Ally is the best. My husband and I agree that hiring Ally was the best money that we spent out of everything with the wedding. She was a calm voice in the crazy that is the lead up to your wedding. She was also great to talk to about what was worth it to splurge on or that wouldn't be as important as memorable. Day of, Ally totally killed it. I didn't worry about ANYTHING. My florist had a new assistant and she didn't put enough ribbon on my bouquet and Ally flew into action and helped my bridesmaids locate my Tide Pen and the assistant to fix it right away (green from the stems got on my dress!) Ally made sure that we always had a drink in our hand (even though we barely got to drink any of them) and did such a great job corralling our insane family and hard partying guests. We got married last year and we've been waiting to write this review since the wedding night... Let me start by saying Lindsay was incredibly nice. That makes it a little tough to say the things I'm about to say, but your wedding day is important and we found In Her Shoes online...so we wanted a very honest review for people to have when making their decision on who to use. We did the full package: start from months out and Lindsay was supposed to plan every detail. We lived across the country so we needed her to do a lot of the groundwork. All of this was discussed in a phone conversation before agreeing to work with her, as was the budget. Looooong story short, Lindsay went 40%+ over budget. The only deals we got, we found on our own (I randomly found a photographer that was incredible and half the price of others, or the budget would've ended up closer to 50% or more over had we used her photographer suggestions). There were a handful of vendors she had used before (mostly catering) but it seemed like the others were basically googled. The DJ was awful and more or less forgot what songs to play when (not her fault, but she's the one that found them). All vendors she suggested were in the same ballpark price, so it was really difficult to try and control the budget. I asked her to start giving a "cheap, on budget, and over budget" option for each item...but that was too little too late. She did not deliver on a number of things. One example I recall was when it came time to deliver rose petals, candles, and other items to the house for after the wedding. She "had a panic attack" and couldn't bring herself to drive down the windy road to the house. Instead she grabbed me on my way out of the reception (before the sparkler's and such) and told me she put all of that in the car that was driving us to the house and suggested "I run in and sprinkle some rose petals while she gets out of her dress." Other than that and the budget, there were no absolute disasters. She did not communicate with the wedding party hardly at all. The night went fine overall, as my wife and I are pretty laid back people and just wanted to have a fun night. We noticed everything, but decided we'd rather enjoy the night. An uptight couple or ones that wanted everything perfect would've been very upset. If you're the type that is going to plan your wedding yourself but need someone the day of or a buddy to bounce ideas off of, then maybe this isn't a bad move. But if you actually need a "wedding planner" then I'd run the other way. I've been in wedding parties where the planner was the person that would set everyone straight so the bride and groom didn't have to, and instead focused on the day...I had to tell her to make the ushers hurry up and seat the guests as they arrived to the church as I didn't want to have to be stern with my friends and she didn't have the focus or prioritizing abilities to do so. In summary, we had a great wedding because of us and not because of the person we paid to plan it. Unfortunately we ended up way over budget and did most things on our own. Could've saved the $5k we paid her and had a similar outcome. read more

I thought long and hard about posting this review, and even waited until after the wedding to ensure that my experience was accurate. From start to finish Lindsay was absolutely horrid. As someone who has experience in Bridal and Event planning, Lindsay gives all coordinators a horrible reputation. The first issue we had with her, was that she never answered inquiries. Our Bride was planning a destination wedding. She picked Lindsay as her coordinator because Lindsay had done a wedding at the destination resort the Bride selected. The bride also resides in Austin, so she thought it was a perfect match. Upon hiring Lindsay-- she literally did nothing. We provided her an excel sheet with all the guests info and asked that it be updated, since she was in fact the VERY WELL PAID coordinator. As the invites went out and people, including myself reached out to her, we began to realize the quotes she provided us were literally ONE HUNDRED PERCENT up-charged from the hotel. She quoted us $4,416.33 for a room for 3 people for 4 days. Upon calling the resort to understand what all these charges were for--and contacting "funjet" who she is a travel agent for... we found out she had chosen to make a profit by up-charging every single person ONE HUNDRED PERCENT. When the father of the bride contacted her and explained how embarrassingly unacceptable this was, she blatently lied and said she did not do that, but the resort "must be having some kind of sale" that she would "now honor". We finally got the room cost to the actual cost the hotel was charging, and at this point Lindsay pretty much stopped communicating with anyone who challenged her in any way with questions or concerns. I happened to be in Austin, TX when this issue arose, and the bride was in tears over the treatment she was receiving. She essentially did not reply to emails from the bride, her father, the bridesmaids or family. After multiple attempts to ensure payment was made, she actually charged 4 different people the wrong amount on their