This was the first time ordering a cake from an actual bakery. Normally I'll go to Sam's club or Costco, pick a number for theme I want and get a huge cake for 20 bucks. I seen that this place had amazing cakes so I wanted to spend more money to get a cake that would be memorable for my daughter. I placed a cake order and an order of cookies. Everything was supposed to be a mario world theme but pink because my daughter loves Toadette. I called and spoked with Desta she told me to send her an email with what I wanted. I thought I was clear on what I wanted. I asked for the cake to be pink and white, but what I got was all pink cake. I had asked for a strawberry and cream filling and I got only cream. I ordered pink mushroom cookies but I received red ones. We communicated through email, text and then they called me to confirm and to do the deposit and I had told them again and reminded them that I wanted pink mushroom cookies. The cookies were almost the same price as the cake and to receive what I didnt ask for kinda sucked. They offered me a dozen cup cakes to make up for the mistake but still messed up the theme that we had planned for the bday. The cookies did taste good I will admit that. I dont mean to be mean but the cake was my least favorite. In the email I had asked for a frosting that wasn't too sweet. I got fondant, I should have said not to use fondant I'm not a fan of fondant. The cake was also poorly made. The cake it self was not leveled they just stacked both cakes together upside down which created a big gap on the sides of the cake that was just filled with fondant. I've never seen a cake like that. I'm not gonna lie even tho the cake looked nice I thought it was going to be more nicer compared to the pics i've seen. It looked really plane. Desta did call the next day to apologize for the mistake while I was im the middle of the party so I missed the call. I heard the message she left, she apologized. I didnt call back because I didnt know what to say. Just wish they had a better system to order or a more clear communication. I've never done this before I was just trying to have a nice cake for my daughter but felt like I failed her. Dont let my review detour you from going and giving them a shot. We truly enjoyed our cake tasting for our wedding. Desta sketched how our cake would look and we loved it. Then covid happened and the bakery was helpful in working with us as we figured out a new wedding date. We ordered our cake for our microwedding and larger wedding. We also had mini desserts : mini Dutch apple pies and mini raspberry cheesecakes. I loved how our cake turned out. As part of our wedding package, we would get the top tier remade to enjoy for our 1 year anniversary. The ribbed look was really messy and uneven compared to the wedding day cake. See picture. I realized it once I was looking at wedding day photos. We had a bit of a drive from Galt so I do wish they would've had an appropriate sized box for the top tier. Love this place! I have been here so many times to run in and grab a cupcake to go when I have a craving. I love their selection of cupcakes; they always have some unique combinations of flavors. I have ordered a few cakes from here, and they never disappoint. I did have a picture of a cake they made last year for the local brewery's grand reopening, but apparently, someone reported it to be for another business, and it was removed, which is a shame because it turned out soooo good! It was pretty cool because they had made the frosting look like water, and they made rocks out of fondant, so creative! I also love admiring the cakes they have in the front lobby on display. They are so creative, especially the gemstone cake. They are always super attentive and friendly. I have gone in there with some random ideas, and they manage to put them all together, and it turns out even better than I could have imagined. Went with my daughter for her wedding cake tasting. Arrive hungry! This was the most unique tasting I've ever been to. We were able to try all the cake flavors, fillings, fresh fruits, and frostings in order to create her own combination. She chose champagne cake with a dark chocolate and strawberry filling and cream cheese frosting. Delicious!!! We liked it so much that I ordered it again for her 23rd birthday! My husband was craving something sweet so we stopped here. I had the Oreo truffles and let me tell you they were to die for. The flavors burst through your mouth and honestly you only need one for the craving. He also ordered 2 cupcakes for him. Service is always great and fast but friendly and the ambiance is a bakery lol. What do you expect? Me and my wife stopped for a evening dessert. My wife order a lemon bar and Oreo truffle. I ordered a hostess cupcake and pumpkin cream cheese cupcake. I also ordered a Oreo truffle after the customer service lady had talk me into getting one. The Oreo truffle was rich and flavorful. The white chocolate with the soft inside just made my tastebuds go into over drive. My wife had the same feeling as I did. She loved her lemon bar. She said it was bursting with flavor and it was the