans to watch the game - worth bearing in mind if you're going for a quiet dinner! If you have children, you might want to try and find your way into one of their booths - and then you have your own TV to keep them amused!! I've been twice since it reopened, and so far, I haven't been kept waiting for my food - it's been served promptly and always looks great!

I have never had to wait to be served and the food has been served up quickly and has always been well presented and cooked although portions can be a bit on the small side, however it's always been like that in any Brewers fayre so I always go for sides too which I share with Mr Datcat. If I'm feeling really greedy I will have a pudding and they usually leave me quite happy. The pub is clean throughout including the toilets and is family friendly. Staff are helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The bill is usually quite reasonable and for those of us with nectar cards you can pick up extra points and don't forget to check the websites for offers as you can get 2 for 1's or x amount off. Plenty of parking available.

The pub is an eating place, rather than a boozy pub, but it's not particularly family friendly. The food is of a good quality, but it's not particularly cheap. The pub has an open fire in the winter - but it does get very busy, and the fireplace is the most popular area, so don't expect to be able to get near if you're not there early!! There are some garden benches, but they are next to the bypass, so unless you're really desperate to sit outside, you probably wouldn't here. The staff are pleasant enough, but not overly friendly, and there are usually only two bar staff, who also take the food orders, so you should prepare yourself for a wait if it is even moderately busy at the bar. The pub has a car park - and is on the footpath from Barnwood - Longlevens. It's nice, but it's nothing special, and not really worth a special journey.

Quiz nights and low key music make this a good local pub that Mr Datcat and I use on the weekdays evenings. It's always clean and there is no stale beer smell you can get in other pubs sometimes. Families are welcome here, but for those of us who just want a quiet drink the eating area is separate from the bar. There is a pub garden and a smoking area is available. Plenty of parking or if you want to leave the car at home the bus stop is just across the car park. All in all in nice pub.

WOW! This place has the WOW factor! It has recently reopened…read more(Used to be called the Golden Cross) and it is ace! Lots of snooks - some with armchairs, all with open fires make this a great place for chilling out with friends, or someone special. The whole building is made of solid wood - it really gives the idea of a quality place. The staff are pretty friendly and welcoming, and tables are cleared quickly. The garden is MASSIVE! and again, all solid wood furniture and decking - it really looks like a quality place. There are no heaters in the garden, but in the summer, it will be a complete sun trap and I think it will be busy! The toilets are up two flights of stairs, so don't leave it until you're desperate!!! This is a Samuel Smiths pub, and as such, don't expect to get anything that is branded in this pub - but actually, it's nice to have a change and Samuel Smiths' cider is lovely..!! I'm going back soon for food, so I'll report back again after that!!

I can agree with Dizzie on this place it is lovely with open fires in most of the little snug…read morerooms, the refurb has been tastefully done and it is friendly and welcoming. The staff are really friendly The food is amazing I had steak and ale pie and vegetables and mash it was all freshly prepared and no prepacked stuff here. Generous sized portions and very tasty.
