We had an extremely poor experience with another Wedding Planner in Austin and began working with Melanie in the midst of postponing our wedding because of COVID. Our wedding should've been completely planned when Melanie took over but little did we know that there were some major issues with our big day. I can honestly say that without Melanie, I don't know what our big day would've looked like... she literally saved our wedding!! She is attentive, detail oriented, more organized than I ever thought possible, funny and just an absolute joy to work with. I wish we would've gone with Melanie and Something To Celebrate from day 1 because it would've saved us so much stress and worry!! We hired Melanie Richardson to coordinate my daughter's December wedding in Dripping Springs and it was the absolute best decision we made! Not only was Melanie professional and organized, but her laid-back personality and sense of humor made her a joy to work with. She was very easy to communicate with, and was always prompt in responding to our many emails and phone calls. She listened to us and created exactly what we wanted, but because of her years of experience, she was able to give us many ideas on how to make the event flow smoothly. We are not from the Dripping Springs/Austin area, so we hired most of our vendors based on her recommendations. Every vendor we went with provided excellent service and we were extremely pleased. Her attention to detail is amazing, and because of this I was able to relax and enjoy the day of the wedding. When the groom's cake was delivered and it did not look exactly as ordered, Melanie was very calm and professional and quickly thought of a quick solution. None of the guests realized there had ever been a problem with it. Melanie proved her organizational skills the week of the wedding when we had to make the decision to move the ceremony indoors due to inclement weather. She spent countless hours on the phone with the florist and caterer to discuss these last-minute changes to ensure that everything was perfect. On the day of the wedding - everything looked gorgeous and the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception were just as we had envisioned them. Not only did the majority of our guests comment that it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever attended, but also stated it was the most fun they had ever had at a wedding. We hired Jessica at Something To Celebrate for our wedding in September and she was wonderful. I was against a planner or coordinator at first - thought I could do it all myself- but I came across an article that listed reasons to hire one and we qualified for three out of four: higher guest count (we were expecting 150), we live in a different city than where our wedding was held, and we both have full time jobs. I called a few companies that all sounded great, but Jessica seemed to put me at ease immediately. Maybe it's the fact that she grew up doing this... Her parents were videographers (or photographers, I forget) and she was charged with anything and everything to help the day go smoother for the bride and groom so they looked relaxed and happy in the shots. (see below) She knows this business inside and out! I also love that her packages were very customizable. You could hire Something To Celebrate for just day-of coordination and add on anything you like up to full service wedding planning and negotiating with vendors on your behalf. By the time we found Jessica, we had already booked our venue and caterer, so we went for the day-of coordinating plus figuring out some transportation for our guests. (There were some major events the same weekend as our wedding and this turned out to be a life saver- Jessica did things to make this work that really saved the day.) Take note, the basic day-of service comes with quite a lot: several planning meetings, budgeting help, figuring out your schedule for the weekend, and all the ceremony and receptions layouts, plus more. Even if you don't hire STC to find your vendors, they are full of excellent recommendations and will point you in the right direction. Jessica lead us to our florist (Last Petal) our photographer (Stacy Sodolak / SMS Photography) and a great hair and make up salon (Frenchy's). As someone else has already mentioned, a lot of vendors will give discounts when they hear you have a coordinator. It makes the day go easier for them too. Bottom line, our wedding day was so easy and fun and there was a barely a stressful moment. My family was stunned at how calm I was. We hired Jacklyn Rudd at STC the week after we got engaged, and I'm so incredibly glad we went with her...from day 1, she was very organized and fast in finding us vendors and attending every single meeting with us. She responds to e-mails within the same day, usually within several hours, and she will go out of her way to make sure you are satisfied with every aspect of your wedding. I really appreciated how she kept true to my vision for the wedding and assisted me when I wasn't sure exactly what that vision was. She took time on Saturday mornings and frequently drove very long distances to come to meetings with my fiance and I, always with a smile on her face and iPad in hand. I highly recommend Katie Netherton (Something To Celebrate) we hired her as our event coordinator for our May wedding. It was the BEST decision we could have made. Initially we had zero plans of hiring a wedding planner, mainly because we felt that we could save more time and money doing it on our own. However, that's when this thing called LIFE took over and kept us from spending the amount of time we really wanted on our wedding. Katie saved us time and worry in regards to time-line planning, orchestrating everything on the day of the wedding, and making sure all our vendors got paid. Jessica (who started STC) came highly recommended to me by the owner of the venue I rented (Star Hill Ranch). He boasted so much about her and how great she is at her job (which, coming from someone who deals with a lot of wedding folk, I knew this opinion could be trusted). So I emailed her and set up an appointment to snatch her up before anyone else could. And I am so glad I did! Hiring a wedding coordinator is such a wise choice, I am baffled at the people who think/want to do all their own coordination on the day of. You are a bride/groom, don't you want to enjoy your day and not worry about all the little details? (Ok, I'll hop off my soap box now). So we hired Jessica for coordination (but she does plan if you want that service, too) and it was one of the best investments we made for our Big Day. We had a small (40 guests) wedding, but most people came from out of state, and our choice of venue did not allow us the option to do our own set-up because of time (limited prep time). We "only" hired Jessica for her day-of coordinator package, but this package included tons of vendor recommendations, unlimited emailing, a venue walk-through and planning meeting, and a detailed set-up planning meeting. She also submitted diagrams, a precise timeline (updated numerous times), took over vendor coordination the week-of (no frazzled last-minute confirmation calls or problems), and had some great input/suggestions. I probably seemed like I did not care at times, because certain aspects of traditional weddings were important to us, and, having a small family, some were not. Jessica was professional, but also laid-back and non-judgmental. I never felt embarrassed to be having a small, less-expensive wedding (comparatively!) when working with her. She also was incredibly accommodating with my DIY-streak (table runners, all florals, favors, etc.), and handled the best logistics for getting all our stuff from us to her for the wedding set-up. Any planner who will help you incorporate 120+ mason jars into a small wedding (drinking glasses, centerpieces, luminaries!) is definitely creative and patient. Hiring Something to Celebrate allowed us to focus on the portions of our wedding that were important to us, and not worry so much during the week and day-of, when we needed to relax and spend time with our family and friends. Plus, since we both work really long hours, it was nice to know there was someone helping me and answering my lunchtime emails! read more

I cannot praise Jacklyn Rudd enough for helping coordinate such a beautiful wedding. We got engaged on New Years Eve and wanted to get married in May! She was amazing and despite a short timeline and a strict budget, she created a wedding far beyond our dreams. She was extremely organized and answered emails in a timely manner, but even more than that she genuinely cares about creating the best day possible. We had a few bumps and bruises a few days prior to the wedding. Specifically, my mother fell and broke her hip. She had to have surgery and was unable to attend the wedding. Naturally, this broke my heart but Jacklyn was there to arrange an iPad so my mom was able to see the whole wedding! Words can not describe how much this meant to both me and my mom. (Father of the Groom): STC did a wonderful job making the wedding for our son and new daughter-in-law super special and hassle free. The unbelievably organized planning included budget spreadsheets, floor plans, itineraries, and to-do lists that were shared as Google Docs, so everyone could easily review and comment. The service people selected by STC were great too. They set up the venue first into an elegant wedding chapel, then turned it into the perfect reception room, arranging all the tables, chairs, food service buffets, and bar. The security officer STC hired was so accommodating, she even opened doors as guests arrived. The DJ filled the chapel with great music and the microphone was so clear, you would have thought it was a built-in sound system. He even helped do an audio recording of the entire evening with no extra charge. I highly recommend STC for anyone's wedding, if they want to sit back and enjoy a very special day. read more