best lemon bar she has ever had. The hostess cupcake taste better than the real one. The frosting was fresh and gooey. The cake was soft and the cream inside was light. The pumpkin cheesecake cupcake was a flavor experience. The pumpkin and the cream cheese flavor was just the perfect combination of flavors. Update to previous review. The owner reached out to me both on my post and privately. She was very polite and apologetic. I went into the bakery on 3/20 and instead of taking advantage of a situation, I chose to purchase a cannoli and 6 cupcakes to take home to my family. We were all very pleased with the flavors and quality of ingredients. The staff while in the bakery were very busy but still very courteous and helpful! I had Something Sweet Bakery do my wedding cake and it was just ok, but not great. The cake at our wedding was a very dry, but of note, on the taste test day the cake was actually moist. Also the guests didn't seem to care for the cake much. However, it was a pretty cake so that was nice. Anyway, with our wedding package we were guaranteed to have a re-make of the top tier of the wedding cake for our one year anniversary. Unfortunately, we were in a severe accident before our 1 year anniversary and we both spent quite a bit of time in the hospital and ICU recovering; thus we didn't get to celebrate our 1 year anniversary as we had planned. I called the bakery and explained the situation and that I wanted to still have the wedding topper made for our next anniversary in a few months as we didn't get to use it for our 1 year anniversary. Sadly, the bakery wouldn't honor the request since it wasn't for the 1 year anniversary. I get it, but also figured the bakery would have been more kind and considerate and offering other options instead of just saying no. I will not be using this bakery for other events or recommending them going forward. read more

Ok.. where do I even start? Desta and her team made my wedding cake dreams come true! My cake was definitely one of my favorite things about my wedding. I told Desta what I wanted and she sketched out a design and made it happen! It was even more beautiful than I imagined. My guests were asking if my cake was fake because it looked so perfect! The details were incredible. I asked for a Pearl white finish and a glitter tier. No problem! They made it happen! And it was delicious! I got the pink champagne flavor. There was not a slice left over after the wedding. My guests were calling and texting saying how good the cake was. I worked very closely with Ashley who works at the bakery. She was always so professional, answered all my questions (I had a lot) and just very very nice! I cannot wait to have another event or party so I can get another cake made! Here at Something Sweet Bakery you can book a tasting ahead of time, try all the types of flavors, and most importantly discuss your vision for your cake. So glad that we stumbled across this bakery! We have pretty good bakers in this house so I'm not usually one to go out and buy a fancy birthday cake. However, we wanted to do something special because my daughter spent her 19th birthday in room quarantine due a positive COVID test. We started looking over a month before the delayed celebration. That was a challenge with so much uncertainty for bakeries during shelter-in-place. It wasn't any different for them, but they were so friendly and easy to work with. We knew this was our place! They responded quickly, gave guidance on the options that would work best with our design, and followed through with the order even after having to close again with the corona impact. The cake was super cute and soooo tasty! I swear it gets better every time I sneak into the fridge for a bite. Totally worth the increased number of workouts needed to make up for it. Flavor-wise, we got a lemon cake with strawberry filling and buttercream frosting. Fabulous. I'm totally coming back for the coconut cake when we don't have to share with my husband. Even the pick-up process was seamless. I tasted at other bakeries as well and the high quality, fresh ingredients Desta uses make her bakery a step above the competition. From the cake tasting to the leftovers, our wedding cake experience with Joni and Something Sweet Bakery was awesome. They used our vague vision of a country chic wedding cake with burlap flowers to a phenomenal wedding cake. I posted a couple of pics from our daughter's recent wedding nearby. Everyone thought it was so unique and lovely. It also tasted great. We did a layer of chocolate cake with raspberry filling and fresh raspberries and two layers of vanilla cake with cheesecake filling and fresh strawberries. Outstanding! Came here to get cupcakes for a birthday celebration. You can but single cupcakes, half dozen, a full dozen and the list goes on. We tried the bananas foster, coconut cream, German chocolate, carrot cake, and lemon. All were decadent and what a cupcake should be. We only did one other cake tasting and it didn't even compare to our tasting at Something Sweet. The presentation, the organization, the options-you name it-blew away the other tasting.