credit cards. She charged another bridesmaid for my portion of the room, and simply never responded when we notified her. As far as the excel sheet being updated with peoples travel information-- it was simply never done. She literally did not even work on this wedding, but charged upwards of $3,000 for her services. Emails that should have been sent to the guests with information regarding arrival, were never sent. We had to work hard internally as a wedding group to make sure everyone had the correct info. Upon arriving, many people who were charged for transportation to and from the airport, magically had no reservations. The resort themselves offered wedding planners, for free, since they booked a destination wedding. We would have been better off using them from day one to get everything done, as Lindsay again went radio silent upon the start of the wedding weekend. All in all, I would never recommend or trust someone who behaves in such an unethical and unprofessional manor. Lindsay does not take pride in her work, and does not have any compassion for the people she deals with. It was very disappointing to know the bride trusted and had full faith in Lindsay, and was mislead and made to look like a fool. If you want to have a successful, hardworking coordinator who you can trust with your big day, DO NOT HIRE LINDSAY. read more

Lindsay is absolutely amazing! We hired her as a day of coordinator and she was so much more! She was flexible with us to meet on weekends since we were out of town and took of everything to the T. I have her to thank for how much I got to enjoy my wedding and not worry about anything. She made sure we were fed and ready to go for whatever came next. She managed all the vendors so well and made sure the reception went smoothly. She helped so much with the decor and made sure my vision came to life beautifully! Lindsay was amazing, we enjoyed working with her, our vendors appreciated working with her and our parents loved her! Our wedding was thrown slightly off rails due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, Lindsay kept her cool and was very calm and reassuring throughout the entire process. As can be expected, we had to make substantial changes to accomodate our wedding in July 2020. Lindsay was extremely helpful in coordinating all of the (extremely last minute) changes with each of the vendors. Our day was perfect and my husband and I enjoyed every moment, especially knowing that we had Lindsay taking care of all of the little details in the background! We got married on Oct. 25, 2014 and Lindsay, from In Her Shoes Coordination, was absolutely amaaaaazing!! We hired her, upon the recommendation of a friend, to provide day-of coordination services but what she delivered was MUCH MUCH MORE! She worked with us for over a year as we planned our wedding and with every visit and email, she was super friendly, upbeat, organized and professional! As we got closer to the big day, we had several last minute questions, changes and updates to our plans. Lindsay was our day of coordinator for our wedding at Pecan Springs Ranch. She was really easy to work with throughout the year. She was helpful with our planning and extremely organized on the day of. She did a beautiful job decorating with all of our décor and kept the party going all night. She told us exactly where to be and when, brought us food and drinks, kept the schedule on time and shifted when necessary. I would love to give no stars but unable. My daughter and I contracted with Lindsey in August 2013 for a Dec 2014 wedding; a year and a half in advance. In April of this year I get an email from Lindsey that her cousin is getting married the same day but she has hired another planner for us. We agree to meet the new planner and LOVE her so all is great; plus Lindsay said she would work on the wedding with the new planner until she left town. So two weeks ago we had the final meeting at our venue and the replacement planner shows up and we wait and wait for Lindsay, who I had confirmed with. She arrives 30 minutes late. So we overlook this and continue on. Four days later I get another email that she has fired the replacement planner but has a wonderful new planner who has worked at another venue for over a year and has done many weddings; Tara. We are now within a month of the wedding. I ask for more information and find out Tara is her sister-in-law and this now sounds odd. I decide to call her "over a year" employer and am told she has been there maybe two months and has never planned a wedding. They even told me they would send me a list of planners and point blank told me if I wanted a nice wedding to get someone off the list and not to use Tara. I emailed Lindsay back and ask her what her backup plan was if Tara didn't work out. I also was curious to know just how dedicated she was to us as a client, to her business and her commitment to a contract signed a year and a half ago. All I can say is she has no dedication to anything but herself. Her answer was if Tara did not work out she would make her sister not go to the cousins wedding and we could use the sister. How totally unprofessional. She did say she was sorry for "misleading" us about Tara. How about flat out lying about her. During this time I also wanted to say thank you to the first replacement planner Lindsay had gotten us as she had been wonderful. Imagine our surprise when I told her how sorry I was she would not be moving forward on our wedding and this poor girl had NO clue she was no longer employed!! To pull all of this within one month of a wedding shows that Lindsay only cares about herself and the bride is of no importance to her and apparently she has no respect for a signed contract!! She did refund us our money but we did have her under a breech of contract. I also did point blank ask her if she had any intention of honoring her commitment as the contract stated and be at the wedding and her answer was no.
