Certainly a special place. Not the most largest of portions but definitely a bite worth remembering. I ordered "The Whole Ranch", couldn't decide between pancakes or French toast so I got one of each. I am typically a pancake fanatic but these French toast are something else. Service was ok. I did appreciate what I think was the cook bringing out my three plates with a smile and a tap on the shoulder saying enjoy. Very cozy. Named appropriately, this restaurant is something special!The food is always freshly cooked and served hot. It's a lovely set up. As you enter the restaurant you pass by the glass display cases where the fresh baked goods tempt even those with strong wills. When entering the dining room you'll find cozy seating for two, larger tables for four and more! Staff is very friendly and the owners pop out of the kitchen to welcome their guests when they have an opportunity. Prices are actually reasonable. It's a wonderful place to bring your family or gather with good friends. We're regulars and have enjoyed breakfast and lunch there for over two years now! read more

This small, quaint breakfast spot is a true hidden gem. I had pancakes filled with bananas and blueberries, topped with local syrup, and they were hands down the best pancakes I've had in a long time. They tasted just like something Grandma would make: comforting, fresh, and perfectly cooked. The blueberry muffin was grilled to perfection--golden and crispy on the outside without being drenched in butter, and soft and fluffy inside. Another person in our group ordered the eggs and bacon, which were cooked perfectly, along with home fries and fresh toast that were outstanding. For a place that specializes in breakfast ,the coffee sure is awful. This is rather puzzling, as Something Special has a pleasing dining area. Coffee is so important in the morning, and has the power to make a mediocre experience good. The problem is either poor quality product, unsuitable equipment, or training. Probably a mix of the three. But the good news is that there are companies who will visit a business, bring coffee making equipment, and give training. They will even recommend genuinely proper coffee. For FREE! Naturally they do want to make the hot beverage investment with them. You can even generate some excitement with a customer coffee sampling. OK, on to the food. French Toast and Pancakes are sort of Meh and a little dry. Unbelievable food, I ate here this morning and I'm still thinking about it hours later

Been here twice now and it's been great! We used to drive by all the time and never thought twice. We actually thought it was a catering business and didn't realize it was a restaurant. We've hit it at pretty good times because we've never had to wait. It is small but the waitstaff absolutely hustle. It feels like I'm in someone's home and the food matches that energy. Good, simple, home cooked no nonsense food. Pastries are awesome too! We've had pancakes, scrambles and egg sandwich's and all have been great. Looking forward to another visit! read more

Our waitress was sullen and unfriendly, never smiled once and barely spoke to us. Maybe she was having a bad day. I felt like an intruder, not a customer. We got what we ordered, and the food was tasty, but it was basically dropped on the table as she walked by. The coffee was horrible, very, very weak and tasteless. Were it not for my past experiences as a waitress who depended on tips I would not have left a tip because service was adequate but bordered on rude. Not keen on returning. read more

I will start this by saying I have not tried their catering- I never had the opportunity to. I wanted to. We were planning a memorial service and wanted something nice. What an appropriate title for what we were looking for. I called and the woman who answered didn't even really chat with me and she wasn't friendly at all. She told me to fill out the online form and the owner would call me back after they CLOSED. I did. I waited. No one even called. I only received an email that said "sorry, we're not available." There was no name, nothing except that simple sentence. Honestly, this is just poor customer service. Really poor customer service, which is what this rating reflects. Especially since I haven't had an opportunity to try the food. I can say based on this experience I have no desire to try the food. This was very disappointing. Every customer matters and the callous way we were treated, as willing paying customers was poor. read more

After seeing good reviews on Yelp, I visited with a few friends for lunch. Arrived at 11:45AM, waited 15 min to be seated, which was acceptable. The server took our order for 3 teas, 3 waters and 3 salads. The teas arrived, but no. water. There was only sugar and sweet n lo, so we asked for honey, and they told it is was an extra 75 cents. 40 minutes passed before the salads arrived, no previous check-ins for our server. At this point, we asked for the second time for our waters for the second time. 10 minutes later, and after I discovered a plastic wrapper in my salad, our waters arrived. I informed the server that there was a plastic wrapper in the salad. her response was "huh.. I'll let the kitchen know." No offer to take the food back, no apology, no comp. In fact, none of the staff was friendly or helpful at all. The service was non-existent. The two stars I'm giving this place are for the food, which was quite good. This might seem harsh, but service is everything. I can get good food at home. read more

5+ stars. Wow!!! This place is incredible - We sat outside on the patio (so cute!) and I ordered the Bacon and Onion Burger with local beef ... it was honestly the BEST burger I've ever had. This business has now opened a cute cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. We went for a late breakfast on Saturday. Good service. My eggs and bacon were good, the home fries had great flavor, but some weren't fried. My wife's french toast was amazing! I'm not sure if they bake the cinnamon bread for the French toast themselves, but the wheat toast that came with my eggs seemed packaged. Overall a nice little breakfast place, loved the decor. Stopped for the first time as we are big breakfast fans. Chocolate chip pancakes were excellent. Big and fluffy. Farm hand omlete was also great with homemade corned beef hash. Home fries were cooked perfectly. We went on a rainy Wed mid morning so I cannot speak to how busy it gets but all staff were very attentive and friendly. I would definitely recommend. read more

If I would rate this place more than five stars if I could. Everything about Something Special is, well, something special. I had a grilled chicken with a slab of bacon and caramelized onion. Hubby had the best local beef burger in Western Massachusetts (or maybe anywhere)! The sandwiches are served on a fresh brioche bun with a thick slice of tomato and green leaf lettuce. The service was great and the interior is loaded with New England charm. It's nice to have a café this good in our area. We will be back for the breakfast soon! read more

Something Special Catering recently catered our wedding in June 2016. Barry and Laurie were very easy to work with from the start. We had a buffet-style dinner along with a cocktail hour appetizers. Their staff was friendly and efficient throughout. Wedding guests raved about the food, especially the prime rib and mashed potatoes! The cost of everything compared to other local caterers was very reasonable. I would recommend them to anyone! read more
